Quickly, the nurse departed, causing the woman to let out a hiss once everyone was out of sight. Obviously, the hospital would have never agreed, so they went towards less acceptable means. A back alley surgeon that no doubt was paid a handsome amount to keep his mouth shut and due what our filthy parents thought was necessary. The couple walked in, towards a filthy looking lab. The woman had the conjoined twins in her arms, not looking at them, before the surgeon, a greasy looking man with long black hair, stepped out of the shadows, with a buzz saw in his hand.
The infants drifted off before the surgeon turned to their parents. He stepped forward, activating the motor, an indifferent look etched in his eyes, as he lowered the saw down towards the center of the conjoined twins. The saw began to cut into the skin of the twins. The surgeon's hand began to shake, when it appeared that his sedative was not strong enough to keep them out, as the left side began to bawl. The hand slipped, causing blood to splatter everywhere, as the left twin was removed from the right twin.
Naturally, a small price to pay for our charming parents, as their high society friends only knew of the trash that I sadly call my mother being pregnant, not that she had twins. Good day to you. The couple walked out, as the surgeon just turned to the infant, who gave a scream. Somehow, the surgeon could not bare to see the mutilated left half to spend the remaining moments of its life suffering, so he scooped up a beaker of acid.
The Book of Nightmares
Popping the top, the surgeon tipped the acid over. The acid splashed on the infants face and the surgeon just calmly brushed the mutilated infant into the garbage bin, with several other empty beakers filled with a few drips of remaining chemicals. The surgeon did a double take, it was almost as if the infant was looking at him with glowing yellow eyes, so he wasted little time in sealing the bin, before he pushed it out to the curb to dispose of it. Despite losing my legs, I remained alive, at only the price that I needed a steady amount of garbage to sustain myself, as I lived off the filth and was repulsed by clean, weakened by its very essence.
In time, I managed to fasten myself robotic legs, so I gained mobility. I awaited until one day, I could gain revenge on society that shunned me, by turning the city into my own personal paradise, covering it with toxic waste. With the city more acceptable for habitation, I'll be invincible. And the fact that I'll gain direct revenge against you along with two of the Turtles and these others meddlesome fools will be delicious irony.
The Garbageman motioned his pudgy hand, and the Junk Troopers moved out, rushing forward to recapture the ground. Don sprung up, using his Bo Staff. This one attack dropped a number of goons, as Raph blocked the shock stick with his Sais, causing sparks to fly everywhere, before Hailey took him out with a stunning spell. Harry moved over to try and disable the propulsion unit, but The Garbageman rushed over, before he knocked Harry onto his back. In the background, a pair of the junk troopers jabbed Hun in the back with their shock sticks, dropping him to the ground.
Harry sprung up and threw the shuriken at the legs of the Garbageman, but it merely deflected back, before the Garbageman used his robotic leg, jabbing it towards Harry. Harry blocked it with his blade, before he somersaulted behind the Garbageman, as Hermione wrapped together a pair of Junk Troopers in the background. The Garbageman yelled out in agony, almost as if his skin was on fire, when the spell struck it. It blistered beyond belief, it seemed to be sensitive to cleaning of any kind, as Harry threw a Junk Trooper into Raph, allowing Raph to put him to the ground, as Hun angrily grabbed one of the goons, before he swung him against a destroyed car.
Several bursts of light struck the Garbageman at once, causing the titan of trash to back off, his skin becoming very raw, as it was cleaned.
He rushed over, in an attempt to savior some of his precious trash, but Harry placed an invisible wall against him. The Garbageman struck the wall and with a flick of his wrist, the wall was transfigured into the water. The water splashed down onto the Garbageman's form, causing him to dig his own fingernails into his skin, as he was struck with another spell. In a vague attempt, he attempted to activate the drill function of his robotic bottom, to escape in a matter similar than he had done last time, but Harry had anticipated this and with a quick movement of his wrist, the propulsion unit was switched with the robotic legs.
The Garbageman pressed the button, but he realized what he had done, as the top half of him blasted high into the sky. A loud scream echoed throughout as the Garbageman disappeared into the distance, as Hailey, Hermione, Harry, Raph, and Don watched him leave. Just In All Stories: Story Story Writer Forum Community. Y si un libro me hace sentir muchas cosas mientras lo leo, ese libro se convierte inmediatamente en un libro especial. Jun 01, Jessica rated it really liked it Shelves: I'm really wavering between four and five stars on this one, actually. I have been super-duper jazzed about this book since I first heard about it. But was the story up to the hype? The book is absolutely charming, and the story is truly inventive.
I loved Charli I'm really wavering between four and five stars on this one, actually. I loved Charlie, and I loved his friends, too. I love the idea of this book: It was very well written and very clever. But why I hesitate to give it five stars is because I wanted. I thought it would be a bit scarier. I thought there would be a lot more detail about the witch who has been haunting Charlie's dreams. I think they could have given us more, more, MORE! And let's call this 4.
Sep 14, Richard Denney rated it it was ok. To save myself, I went in expecting nothing but a good reading time I didn't even get that. I read 38 pages before I got uninterested and an extra twenty before I finally gave up. I ended up reading the rest just to see if it would change my mind but all in all it was an alright read. I do have to say that Charlie was a bit of a dick to his stepmother within the first 17 pages and it kinda made no sense because I wanted a reason to dislike the stepmother and in 17 pages nothing was given for that, so it just seemed like he was being a little bratty dick lol I also felt like I'd read this before or seen a movie on it before and I probably have, I think there was even a Disney channel movie or 90s horror movie about nightmares that was similar to this.
I'd say give a go if you're interested but I didn't really care for it. Totalmente recomendado para lectores de cualquier edad y gustos literarios. Todos le tienen miedo a algo. Bello por dentro y por fuera. I wanted to like this book more. I listened to it on audio and really enjoyed it for awhile. It's read by Jason Segal so it's well done.
It was just a little longer than it needed to be and probably could've been cut by 75 pages easily. I probably would've enjoyed this one more if I was younger. I just didn't fall in love with it the way I had expected to. I would still recommend it for younger kids, there is a lot about this book to enjoy. I really wanted to like this one, but it just wasn't for me. It felt like a simple concept that was stretched way further than it needed to go and the development of the characters needs work.
I'm trying to be gentle, knowing that this is written for a younger audience, but I feel like the author recycled some fairly famous stories rather than creating his own. Aug 29, Jaime Arkin rated it really liked it Shelves: I ended up seeing Jason talk about why he had to write this book at BookCon just before it came out, and I just knew I wanted to give it a try. It was the perfect mix of suspenseful and fun.
I loved, loved the images scattered throughout the story and they really added to what was going on. If you have a middle grade reader who is looking for something a little bit creepy, a little bit scary, a little bit suspenseful and a whole lot of fun, definitely have them pick this one up! Jun 02, Bruna Miranda rated it it was amazing Shelves: I would be lying if I said I had any interest in Nightmares! Have I been disappointed in innumerable celebrity books in the past? Do I think that actors are necessarily talented authors?
In many cases, probably not. Will I ever learn? I suspect much of the credit, perhaps most, is due to Kirsten Miller. Though the giant cockroach was still upsetting. Of course, the giant cockroach was a nice nightmare, and I would still spray it with RAID until it stopped twitching.
For that reason, the adventurey parts were not hugely interesting to me. However, I do love what the nightmares stand for. Sure, the nightmares are horrors and in and of themselves, especially when they can interact directly with the kids, but they actually represent deeper and more logical fears. The book really considers the way the human mind will create a fear to mask the one that really bothers us.
The set up is actually really similar. However, most nightmares are actually trying to help the kids deal psychologically and get over their fears. Unfortunately, evil nightmares are trying to take over to keep kids scared. I thought that it was cool how not all nightmares are bad, except, you know, for the cockroach because they should all die and are never acceptable. The real reason I enjoyed this so much, though, was Jason Segel.
The best audiobook narrators, I think, are not only willing but delighted to sound completely ridiculous. This is why Katherine Kellgren is one of the best narrators of all time. Jason Segel, as you might guess from his performances is just such a narrator. He does all sorts of crazy voices and reads with a lot of emotion.
His voices for females are pretty abominable, but otherwise his performance was perfection. The artwork in it was great and if you like scary stories, def check this one out. The next part comes out in the Fall of Look for it at your local library and wherever books are sold.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Jason Segel which is why it got an extra half star.

His narration was so incredible and really brought the story alive for me. I loved Charlie's friend group and all the nightmares that helped him along in the Netherworld. It was funny, touching I may have teared up a few times , and a cute story for kids and adults alike who sometimes have trouble facing the things that terrify them the most be it goblins or new stepparents. I already have the second one checked out from the library and will be continuing the series.
