Each puppy was taken to the Davie, Florida-based rescue Saving Grace and Her Furry Friends , where the volunteers noticed that two of the puppies had missing hind feet, with horribly infected open wounds. The exact story was unclear, but it was easy to suspect intentional abuse on the part of their original owner.

Stolen Puppies Found

One of the injured puppies was in especially bad condition. The founder of the rescue, Stephanie Miller, made sure that the staff paid special attention to him. When Sara Peaker-Angel and her wife, Gina, saw the images of the abandoned, abused group of puppies on the news, they knew that they had to help. He was at Saving Grace and her Furry Friends, so he must have been the one! Within a few days, we were driving to Davie to meet him. Apparently, the runt had needed more time than his brothers and sisters to recover at the rescue shelter.
