But there is a lot to the story of the past which reveals itself throughout the book. The team is in London on the hunt for Mr. Black aka Eli Nelson, the rogue agent from the Agency. He has been tied to one Thomas Molina. It has been a quiet couple of days. She is a do gooder. With all good reason as she has survived a lot of tragedy for someone so young. She has some self-esteem issues usually a pet peeve of mine but to a certain extent I understood and all the lovely alpha men from Taggart-McKay put her back on the straight and narrow but mainly Liam with spanking.

She lost her husband, her baby and the ability to walk. Once she lets everyone slowly in. Best bit Avery thought Liam was a gigolo and then a hustler. Since that fateful night of hell Liam has given up on soft, voluptuous women but Avery will change everything. He never lived a full life after that night but now we really see him for who he is. It starts to realize that some things are off. This book is full of secrets and lies. Both characters are scarred inside and out but that is what makes them both so unique. I loved them as individuals and as a couple.

Oh Liam you sexy, adorable, tortured, loveable soul. But the way Liam deals so loving with the situation. And that he confessed everything even though he could lose everything that was important to him. Avery feels betrayed by all of them. She always got what she wanted which were friends and a new beginning. I fell to my knees at this scene. After that and lots of poetic words from the Irish men I was a puddle on the floor.

I sighed and wished I could swap places with Avery. He was an idiot in love with a girl and that felt good. And the best bit? Thank bloody God cause if not that would have peed me right off. Best book in the series so far, well for me anyway. Although I guessed one of the things but I think it is quite clear to the who and the what of the situation.

Jun 10, Rosebud rated it it was amazing Shelves: Liam O'Donnell has gone undercover in an attempt to get close to Avery Charles, an assistant to a philantropist, who may have information that could help flush out one of the owner of the agency's arch enemy. He is told to use all resources available to gain her cooperation including sex. Avery is a frumpy awkward female who is surprised when a gorgeous stranger tries to pick her up on her lunch break. Little does she realize that Liam, otherwise known as Lee, is a Dom who is ready, willing, and able, to introduce her to the world of BDSM and train her in the finer points of being his sub.

So, I just did a preliminary opinionated blurb about this book. It's a fast paced action-suspense book in the style of a James Bond movie. This is the type of book that challenges your mind as much as provides that satisfying enjoyment of the flesh that adults will eet up.

My only concern is that this is the third installment so if you haven't read the previous books in the series you MAY loose out on the flavor of the recurrent characters who weave in and out of this story. It's possible but as this is a good series you really should consider reading all three although the first one does start slow and gave me a few issues. The ending does provide the info that the next book will feature Alex and Eva finally but that isn't soon enough for me.

Loved this book and am a definite fan of this author. The third in this series contains more suspense which is what I want to read. This book starts out with a bang. Liam O'Donnell wakes up to a bad situation. This gives the book a foreboding feeling and then jumps to current day. I like the tie in from past history and how it can possibly impact today.

For this one we are in merry ole England and I loved it. Avery Ch Another riveting 3. Avery Charles is person of interest because it is possible that she's using a charity organization as a way to transfer weapons. As the target, Liam needs to get close and get the information he needs. The tie ins from Liam's past to present are well done. This is a complicated plot with several moving parts. It was much faster than Liam and his team, but that is because I can see it from a 3rd person point of view view. Amidst all the spy stuff, Ms.

Blake inserts romance and kinky sex! The BDSM is light. The club in London is fabulous. I loved the little bit we see. It is own by sexy and mysterious Damon Knight from MI6. Liam and Avery are tortured characters. They both have a painful past. Liam's is understandable as he is from a military background. Avery's past is what really hurts and guts a person. What Avery does is amazing. This kind of person doesn't really exist in real life. I mean, if more people were like Avery, the world would be a better place.

Avery has experience senseless destruction upon those she loved. For her to come out unjaded and still forgiving is pretty amazing. She is an inspiration. The chemistry between Liam and Avery is good and amusing. Amusing because it is experienced man-whore man-slut with a barely touch woman.

A Dom is Forever

The fact that Avery thought Liam was a gigolo is hilarious. Liam's cover makes him just a little too aggressive sexually. I like how Ms. Blake sets this up. This is a great read and recommended for suspense lovers who enjoy a bit of kink. View all 3 comments. My Gawd but Lexi Blake could write a sexy hero. I have been curious about Liam since the first book in this series, and I def was not disappointed.

His story had me curious until the last page. Avery was a great heroine as well. Her past is heart breaking, and even though she has some major self esteem issues which is understandable, given her past she still comes off strong in the story. This was a terrific read, and the love scenes?!!! I'm excited for Alex and Eva's book next, but I absolutely cannot wait for Ian's story.

He is the Dom I love to hate. This book was great, Lexi Blake is def one of my auto-buy authors. My favorite in this series continues to be "The Men with the Golden Cuffs", but Liam's story was a sexy good read. Aug 30, Jill rated it really liked it Shelves: This series just gets better and better!! If you are in for a sexy bit of intrigued, with worldwide intelligence agencies, scary bad guys, gun fights and injuries tense man, soo tence Then this is the series for you.

The Masters and Mercanaries series is hot and a total hoot!! Imagine a group of Dom's running and international spy business, what is this a combination for?? The men in this series are amazing, I have loved all of them so far, but Liam has been my Thorougly enjoyable!!! The men in this series are amazing, I have loved all of them so far, but Liam has been my absolute favourite. His shady, haunted past gives him the title of tortured hero and boy is he put through the ringer in this book. I felt bad for him acutally when certain things come to light and he doesn't know who to trust.

The twists in this book truly left me reeling, I did not expect them, and I say well done Ms Blake!! Avery Charles awesome name I just loved her, I didn't have any dramas with her at all. But she had humour and feeling and I just thought she was great. Avery buttoned her sweater while internally debating the wisdom of engaging in first time anal sex before going on the run from a potential killer. On the plus side, she was so madly in love with Liam O'Donnel that she was proabably glowing. Onthe minus, she really kind of wanted to stay home and sit on a bag of frozen peas.

See normal, head on her shoulders girl, hahahah. Of course this book and all it's snippets of other characters just makes me want more. Eve and Alex, I am desparate for their story. I want them both happy and healed as they both just seem so perfect for each other. And Ian what can I say about Ian Don't let him scare you. People's you really have to start this series, good fun!! Nov 14, Lori rated it it was amazing Shelves: It starts with the intriguing premise of two characters that have both faced great tragedy in their lives. Avery has fought her way through grief to forgiveness, while Liam has avoided facing his own history and instead has immersed himself in the dangerous sometimes violent world of the McKay-Taggert Agency. Avery has become Liam's newest assignment, as it is believed she is involved in a gun running scheme with the charitable organization she works for.

I loved that this was a heroine with flaws in her character as well as in her physical being. She had weaknesses, and self-confidence issues that anyone could relate to. She is as sassy as she is submissive, and I found myself laughing out loud at her feisty comments multiple times. His protectiveness towards Avery was sexy, but when he turned on the Dom it was wicked hot.

It had erotic love scenes that never got very kinky, but remained sexy. Lexi Blake has a fantastic way of writing that is very emotive, and draws you into the characters heads so that you can feel what they are feeling. The plot picked up steam in the last several chapters, and there were multiple surprises that kept me guessing. If you enjoy any kind of suspense in your books, then you will love this one. In this book we were able to check in on Adam and Jake and their new wife Serena Book 2 , as well as get a front row ticket into the magic bred from Sean and Grace Book1.

I love those little moments where we get a look back, they remind me of how much I love the first books. May 27, Laura Johnson rated it really liked it Shelves: It was steamy, erotic You have two people with secrets from their past that control their lives, with the potential to destroy their future.

This book is part of a series. With each new addition to this series, I become more and more addicted. This is definitely one of my favorite series and A Dom Is Forever is definitely one of my favorite books and my favorite of this series. I love the blend of romance, kink and laughter that Lexi brings to this series and this combination is what keeps me returning.

He does Avery dirty too!

A Dom is Forever, Masters and Mercenaries, Book 3

Avery was definitely a favorite heroine of mine. All that she went through just broke me heart. She was so funny and feisty and strong and sweet. I especially loved the twist that Lexi Blake took with Avery's tragedy and how Avery handled the situation with the person responsible. Her character was such a "real" person to me in the way that she acted. I just loved her with Liam so much!!

One of my favorite parts of this story was when Avery learned exactly who Liam was and what he was doing. The fact that Liam was the one who told her and what happened to cause him to finally tell Avery the truth just made me love him even more. Especially the way that he handled the situation afterwords and how he treated her. Even though he lied to her, I didn't have the same reaction to his deception as I did with Sean's to Grace. I thought Liam handled the situation and Avery so much better than Sean handled Grace. I thought that Sean bullied Grace where as that was not what Liam did with Avery.

I thought that the love he had for her shown in his actions at that moment. I also loved how Avery handled herself in the face of finding out the truth. They were so far beyond HOT!! My kindle definitely overheated and me with it!! There was such an intimacy between Liam and Avery that pulled me right in.

I loved how Avery reacted to Liam's Dominance over her. She was so perfect for him and I loved how being with him gave Avery more confidence and how she made Liam want to be a better man. Between Liam and Avery and this incredible story I was absorbed into this book and the outside world did not exist for me until long after I was finished reading. This book was so funny. I loved when Avery accused Liam of being a prostitute and the reaction of Jake and Adam when they found out that she thought that. I also loved when Adam had to stay behind with Avery while Jake got to visit Serena and Avery thought they were really talking about pie!!

I laughed so hard when she realized what they were actually talking about later on in the book. I just loved Avery and Liam and they are definitely one of my favorite couples. I was so invested in them getting their HEA. One of the best that I have read!! I could go on and on about this book.

It is definitely a keeper to be reread and I definitely need the paperback version. Best of the Best!! I can not recommend this series enough!! Thank you so much!! I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, and this one is heads and shoulders above them. The series seemed to take a more serious turn with this installment. The first two books seemed to be mostly romance, with a mystery sub-plot. In a Dom is forever, it was more equally balanced - and it made for a more satisfy and engaging story. He was a staple in the first two books, and seemed like the biggest hard-ass of the group.

Liam left his Ir I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, and this one is heads and shoulders above them. Liam left his Irish homeland under mysterious circumstances, after a failed op. He has been with the McKay-Taggert security agency ever since, and even though he's "moved on" with his life, he is still stuck in the past, unable to forgive himself or let anyone in - until he meets Avery. Wow, what a freaking amazing women Avery is. She has suffered though more tragedy than any one person should be made to endure, but instead of being bitter, she has turned her pain into something good.

She is everything that Liam is not, and he is drawn to her, despite believing that there could be nothing real between them. He was going to indulge in the man he might have been. Worthy of someone like Avery. I'm not ashamed to admit, I shed a few tears. Oh man, and the mystery was great too. I'm not often taken by surprise, but I there was a great twist that I just never saw coming. We also got to see a good deal of Adam and Jake, who were just as freaking awesome and hilarious as usual.

In addition to helping with the mission, they were working on some tag-team baby making with Serena. Ian was also a prominent part of this story, as the mystery from the second book was continued in this one. We finally got to see some of the human side of Ian, and learn about some of the things that contributed to his mistrust in women. Boy, did my heart break for him, I cannot wait for his story! Loved every word of this one - highly recommend! Dec 20, Shari Kay rated it it was ok Shelves: This sub genre is just not my thing I guess. True BDSM the clubs, scenes, voyeurism, exhibitionism, sharing, contracts is not sexy to me.

But I love an Alpha male and this series came highly rated. I carefully picked the least trigger pushing one of the bunch That said, I honestly think I gave it a fair shot I get different strokes for different folks What I find hot, others may not. I a This sub genre is just not my thing I guess. I also believe your proclivities can change, over time, but not for one freaking second did I believe that shy, inexperienced Avery would view spoiler [ be okay with being naked in front of strangers while Liam works her into such a frenzy that she's willing to have public sex, and the only reason she doesn't is because he's not willing to share her yet hide spoiler ].

This occurs approximately a week after meeting him. Not a chance in hell. The story lost me right there and I started skimming. The writing was good, and the plot was good. I even thought the lifestyle was explained really well, but if I'm gonna suspend this much belief What I love though is I get a little more details or facet of life of the other supporting c Rating: Half way through the book it got boring and I was certain I was only going to give it 4 stars. But then the plot in the second half kept it very entertaining.

Lots of twists and turns there. I think I have been spoilt by higher standards of writing. Had I read this book a year back, I would have been jumping with joy at finding such a book. It has everything I look for in a story: It's just lacking that extra "ooomph" factor. Aug 08, Witchmetal rated it liked it. I really love the special ops and thriller aspect of this series. I also love the club's and sex. I was over the complete infatuation of the characters as soon as they met. Aug 18, H rated it liked it Shelves: Easily a 4 star if it was pages shorter.

Jan 26, Sassafrass rated it it was amazing Shelves: This series is absolutely amazing. I can't wait for it to continue. Aug 26, Gizzie rated it really liked it Shelves: This book had me guessing through out the book along with a few surprises. Feb 04, Angela rated it it was amazing Shelves: There are two reasons I enjoyed this story. The first reason is really just a matter of taste. I love the hot, sexy heroes and the smokin' hot sex but that love comes with a few things I hate.

Liam and Avery seem to enjoy a bit of verbal play while sweating up the sheets. This is a brilliant move on Blake's part because it so beautifully shows how the cynical, hardened Liam is learning to embrace joy and tenderness with Avery. During their dirty, silly talk in bed and in the shower Liam's internal reflections show a man somewhat surprised to find he actually has a playful side to him.

And by allowing Avery to make her silly, snarky, "bratty" comments readers see Avery's confidence grow. The second reason I enjoyed this story is a bit more, hmm, educational, I guess you could say. It is the difference between a lazy writer only 'telling' a story vs a creative writer 'showing' the story as it evolves. Needs to control, needs to please, etc We are with Liam on his voyage from the half-assed Dom to the fully realized Dom.

We are with Avery as her confidence grows. This is the first BDSM book I've read that the author succeeds in showing me just how much the Dom cherishes his sub's gift of herself to him and how a cherished sub will find herself feeling just as powerful as her devoted Dom. With Avery's submission Liam gets the control his Dom needs. Liam's feelings for Avery are powerful and the author does not mess around with having her hero fight his feelings. Love 'em and leave 'em Liam embraces his feelings for Avery and acknowledges to himself that while he may be the Dom, Avery is the one in complete control of him and he wouldn't have it any other way.

But I kept going because I was already loving it that I couldn't put down. It was actually a good impression for the series. I think I'm going to love these characters, the guys in the background of Liam's and Avery's journey to their HEA seems very likable, interesting and people I will want to root for.

Love the authors weaving of the story and how funny and tongue in cheek her writing was. Off to start book one, can't wait to catch up with myself. ItsBookishMe Oct 22, Originally published at Ruby's Books. I received an e-copy of this book from InkSlinger PR in exchange for an honest review. This does not influence my opinion or my rating of the book in any way.

The third installment in the Masters and Mercenaries series is probably my favorite so far. I love how it seems that this book and the first book in the series sort of help complete a puzzle, a puzzle that isn't entirely focused on Liam and Avery. I enjoyed reading about Liam falling in love, especially since he was the most likely to make fun of his male friends for doing that exact thing.

But I also liked reading about his back story, and figure out why he got to be the one used for this mission. He was an interesting choice of hero, so discovering why he was the guy for this particular job was really intriguing. I really respected her, because even though she went through what she did, she's trying to keep living and to live a normal life, which is honestly my favorite thing about her. She has a bad relationship with her in-laws, and when I learned why, I wanted to punch a wall, because she does not deserve the hate, man.

One of the interesting aspects of this book was the villain. I have to hand it to Lexi Blake, she knows just how to write a good villain. They're not just bad, or scary evil, but they're also really deranged. The thing I love most about her villains though is that you can slowly see how their minds are deteriorating, if it makes sense. Like, the more they give in to their evilness, the more they lose sanity, and I love that. Black makes an appearance, and I keep wondering what his endgame is, when will he lose his mind, but he seems just as cold and calculating and sane as he was in the beginning.

Another really cool aspect of this book is that we get to learn more about Ian. Ian is Sean's older brother, and the boss of everyone, basically. We learn more about Ian, but I still have so many questions. I saw that he got his story told, so I'm super excited to read it, because I need to find out exactly how he got started with all of this, how he put the team together.

The ending of the book revealed that the next in line to get their HEA are Alex and Eve, and I couldn't be happier for them. I will definitely check it out, as well as the other books in the series. If you guys haven't checked this series out yet, you definitely should. I wish I had read this in the proper order. There are references to what happened to Liam in Alex's book. Their writing draws in the reader in and won't let them go until the end. Even then the reader is left wanting more of the characters that they have come to love.

This story is no different. Liam O'Donnell is all that makes us love dominant alpha males. He is caring and compassionate with those that he sees as family. He is lethal with his enemies. He has over come so much and become a better man for it. He is primed to find a mate and I am glad that Avery Charles is the one that catches his attention. I always love when a man is so taken by surprise when they meet the woman that will be their wife and lover.

I did feel a certain amount of sadness when Liam loses his brother but Liam is so much better off without the dirty, rotten bastard. Avery Charles is the typical Lexi Blake female. She is smart, courageous and adventurous.

I am not sure that there would be many people that were so forgiving as Avery was. I think that it is probably the best way to be. It is so rare for someone to let go of the negative and embrace the positive. Avery has over come so much and made a better life for herself. Liam helps push her even further down that the path of healing.

I was also glad of the news that is in the last chapter of this book. This is a great story and for those that love milder BDSM stories then this is the book for you. There is some spanking, public play and toys in the story but there is no sharing. We get to see almost everyone in this story which is always very nice.
