The author laid her heart out bare in this book. It is not sugar coated. It's not all happiness and faith. I feel like I can relate to the author on so many levels. That's not what I'm saying with the above rant. The sex is consensual.

There's a safe word. I just feel that Hunter shouldn't have to seduce or coerce Kata into being submissive. It blurred the line too much for my taste. Part of the whole plot this comes up pretty early in the book and is no real spoiler is that Kata's mother has been married to an emotionally abusive man for years, and Kata though a natural sexual submissive Hunter has some issues from his youth that inform his decision making, as well.

Both characters have some emotional shit to work out, and I think the author eventually does that pretty well. But not before annoying the hell out of me. Plus also, Shayla Black can write the mess out of a sex scene. And there are very explicit, very kinky sex scenes in this series, so you might want to walk on by if you're squeamish or intolerant of those sorts of things.

They are not only super deliciously hot, they are guaranteed to let any woman feel safe and secure whilst letting her also feel completely out of control. In this read the story tells of Hunter, injured and on some recovery time he agrees to help out a friend with letting the fantasy of the very hot Kata come to life. But once he has her in his arms he does not feel like sharing at all!

He soon sets himself the goal of ensuring he has Kata all to himself and forever his before he leaves in a week's time. The sex goes from zero to mph in less than 5 seconds and they live in their own world of submission and domination, with Hunter the teacher and Kata the student. But whilst Kata is learning to adjust to her new found fantasies and the extreme emotions Hunter unleashes there is danger around the corner and it wants death! The character of Hunter was as mentioned a Navy SEAL and thus not only all kinds of total hotness but also one of those men that only needs to give you a look and you will be able to tell, that this guy lives for a challenge.

I adored him from the very first page, yes I was not in full agreement that he would so easy be able get into the threesome thing, it just seemed not really the kind of thing a big tough Navy Seal would do. But once the author let Kata and Hunter only focus on each other I become very much entranced with Hunter and just how much he is dead set on protecting the woman that has stolen his heart. Kata was as heroines go bit of a flop for me, she was fun and feisty and could stand her own but I was not overly all nuts about her being so indecisive all the time, we all know that when we want something the idea is to go after it before it goes elsewhere, so yes there were quite a number of times I wanted to give her a good old shaking up and just tell her to make up her mind and get on with it already.

But then again, I suppose when faced with a life changing sexual course it cannot be easy and in the end I got a little more use to her way of thinking. Now as for the plot of this read it not only included the super sex between Kata and Hunter and the very emotional journey they take off on, but also a very intriguing mystery, that kept my attention and had me on the edge of my seat. That wonderful "He will do anything to protect her" feeling that let's face it is always awesome in any read! If you are not into erotica's with all the kinky wild domination submission elements this read is not for you, but I will also say this, the read is not only about that but also has a wonderful meaning and message about two people finding each other and discovering a weakness of life, and if you can look past the wild crazy sex that might let you feel uncomfortable you are going to discover a magical story of romance!

I recommend this read for anyone looking to indulge in the fantasy world of two lovers united by a bond so strong no challenge can break it. I was truly routing for Hunter and I'm sad this one hit the mark in many ways. A She really lost me with the insta-connection. You see and touch a woman and don't think, "it's lust", oh no you think, "it's a connection that is forever". You feel it in your gut. You have to actually have a conversation or two or twenty before you have a connection. How many times does that ONE in a bar or party that you saw across the crowded room finally made his way over to you and then he opens his mouth and you want to turn and RUN for da hills?

I'd rather him have gotten drunk and on a whim married her in Vegas or married her to piss someone off, AND THEN had his protective side which lord almighty did he show with Kimberly make an appearance and try to control her.

Beauty from Surrender

Used to being in charge. But he really is a jerk. I'd kick him to the curb. If I'd been shot at, just married to a stranger and had to flee to my stranger-husband's brother's home, I'd want to control my disrobing to bathe too. Can the dominant dude. She isn't horny at the moment, so put a sock in it. He is a controlling prick and she should RUN. Now once the first parent makes an appearance, things do get more interesting. They start talking and connect-that's always good AND they exhibit attributes other than sexual ones that are appreciated by the other one.

NOW the relationship makes sense and I route for it I really hated the ending. Frankly I think the beginning should have been chopped down and I would have enjoyed reading about her evolution from alpha woman unwilling to be dominated to alpha woman who is eager and a perfect submissive in the bedroom. That transformation would have been interesting AND it would have made me like her to see her struggle AND frankly if he'd been involved it would have helped to further bond the two.. We still could have bonded to her witnessing her journey and had snippets of him trying to move on I'm so sad I didn't cheer.

Shayla Black is wonderful. I really hope everyone else can enjoy this journey. I wish I could have. But after meeting Kata he needs more than one night. And he wants her all to himself-a guilty secret that becomes a dangerous fantasy.. I loved this book just the whole concept of what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas. These two are are so different that you can't help but love them and want them to work it out in the end. I've said this befor Ok guys! I've said this before and say it now! I love how I can just read a few paragraphs and know inmediately it's a book of yours!

Logan secret crush , Ben BFF and so many more characters that add to the plot making it all the more enjoyable!. You'll have to wait and read it!! Bringing you to the edge of your seat, chair, and even bed. Believable love scenes, in wich you'll gasp, either form surprise or envy. In case you haven't read the Wicked Lovers series don't panick!!! She made me a complete addict! This book kept me captivated from the first page. Hunter is on break in Vegas when he spies a gorgeous woman named Kata.

He has never desired a woman more even though his military buddy, Ben has an on and off again relationship with her. Hunter vows to make her his. When Kata is shot at, Hunter is determined to protect her. But can he prove he is the man to cherish her, too? I loved this book. It was so hot, steam seemed to come off of the pages! The sexual chemistry between the two characters is amazing. Hunter is pure alpha and does he know how to use his magnetism on unsuspecting Kata!

Warning, he is a very dominant in bed and this book has BDSM. I liked that Kata is sexually liberated and comfortable with her body. The struggles in their relationship felt very real as Kata tries to maintain her autonomy from the determined Hunter. I liked how much Shayla Black shows how much Hunter needs Kata and lets nothing stand between them.

If you love books by Lora Leigh, this book will blow you away. Sultry, intoxicating and super sexy. Do not miss this book! I can safely say this was my favorite of the series. I was really sad when I finished the book, not because the ending was bad, but because it was over and now I have to wait several months before the next one.

Hunter is the main guy in this story and he is just Sexy with a capital S. He knows what he wants from the first pages of the book and does everything in his power to get it. To Kata, he's coming on a little strong, but he can't help the way he is. He's very strategic in his attempt to ca I can safely say this was my favorite of the series.

Surrender to Me (Wicked Lovers, #4) by Shayla Black

He's very strategic in his attempt to capture Kata's heart and she is very resistant to give over her heart because of her mother's situation, which is understandable, but after she sees how much he truly cares and wants to be with her without controlling her life outside the bedroom, she is able to give in to her true desire and be the SUB he wants her to be.

BDSM books are new to me and I'm trying to read with an open mind, and after reading this book I can totally see this lifestyle being appealing to some people. It was easy to put myself in her place because I am a very strong willed person when it comes to men or anyone for that matter, bossing me around. It's that loss of control she was so afraid of losing which I can also relate to. I enjoyed this book, and yes, the sex is steamy, HOT, but the story was there also. View all 21 comments. Hunter era demasiado duro con ella. Pero, no desmerezco el genial trabajo que hace esta autora al dotar a sus personajes de un trasfondo y una complejidad emocional que tiene puntos muy fuertes. Dec 11, Lauribooks rated it it was ok.

I was afraid that I would hate Hunter and Kata, but I ended up loving me some Hunter dominance an wanted to be Kata at times! I felt sorry for her FWB Ben, all he wanted was to give her a fantasy and he ended up, after a lot of headbutting between her and Hunter, giving her freedom to be what she really was. Hunter was a yummy Dom, and normally that's not my cuppa. But there was spmething about him that I loved. We get to revisit all the couples of the wicked lovers series.

Not sure when the next book comes out. This book just makes me want more of those wicked boys I was really surprised with this book. I thought, Here we go again with the "Alpha" male but it turned out I really liked this Alpha male. Looking forward to Logan's story and Hunter's and maybe some new characters she mentioned Ben, Xander and Kat's brother forgot this name.

Plus my name is in this book even though I'm dead. View all 10 comments. I really liked this one. I thought Kata's confusion over kink was well done. It was nice to see that Hunter wasn't simply a He-man with a desire to dominate and that his lifestyle choices were rooted in his early life experiences. Her books have sold millions of copies and been published in a dozen languages. Raised an only child, Shayla occupied herself with lots of daydreaming, much to the chagrin of her teachers.

As things continue we get introduced to her mother and let me tell you I hated her from the start. She was a big snub who I wanted to slap silly. Her mother thinks everyone ARC provided by netgalley for an honest review. Her mother thinks everyone who doesn't have money is trash and you will see her refer to Sawyer's family like that throughout the book.

Anyways as I read on Sawyer and Quinn see each other at the circuit which is a bond fire on the beach where they go to drink and party. Things are said and Quinn leaves with her date that her mother set up for her. You could tell that nothing was between Quinn and her date. Things get out of hand for Sawyer when Quinn leaves the beach and he has to deal with someone who was his best friend from 4 years ago before he left Danny.

I hated him from the beginning to he was just rude and didn't know how to treat a female right what a loser. So Quinn goes looking everywhere for Sawyer trying to get answers from him for why he left her 4 years ago but he can't tell her because it will hurt her deeply. As the story progresses Quinn and Sawyer decide to see each other in secret.

She invites him out to meet her friends. That's when things go down hill. Sawyer has words with her mother and she put fear in him. HE leaves and Quinn starts putting the pieces together. When the truth comes out I was shocked and wasn't expecting that. Anyways a lot needed to worked through and said. I must say this book was a good book and I enjoyed reading it but I will not give anymore away.

You must read it for yourself to see how it ends. I loved books were the characters get a second chance at love. Quinn was such a great female character. I loved how strong she was in this book.

One Love - Playing For Change - Song Around The World

She fell apart when Sawyer left her 4 years ago without a good bye and it took her a little while to pick herself back up. I liked Quinn I found that I could relate to her. She had a very likable attitude. Sawyer was also a great character. He wants to keep why he left a secret. Sawyer does what he thinks is best for everyone else when he leaves. He never forgot about Quinn. The more I read about Sawyer the more I felt for him. Riley Edgewood did such a great job on this book. I did not know that this was book two in the summer love series when I started it.

Knowing that now I will be picking up book one and digging into it. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves romance. Really pick it up and all in love like I did. A love that conquers all.

A beautifully written easy to read love story. Just enough heated adult sections to get you hot and bothered and keep you turning pages. My h Let me start by saying I was given this book to read for an honest review…. My heart broke and was mended. My eyes stayed damp through most of the book but felt their love and strength.

And every female needs a best friend like Gianna…. Ahh, sweet romance This is a love story from start to finish. Main characters Sawyer and Quinn dated for years until Sawyer and his family mysteriously left town. Throughout the book we get to experience them reconnecting and also find out the completely unexpected reason Sawyer left in the first place. As with most romance books, this one has a happy ending and if you love happy ending as much as myself, this book is for you.

Jun 07, Kelsey van Dillen rated it really liked it Shelves: Although the story was gripping, I felt like it was too long. It could've been shorter and the story would've been the same. Apart from that, I thought it was way too focused on Sawyers 'first time'.

This does not influence my review in any shape or form. You picture forever with each other. You plan your entire lives together including the night you plan to lose your virginity to one another. So, he plans this wonderful night out by the beach and you are so excited. So you wait, and you wait, and you wait a little bit more. Only thing is, you never see him or hear from again. No explaination, no goodbye, zip, zero, nada. Your heart is torn into a million pieces, you cry yourself to sleep every night for a long time. The years pass by and even though you still think about him from time to time you know you need to move on.

But what happens if he walks back into your life four years later? Would you get the answers you wanted? Would you walk away? The Story I was hooked from the beginning, I ended up reading the whole book in one sitting. I just needed to know what happened from why Sawyer left, why he came back and if they were going to live happily ever after. The story begins on one of her shifts, where she has to rescue a boy from the ocean. The story was definitely a page turner. I could not put my kindle down even when it was close to dying.

I wanted to keep reading, I wanted to know what happened. I thought Riley did a good job at developing the story and making you want to know what happened between Quinn and Sawyer. I also liked how I was assuming one thing about Sawyer but it turned out to be another. I especially liked how she not only focused on the romance in the book but also brought the issues of alcoholism to light. The Characters I really loved Sawyer. I loved his loyalty to his family, for me this is the most important thing for a person to have.

I also admired how he took care of his brother and his dad. Even though sometimes he would give me whiplash like one minute he was happy then he was like closed off. But when the story played out I understood why he was like this. He totally stole my heart with some of the things he did. I did enjoy Quinn. I admire her standing up for Sawyer and being a genuine person despite how her mother acted.

She was my absolute favorite she reminded me of my best friend. Like are they all happy? Overall I felt like I was in a reading slump after a couple of books I was reading. But Surf and Surrender definitely snapped me out of it. I read this begin to end in one sitting, I was that invested in the story. This is the perfect summer beach read. Feb 24, Trish Bedroom Bookworms rated it it was amazing. Book 1 was originally published as a set of 3 serials which are now available as a single book. So much that they fostered a great friendship between Riley and me. From the inside out.

Four Years Ago Remission: I never, ever think of him anymore. This can be read as a standalone. Quinn is an amazing heroine. Where book 1 left you occasionally frequently wanting to smack some sense into the heroine, Quinn makes you want to give her a hug. The place I actually ache the most? From all the grinning. I still feel like Sawyer owes Quinn more of an explanation about the timing of The Something.

My immediate feelings while reading and immediately after were just full-on happiness. Writing and editing quality: I was so excited to hear that the next book in her New Adult series would be coming out soon after and I was even more excited to be reading it. Quinn has spent the past four year getting over Sawyer Carson.

Finally ready to move on. The time and distance away from her have done nothing but make his feelings stronger. No matter what, Sawyer has to stay away from Quinn. And that would be fine, except Quinn has even less self-control. Both Quinn and Sawyer have their secrets and those secrets might tear them apart a second time. Like read it in day, addicting. And then the next thing I knew an hour had gone by and I was still reading, still telling myself that I would stop after one more chapter.

And so the cycle went, until I had read the entire book.

But other than being addicting, this story was GOOD. I loved reading about summer in the Outer Banks I might have also started planning a hypothetical vacation there while reading… and seeing how everyone was connected. And of course the romance did not disappoint me. Right from the start there is tension and chemistry between Sawyer and Quinn and it just leaps off the page. And thanks to Riley Edgewood I will never look at a surf shop in the same way.

Who knew they could be that sexy? Though that might have had more to do with Sawyer and Quinn. What I loved about Quinn and Sawyer was that they had a history before this story started. It made reading about them all the more interesting. I wanted to know more about their past, about what happened that brought them to where they are today. And they had some pretty awesome chemistry, no matter how hard they tried to fight it.

Did I mention a certain surf shop scene? And as much as I loved Sawyer and Quinn together, I liked them on their own too. They were both trying to make the best of the situation they were in. I wanted so much for them to get that they wanted, and for them to catch a break. Because I may have developed a soft spot for Sawyer. The story had just the right mix of sexy, drama and heart. I liked the book, but was not thrilled with the fact it was a serial. Never finished the review, but stated that I think I would have liked it better had I had the chance to read the entire serial in on 4.

Never finished the review, but stated that I think I would have liked it better had I had the chance to read the entire serial in one sitting. Well I'm getting that opportunity, so be prepared for the review soon -ish.

See a Problem?

That said, I liked the way Riley wrote, so when this book popped up on my radar, I knew that I'd want to read it. I just loved to pieces. Four years ago, Quinn sat waiting And he never came. She later learned that he and his family had left town. Quinn is a note keeper, and one of the first notes we read of hers is the difference between a bruised heart and a broken heart; she's just gotten over a relationship and has deemed that one a bruised heart, because what Sawyer had done to her certainly broke it.

When Quinn realizes the Carsons are back in town, she's not entirely sure what to do with that information. They were her second family; heck, if she's honest with herself, Sawyer's family was her first family. They were more her family than her own mother. She first sees Jess, Sawyer's little brother who's not so little anymore and the hurt and despair that boy shows Quinn is heart wrenching. But still, as a reader you're left wondering what happened that was so bad, that Jess now hates Quinn? Have to give Sawyer credit He wants her but knows that it's for his family's sake that he stays away.

He's managed to do just that for two months, but just one glance at her and he's done. After all, he's been in love with the girl for ever. Even when he was away, he kept a piece of himself for her The others just never added up to what he wanted and needed. I loved every part of watching these two fall back into each other.

There were struggles along the way. More heartbreak for these two young loves. Just the heartbreak in his words Both are struggling but understand that family needs to come first. But with those struggles and heartbreak brings the sense that what these two have will last, that the two of them are family. I knew what I was getting into since I've read two others by Riley Edgewood, but this book topped both of those.

While it wasn't perfect, I was left throughly impressed. Heck, I liked most of the secondary characters as well. Quinn and Sawyer were both really cute and interesting. I related to Quinn rather easily, she's simply one of those fun-loving characters you can't help but root for.

I adored how strong willed and feisty she was. Quinn was a force to be reckoned with, which was refreshing in a realm of whiny wimpy new adult characters. As for Sawyer; he was a sweetheart, a perfect book boyfriend. I enjoyed reading parts in his prospective, seeing how honest and down to earth he was.
