About this book Drawing and Painting Insects is a beautiful and inspiring guide. I waited nearly 3 months to recieve this expensive, rubbishy book, what a dissapointment. If you are a serious natural history student looking for technical artistic accuracy to help you improve your work, do not buy this book!!!! I was hoping to build on the knowlege I already had on how to 'Draw and Paint Insects', and found this book totally frustrating.

If I had wanted to view pages of amateur work, I could have visited the local primary school. The only works worth noting were those done by Val Littlewood, but the authors accompanying text was irritating and uninspiring, I was expecting far more artistic technical detail and some demonstrations. The cover of the book is deceptive and misleading. Perhaps the author would benefit by looking at work done by artists and naturalists such as Gordon Benningfield and Beatrix potter who were meticulous in their depiction both in accuracy, fine and scientific detail and finese.

This book hits that bill. This is a very special book and the author, Andrew Tyzack should be applauded for producing a book loaded with work by many established and renowned artists.

He shares so much knowledge of the zoology and breeding of insects, as well as quality guidance of drawing insects forms from start to finish.
