Please try again later. The manga and the extra colored art is Evangelion is a classic for a reason and the manga is quite wonderful. The manga and the extra colored art is amazing. The idiots who delivered it though bent the cover slightly but besides that, I'm happy to have it. I love the art and the story is still pretty good as it follows the anime well. The binding is a bit weak though.

Sadamoto's Evangelion vol Story gets more wtf as you read - Gendo, Shinji, and Misato on the cover. Admittedly, Sadamoto's art isn't as good as his first volumes of Evangelion, but it doesn't distract from enjoying the manga. Cool little sci-fi story, highly recommended read. One person found this helpful. Seems like a special case for me, but you should beware when purchasing. The manga allows me the time to process the characters much more than the anime - Which seemed to breeze by them at a rapid pace. I also enjoyed the artwork which definitely drew me in and gave me the false sense that I was watching the anime.
An awesome read and great graphic novel to own. I got this manga thinking it was the last volume in the series. Can't really call it an ending, the manga leaves off before anything super important happens so this isn't the conclusion at all. Almost a filler really. Makes me sad to think but I cannot find a volume I watched the series first, the recent OVAs which I find to be much better than the show and I'm finally reading the manga.
I like the direction of the manga a lot and I can't wait to collect them all! I wish I had read this in Jun 07, Gebanuzo rated it really liked it. Todo lo que se necesita en la vida es tomar decisiones. Jul 13, Christina rated it liked it Shelves: Sadamoto's manga adaption of Neon Genesis Evangelion delves deeper into the characters' souls, and unlike in the anime, the spotlight is more focused on a point of view coming from the characters, mostly Shinji.
Which definitely gives it a different feel, but I like it. And I've only watched the Rebuild movies anyway, which are very different and special in their own right. I don't really know how to explain this volume.

I like that, as far as character spotlight goes, it mostly focused on Shinji and Misato's relationship and living arrangements.
And Shinji's classmates were in there a bit too, I also liked that. I can't really feel a lot of pity for Shinji. He sort of comes off like just a shell, but surely he's not. He's just, a used up person with no purpose and no aim, and any purpose given to him is a sham. Of course he'll be insecure. Sadly, everyone who is secure hates insecurity. Misato is a good match to be his family, because she is also insecure.
And she's even admitted, she's not mature enough to have him live with her to keep surveillance of him. She just wanted a family, she took Shinji in for the same reason she took Pen-Pen in. She thought it'd be nice to have someone to come home to, someone welcoming. As for everything else, I don't know how to address it. Toji is a mature hot head, but he really cares for Shinji and as does their other classmate whose name I forgot. But Shinji seems to go through the motions in every part of his life Although, sadly, I know they won't either.

I just wish they could. Shinji seems so empty inside, yet how is he not relatable? Or is he an embodiment of insecurities and emptiness but without it being entirely crippling? This series is shaping up to be something I didn't expects. I've avoided reading spoilers up until now and plan to keep it that way. Hell, I haven't even seen the anime, that's how much I want to have the first experience from this story.

This volume seems to very accurately depict the apathy that comes with depression and to be honest, it's quite unnerving just how REAL it all is. Shinji feels real and not just another shonen-boy that overcomes everything through the power of friendship I like t This series is shaping up to be something I didn't expects.
Shinji feels real and not just another shonen-boy that overcomes everything through the power of friendship I like those stories too, but this is a very fresh take on a teenager with problems. Very glad to move on to the third volume: D Over and Out! Aug 31, Vittorio Rainone rated it really liked it.

I'm glad that Misato finally realized that Shinji is a human being with feelings and that maybe he needs some things said out loud. A decent mech manga. I will probably return to it in the future but until then I will prefer Gurren Lagann. Jul 02, Paula rated it really liked it Shelves: It's picking up pace! Aug 03, Eric rated it it was amazing.
A interesting deconstruction of the mecha genre. I quite enjoy the comics more than the show actually.

Jun 18, Un Lector Nocturno rated it liked it. Me esta gustando bastante: Apr 02, Charles rated it liked it Shelves: At least, in my experience that seems to hold true, as Neon Genesis Evangelion is the second manga from Viz I have come across that was an anime first and a manga second. The premise, in my opinion, is not quite as good, but that might be more because I like the idea of wolves that can change to people. It might just be that I am reading it now and not watching it, but the manga seems to explain a bit more what has happened and does a good job showing the inner struggle of Shinji.
In any event, this volume opens with Shinji getting accustomed to Misato and her apartment and her pet Pen-Pen, who I had completely forgotten about and who is pretty awesome. It is obvious as he moves throughout the plot and interacts with characters that he is someone who very much wants to be accepted for who he is, to be valuable and cared for and all that.
It also becomes fairly obvious that he is a flake. This seems to stem from a genuine feel of worthlessness, that he expresses by assuming that no one wants anything to do with him. His family has always been distant and dismissive, and he seems unable to make friends. It is a pretty sharp break from traditional manga protagonists, though since it came out it has been copied a bit. The writer notes in the back material that Shinji is in no ways what one would consider a hero. Which is fine by me. More like he would threaten to kill himself to try and get attention.
But really, in this volume we see him going through the motions of training with the EVA, of defeating another angel. But that seems a bit off, too, because it seems that he does want to do it.
He wants the recognition and praise. Gendo orders to send Rei in Unit, due to Unit's arm has not regenerated yet, with the Dummy Plug for backup. Shinji stands watching Zeruel 's energy beams, and remembers his decision. Kaji got Shinji to a hidden supplies cellar to talk with him about the post-Second Impact issues. Rei goes in Unit, but it rejects her, and Gendo thinks that it is trying to reject him. Despite this surprising order, Rei accepts going in Unit, saying that she can be replaced.
The Angel's blast has now penetrated the last armor plates of the GeoFront, and Asuka is prepared to intercept it. The poverty has taken over the countries and there wasn't enough food, so Kaji and his younger brother and other five has escaped to get the food. And one night, their group decided to sneak to a military warehouse, and it was Kaji who was sent to get the food.
He was captured by the soldiers, and they threatened him if he doesn't tell about his friends' whereabouts. He told them in fear of death, and when he escaped of them, he found his brother and friends dead.

Asuka is still fighting against Zeruel, but her weapons weren't any good due to the Angel's powerful A. Meanwhile, Kaji continues his story to Shinji, and how he met Misato, and about her past because she was the only survival of the Katsuragi Expedition, and she saw the whole and that they do not deserve happiness, neither Shinji as well.
Back to the GeoFront, where Zeruel counter-attacked Asuka with its foil-like arms, which sliced Unit's arms. Asuka charges at the Angel with the armless Unit, and the Angel cuts its head. And back again in the hidden cellar, Kaji tells Shinji that he is like him and Misato, because he survived at the cost of Toji's death, and motivates Shinji to return to NERV.
Despite getting the bomb through Zeruel's A. Field, but the Angel has protected its Core with membrane, leading to Unit to lose its another arm, and Zeruel disabling it by stabbing its head. Unit us still rejecting the Dummy Plug, and the screens around Gendo show him Shinji's picture and he asks Yui if that is what she wants. Shinji returns and asks him father to let him pilot Unit, and Zeruel has started descending to Central Dogma.
