I was disappointed in the portrayl of Erin, the female lead - I had a hard time relating to her, and frankly found her thought processes to be slightly stupid. I had a hard time believing in her ability to own and operate a classy urban bar in Houston, Texas, considering how immature she appeared to act most times. The saving grace of this story, of course, are the awesome shower scenes, and the awesome shower in which they occur.
Pass the shower gel, please. Aug 20, Kimberly rated it it was ok. This book was included in the bundle because of the steamy shower sex and yes, the shower sex was, well, steamy and well written. The rest of the book? All the words meant what the author thought they meant which is always a struggle for Harlequins so it wasn't a complete wash. Okay I intended the pun. Although I'm finding most of the Blaze books I read are better edited and written than some of the other lines. I gave it two stars because it was written by an author who knows her spelling and grammar more than the story contained in the e-ink.
I didn't like the dueling love stories of Erin with her man and Cali with hers.

Have you never read a Julia Quinn, Ms. That woman is the Queen of weaving enough teasers into a book to get the reader to jump on the web to find out when the next one is going to be released. Also all the characters were too damaged to be real then they did things out of character for them. How did I know it was out of character? The character said so.

All the guilt and hand wringing of every character over their individual made up neurosis got old really quick. Don't get me started on the emails to NPCs who doled out useless pop culture psychobabble at the heroine's every irrational meltdown. Another problem is the instantly rosy resolution.
No talking for six months and then bam back in the shower no questions asked. They said I love you so that must make everything instantly fixed. I'm going to try that with my credit card company. Now raise my limit and waive the late fee. Apr 28, Layla rated it liked it. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. It was an okay short-read and very sexy. Still, there were some things I just didn't understand.
In all good one-shot romances, the two main lovers have some big disagreement or something that stirs their emotions and makes them separate and then later realize their love for each other. After reading so many, I'm still not tired of it. Erin It was an okay short-read and very sexy. Erin was upset that he didn't tell her earlier but I can't understand why she was so mad.
Yeah, sure I'd be upset if my boyfriend refused to tell me about his job Erin never asked Sebastian what he did for a living. She let him believe that their relationship was only about sex. His appearance as the famous author, Ryder Falco, at her restaurant saved her business. So, why did she decide, the moment she saw him there, that he was nothing but a jerk? Why was she so hurt and angry?
I don't think that anyone would feel this way in real life. And, if they did, I'd say that that person was being way too emotional. Hell, if my boyfriend showed up after like a week of dating as a super famous author that made tons of money for my failing restaurant I'd probably be ecstatic. Aug 15, Jen rated it it was ok Shelves: I remember one of the first responses I got to some writing I did early on -- it was a pretty caustic email that basically ended up being a whole lot of frustration on the reader's part about the potential in what I'd written, but the utter lack of carrying it through.
That's essentially what I felt here. I suppose this is erotica -- possibly the first book truly in that genre that I've read despite my months-long romance kick. And, as such, the sex should have been good. But instead it f I remember one of the first responses I got to some writing I did early on -- it was a pretty caustic email that basically ended up being a whole lot of frustration on the reader's part about the potential in what I'd written, but the utter lack of carrying it through.
But instead it felt like a whole bunch of scenes -- some more explicit than others -- thrown together with the intention of eliciting heat, but falling entirely short. I think the problem is that I know Alison Kent can be a great writer. Yes, I've only read one other book of hers, but it was soooooo much better than this one. I wanted to care about these characters and see the attraction, but I just couldn't. Heck, I wanted to feel the heat, but I couldn't feel that either. It just wasn't there for me. I need actual character development.
I'm not going to stop seeking out this author's earlier works -- Second Chance Cafe was just too good for me not to want to read more of her books -- but I'm definitely going to lower my expectations for some of the older titles. This book was hot, sexy and truly amazing. I loved the indepth decription of the characters. You could invison how each character looked and how they come to life from the writings. I actually truly adored everyone in the book. I did not think there were a lot of over the top situations although there was a section where I felt there was some over reacting but that is highly subjective.
The reason I did not give this 5 stars was because I really felt the end truly lacked closure. I did not get This book was hot, sexy and truly amazing. I did not get a real vivid sense of what was to come and was left a bit empty. Over all the story was great the erotic sections hot and would definilty recommned this book.

The author has created a compelling mystery man here, and he's sexy as hell to top it off. The heroine can't resist taking a chance and gets to know her enigmatic neighbour.
