Merry Yellowstone Christmas | Unsinkable Western History
Historian Lee Whittlesey suggests the tradition evolved from another custom called Savage Days. Regardless of its origins, Yellowstone Christmas ranges from a sedate gathering of employees followed by a turkey dinner to a Savage excuse to blow off steam, so to speak.
My memories of traditions in Yellowstone Park, while I worked there in , are happy ones. Posted by joyce4books on August 24, in Uncategorized. You are commenting using your WordPress.

In time they become friends with others in their same situation. Author Lohse does an outstanding job of bringing the reader into her life as a fledgling in unfamiliar territory, developing into a woman of confidence and compassion. She experiences true, lasting friendships, is given additional responsibilities at work, and learns first-hand about the beautiful but fragile life cycle of wildlife and the wonder of the spectacular landscape of Yellowstone. I highly recommend A Yellowstone Savage: This e-version is the 25th Anniversary Revised Edition and contains pictures the original book did not have.

It took courage to do what the author did, and courage to write about her experiences with such honesty. I found the book disappointing.
She goes to Yellowstone to sort her feelings. She hates her job, has few friends, spends evenings in a Gardiner bar playing pool, and occasionally travels around the park to see the sights. I still have friends from I, too, wrote a book not on Amazon yet, but a copy is available in the West Yellowstone museum.
It seems Joyce and I worked in two different parks.
