There is a tsunami warning. In the story vermin is meant by pest I think because it talks about how vermin is usually shot for instance the magpies. Examples of vermin are maybe possums, magpies, rabbits, stoats A silencer because that is what is mentioned in the story this was a bit of a wild guess. Magpies are dangerous when something is 20 meters away from their nests.
Jake knew Western had been in the house because he saw him climb in when the green car went. Magpies are dangerous when something is near them in eye distance.
