Then again I don't know how closely this reflects the original style. I imagine that even to contemporary Serbian ears, Ducic may sound delightfully antiquated. Everything is otherwise beautiful.

The only comparison I can make is with Jorge Luis Borges. Here is one of my favorites, in its entirety, "The Hand": On marble stairs leading down to the sea, surrounded by people, the beautiful wife of the Victor awaits the return oto the harbor of his galley with purple sails. By her feet clad in gold lie two long slender greyhounds with yellow eyes. When the galley appeared in the sun, he could be seen in golden armor, young, holding in one hand the banner of the Savior and in the other a tall sword.

Walking afterward through the glitter, cheering and clapping, they went together arm in arm, the Victor and the Traitor. Two long, slender greyhounds with yellow eyes walked quietly beside them. That just leaves a translation of Gradovi i Himere, although I don't think such a thing exists Guess that means I'll just have to learn Serbian.
