You can see the rain drops at the funeral on the window of the hearse, the air, the people, the casket and the umbrellas! You can also see fine details on actors faces including the "twinkle" in their eyes!!

This is a double edged sword as you can also see some bad makeup in one part and it is much more noticeable. You may also notice some small things that may bug you however, they did clean up a lot of the special effects so they look amazing for the Remastered Edition!!!

It does not even feel like the same movie at times. The reflection of Set lighting on the actors skin showed really strongly. Some areas seemed far too lit up. This was actually the same on my LCD screens!!! So You have good and bad with that one but I will say I do love how much effort was put into cleaning the video and giving it the HDR treatment.

It was almost a blinding looking glare where the other prints looked more like you would expect real life to had there been no set lights. You will get great details that you have never seen before which is great still. Although it would be much nicer if they fixed the pixel format fro VOD so you could "get up in there" and read things with fine print or see the details that are pixelated up close in some spots. Meaning the Mono hiss you can still very clearly hear in most remixed audios is mostly gone! Although poorly mixed in several areas, the most notedly irritating one at the end, the audio no longer sounds like it was from a mono source for most of the movie.

I seriously loved that one.

It has some of the cleanest audio you will have to date on any copy of Phantasm era movies from the mid to late 70's or early 80s.. The Movie is still nice but needs to have its subtitles cleaned up and the sound fixed before the Blu Ray is released. If you Pre-ordered the Blu Ray that is to be released in the near future as I did and purchased the VOD now available as I did , you may rethink and or cancel it until you can confirm they fixed for the Blu Ray what the VOD version shows being ruined Other 4K remasters like Highlander did a much better job on both subtitles and the audio mixing so it is not all 4k Remastered films that have bad mixing and dog dooty quality subtitles.

Only this phantasm remastered Video On Demand so far has such bad mixing towards the late middle to the end of the movie and subtitles that do not line up at all during most of the film. If they fix the Audio mixing, they would get an 8. I Truly hope they fix this so as not to ruin my Christmas gift from my Mom. Preferably also fixing the huge contrast of some voices VS loud music or the sound effects being DB too loud in 3 areas.

It does suck having to play with the volume at times on a surround sound because the mixing was not as good as it should have been. It was completely terrible at the end scene between Mike and Reggie when he plays the song "Sitting Here at Midnight" while Mike goes up the stairs.

You terrified millions in their nightmares but were always humble in real life and in my dreams. You will be missed. The world lost a beloved icon and a wonderful loving person. I knew the subject would make a great horror movie.

Phantasm (film) - Wikipedia

This of course triggers his already active curiousity, and along with his brother and their ice-cream vendor and musician friend Reggie Bannister he becomes involved in trying to stop the Tall Man, who in addition to his superhuman strength shows a talent for flinging whizzing lethal silver spiked spheres at people's heads.

The bodies pile up and disappear as the Tall Man reanimates them to be dwarf slaves in some alternate world As ridiculous as this all sounds and is , combined with the great soundtrack, sometimes unintentionally hilarious dialogue and visuals, and bizarre scenes that don't have any relevance whatsoever to the already convoluted storyline such as Reggie suddenly whipping out his guitar for an impromptu jam with Jody , and some truly campy and gory special effects the film was originally rated X for the sphere scenes , it somehow all works, because all this and more make "Phantasm" a prime example of the Camp Horror Classic genre.

If you enjoy this genre and have never seen this film, you're in for a treat! One person found this helpful. I usually don't like movies that are a little mind bending or bizzare. This is the first one I've liked. Usually the lead characters always screw up make mistakes and you end up hating them because they're so stupid. The guys do it all right. For a film the acting was pretty good.

It wasn't over the top campy horror flick.
