When long-pressing a word, you get an anchor that will allow you to select a single word, sentence, or entire paragraph. You can then highlight it or add a note.
When you add a note, a virtual keyboard appears that allows you to manually add one. There are also a few other notable options. You can monitor your reading progress with a dedicate button on the bottom of the screen. It tells you how much time remains in a specific chapter and the estimated duration on when you will complete the book.
Some e-reading apps have this at the bottom of the screen while you are reading a book, I like how Kobo makes this optional. Speaking of optional, there are also settings that allow you basically turn off page numbers, and everything like that, so it just shows the text on the screen and no other progress indicators. The Clara HD has a rapid page turn engine.
You can turn this feature on by going to the reading settings menu and choose to turn pages by tapping or swiping, or by swiping only. This new system is great, it allows you to tap your finger rapidly on the screen or gesture and it will change the pages very quickly.
You can also hold your finger down on the screen and it will also turn the pages. It is also incompatible with sideloaded EPUB books. With that, we challenge print-loyal booklovers, and their friends, to try digital reading for just one week. The high resolution display and Comfortlight PRO front-lit technology makes it a worthy upgrade. It also has a number of security features and rapid page turn enhancements to make reading ebooks a cut above the rest. Kobo has also abandoned SD cards for the past few generations, and although you can delete content as soon as you finish reading it, something has to be said for expandable storage.
Kobo Clara HD He has been writing about audiobooks and e-readers for the past ten years. This looks like it was made for me. Is this the model Walmart will sell? I was going to buy this but I splurged and bough a new ipad yesterday. You failed to mention that it has no waterproofing. It does not automatically sync. You have to transfer the book to your Kobo via Adobe Digital Editions.
You can get Overdrive books directly to. I would like to know the difference compared to Nook Glowlight 3.

You said it is worth upgrading from kobo glo hd I have one. Pls make a video comparison with kobo glo hd if it is possible. Ordered it right away as my old Glow HD is almost impossible to use outside because of the shiny bezel. They all seem to suffer from light bleeds on the lower right and left hand sides. Compared to my Aura, the light bleed is truly bad and very annoying.
I love how much more responsive it is to page turning, and how the light slowly changes to orange at night. I also love the shape, and the nicer, blacker case. But that light bleed…. This is a little bit concerning, about to buy one in the UK. How is the second one in terms of back light bleed and how happy are you with it as a keeper…? I went back to the store and they opened a third unit for me, same issue.
I have opened the back of mine and added some foam spacers that push on the screen from behind there the bright spots are, and that seems to help somewhat. I have just bought one and my first impressions mirror your own, regarding the back light bleed. I see little point, with what you write, going back for an exchange and it is either keep it and put up or return for a refund. Great idea about the foam spacers. I opened the back off mine and noticed that it uses a std Micro SD card, useful if I should ever need to go beyond 8GB.
The build quality and fit is no hwere near as good. Kinda disappointing with that.

If they got it right on the Glo HD then they should have done the same with this model. If I take the back off could I then fit some foam spacers without the need to remove any of the screws or do they need to be removed and board taken out…? If so that seems a little worrying…? It will not be that bad if I can place some foam spacers inside so that the pressure of the cover presses down on the spacers and hopefully helps. Just take the back off insert a fingernail on the bottom and move the nail along so it pops off , and then test the pressure at the areas you think are of concern.
Apply the the spacers in those areas they are away from all the electronic bits. I use spacers from the hardware store that have a stick back. At least I think it does. I can attach those to the metal backplate and also on the other side, where there is space to do so. At least it might help. I did see one review on this Clara HD with a comparison to a Kindle device, they noted a blue hue to the screen.
Kobo Clara HD e-Reader Review
Whilst mine is not like that there is a colour shift away from white when compared with the Glo HD. I placed some foam spaces, semi hard foam type, in position but sadly the improvements were negligible if anything at all. Overall with the bleed and the definite blue colour hue, compared to the Glo I am not that impressed.
However using the default, class 4, micro SD card in the Clara and the Glo I was pleasantly surprised at how. Ok, I fixed it. If you want to stop the sideways light bleed, you have to take the back plate off, and then unscrew the tiny little screws 4 in each corner. The you start pushing the screen off the frame, starting with the top, to detach the sticky substance they applied to the frame. Next, you clean the screen, then you cut two strips of BLACK electrical tape that are as long as the side of the screen or longer — cut off the excess. You make sure to apply the edge of the black tape to correspond with the light grey inside edge of the frame.
Basically, where your visible screen ends. Then you stick it down so it covers the outside edge of the screen. Make sure it is stuck down well. Cut it off at the metal edge. Put the screen back onto the frame, and screw it back on. Apply the backplate, and voila. Now that you have created an effective seal I can understand why that worked. For me I tried a second unit, in store only, and that was very similar to my first. So there was little point in exchanging it.

This does seem to be a manufacturing problem rather than a single unit defect. At that point I asked to see an Aura One and was very pleased with the extra screen size. Yes it does cost quite a lot more than the Clara but I was impressed enough to buy one. I imagine that I will need a six inch reader, that is what I have always had, and would like to keep the flexibility. So a Clara, with a bit of DIY, could still be considered with what you write.
Thanks for the very detailed instructions, most appreciated. I wondered if it would be necessary to remove all the screws but as you have already done this I now know that it is the four corner ones only. No, not all screws not the ones with the washers , just the 4 corner ones. I did initially remove all the screws, but as it turns out, it was unnecessary. At that point, nobody could know if it has been messed with or not. Point taken about the warranty. At least now you get a functional reader without any light bleed.
Great result there and well done for sorting. I absolutely believe that Rakuten dropped the ball on that one. Simple application of blackout tape would have taken care of the issue. I have never taken apart my Aura version 2 , but since there is no bleed, I want to bet that they have applied tape on the sides of that model.
There is a thread over at blog the ebook reader about this Clara and the amount of purple who have returned numbers of these due to the light bleed is quite concerning and completely avoidable. At least my Kobo Aura One has a reasonable screen. The best that we have tho is on the Kobo Glo HD. I posted my above instructions there too. Maybe it will help someone. The bottom already has tape.

Bring the tape all the way down to meet with the tape on the bottom. If you want, you can add some to the top as well. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Honolulu, Hawaii , U.
