NOËL COWARD THEATRE

As a conscript in war-time Japan's military, a pacifist struggles to maintain his determination to keep his ideals. During WWII a soldier is beaten so badly by a superior officer he is left deaf. After the war he is an inventor and meets this officer at the patent office. The man is still the bully he was. A Japanese pacifist, unable to face the dire consequences of conscientious objection, is transformed by his attempts to compromise with the demands of war-time Japan.

This gripping docudrama is a fictionalized account of what could happen to a Japanese family when one of their sons shames them in front of the entire nation. On his deathbed, a wealthy businessman announces that his fortune is to be split equally among his three illegitimate children, whose whereabouts are unknown to his family and colleagues. A bevy of lawyers and associates then begin machinations to procure the money for themselves, enlisting the aid of impostors and blackmail. Yet all are outwitted by the cunning of the man's secretary Keiko Kishi , in this entertaining condemnation of unchecked greed.

Beside the fact that it has the beautiful and talented Keiko Kishi in it, this is an excellent movie. The twists and turns will keep you wondering.

Inn of Evil A Soldier's Prayer The Human Condition II: There is even a character called Morgan who kickstarts the play by addressing a group of young men and effectively urging them to look in their hearts and write. Toby, his longtime lover, is an egotistical, sharp-tongued writer whose success as a novelist and dramatist is based on the denial of his past. This leads to the same clash of values that animates Howards End.
