I really liked the way they finally opened up to each other, and began to trust again. Jul 11, Christina rated it liked it Shelves: I liked this book. I wish I could have seen more verbal interaction with the characters instead of so much repetitive thoughts going on in the characters' minds. Otherwise it was a light, simple, enjoyable read. The heroine sort of bothered me in the beginning because I really don't like nosey people.
Once she stopped poking around though I f I liked this book. Once she stopped poking around though I found her to be likable. Mar 23, Donna rated it did not like it. While I haven't loved all of the Conard County books, I have at least liked them.

The biggest problem was that neither Max or Liza were likeable or appealing and the plot was primarily composed of the couple going on and on about their emotional issues with a couple of bedroom scenes and a couple of pages of suspense. Of course, no Conard County book would be complete without the obligatory appearances of Nate, Gabe and Micah even though their characters added little to t This was disappointing!
Of course, no Conard County book would be complete without the obligatory appearances of Nate, Gabe and Micah even though their characters added little to the plot. I didn't like anything about Liza; Max was tolerable and would have been better if paired with a more appealing partner.

Rachel Lee does it again! I loved how she made the characters three dimensional and really let you get inside their heads to see what Max McKenny is an undercover ATF agent, hiding out as a professer, until it's time to testify at the trial that will put away a group of homegrown terrorists.
I loved how she made the characters three dimensional and really let you get inside their heads to see what they were thinking and feeling.
The plot was realistic and the conclusion, while a bit abrupt, was satisfying. This was a good story in which adjusting to a new self-image and rebuilding after one's previous life seems to be over is a factor for both protagonists. I also like that the heroine, while a victim in some points of the plot, is no pushover.

Mar 10, Gloria rated it really liked it Shelves: I found the plot line in this Conard County entry frustrating. There were too many errors made by both protagonists. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 3 is that Ms Lee draws interesting characters, even when I truly want to shake them! Not my favorite in the series, but worth reading. Series was designed to cover groups of books generally understood as such see Wikipedia: Like many concepts in the book world, "series" is a somewhat fluid and contested notion. A good rule of thumb is that series have a conventional name and are intentional creations , on the part of the author or publisher. For now, avoid forcing the issue with mere "lists" of works possessing an arbitrary shared characteristic, such as relating to a particular place.
Avoid series that cross authors, unless the authors were or became aware of the series identification eg. Also avoid publisher series, unless the publisher has a true monopoly over the "works" in question. So, the Dummies guides are a series of works. But the Loeb Classical Library is a series of editions, not of works.
