She surprised me by wanting to hurt herself physically in this book as well. There's also a scene when there's a mystery guy and one of Ben Walden's acquaintances acting funny at his house yet does she tell them?
Conviction
They were suspicious, why didn't she open her mouth? She has an "epiphany" much much later in the book about this scene. If you are suspicious enough to get the heck away from the strange guy, why don't you tell someone? Then there is Charlie. In book one he is not super bright, a bit childish and immature at times could get jealous however, I liked how his character read off the pages. Well, he was crazy with jealousy, untrustworthy of Addie, kept secrets, went crazy instead of talking to her and his violent temper was just too much then I had remembered last time around.
He also would laugh a LOT at the most inopportune times and was a double standard kind of guy. That's not the Charlie I grew to love in book one. We never really knew what he was up to. He also didn't seem that concerned for Addie or her safety to me. If he was, it wasn't portrayed well. There is also the "friendship" with Elise that is never explained to her father. She's been home-schooled her whole life. When and how does she befriend a woman in California and no one questions her on it?
Doesn't sit right for me. Also, at one point the guys want the person who ratted them out. That's never brought to light either. All in all, the story was full of holes, lies, tempers and jealousies. They are trying to hang on to their clandestine relationship even while his "gang" still participates in very illegal activities.

They love each other desperately even to the point that their waiting until she's 18 to consummate their relationship falls by the wayside-- but beware all steam in this book happens off screen, only discussed. Nothing erotic about this book.
But, with Charlie's hard life and years in prison he is easily swayed when jealousy rears its ugly head and even his own gang members suspect Addie of turning them into the cops. Charlie ends up in jail and both he and Addie are heartbroken being torn apart. Everyone that reads my reviews know how it ends, because I don't read a book that ends otherwise, but I'll keep the suspense so you can read it for yourself.
The only flaw in Wanted 2, "Conviction" is that there are a few unanswered questions brought up that were never answered. Also, from time to time it was difficult to tell who was actually doing the speaking. But, basically this is a story of Charlie's and Addie's love, started in "Wanted" and finished in "Conviction. It was an amazing conclusion for the wanted series. When i read the book blurb i thought that after Addie would go to college she would be preoccupied with other things so she wouldn't have time for Charlie and as a result their relationship would fall apart, but fortunately nothing like that sort of thing happened.
Not only their feelings were still pretty strong but there was even some suspense and action which makes the reader have that feeling of danger i so much enjoyed in the first book. Th It was an amazing conclusion for the wanted series. The only thing that i thought was wrong with this book is the fact that some of the things Charlie did in order to protect Addie were extreme!!
Other than that the story was pretty good and i loved the way the series ended. Oct 07, Emilia rated it it was amazing. I loved the Shakespeare tie-in and the development of everyone from the last book. As hoped, the romance was swoon-tastic and Charlie was just as charming as ever.
Oct 16, Nancy's Romance Reads rated it it was amazing. Wow, what an exciting story! The impossible romance between Addie and Charlie continues in Conviction but with many new challenges and yet more fearless than ever. After running away from the kidnapping episode that brought them together, Addie and Charlie are finally able to enjoy each other. However, things aren't as easy for them since Charlie is still a wanted criminal and Addie has to keep their relationship a secret from everybody to protect him.
Later, some tension and se 4. Later, some tension and secrecy start to develop between them when one assignment of Charlie's crew is put in jeopardy. Also, the constant interference of an FBI agent raises questions of trust which puts Addie in great danger. That's when Charlie is forced to make some extreme decisions to ensure Addie's safety but at the same time knowing that he may have to give her up forever. I loved the action, suspense, tension, and drama in this story but mostly I loved to see Addie and Charlie's relationship grow so strongly.
She was definitely a girl that knew exactly what she wanted and wasn't afraid to fight for it. At the same time I was really touched to see the vulnerable side of her. In her toughest times her agony was palpable and I really hurt with her. Furthermore, her devotion and love for Charlie were truly inspiring. Charlie became even more humble than ever in my eyes. His constant doubting of being worthy of Addie's love was both sweet and romantic.
The level of affliction that he was put through in the story was heartbreaking and yet, I loved that everything he suffered was for the ultimate purpose to protect his Addie. He was a true hero! I totally recommend it! You are what I want. I'll love you until the day I die. Whether that's tomorrow, an hour from now, or sixty years from now, and whether you feel the same or not. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series, Wanted, and I'm so glad that Conviction was just as good.
This book didn't quit have as much Charlie as the first, but I loved all the Charlie we did get. He is so deeply in love with Addie! They go through so much to be together. Their love, although formed under unusual circumstances, is so strong and vibrates from the pages. Both love each other with such intense emotions, and neither can hardly live without the other. Then just when everyth I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series, Wanted, and I'm so glad that Conviction was just as good.
Then just when everything is going good, it's all turned upside down. The FBI agent Adam is around again, there's a break in at Addie's dorm, Charlie is back on the news again and then everyone is missing. You'll be kept on the edge of your seat anticipating what's going to happen.
I truly loved Charlie. Something about his character just pulls me in. Maybe it's how fierce and unabashedly he loves Addy. There is no doubt in anyone's mind how strong his feelings are or to what lengths he'd go to protect and keep her safe. Even from the very beginning in the first book when they have just kidnapped her, he wanted her safe. Rare deep love for sure. Addy's love took a little longer for her to put words to, but she felt it as well. Good book you'll enjoy. Great for teen aged readers.
Dec 24, Christa Lane rated it it was amazing Shelves: This book had me at the end of my seat the whole time I read it. I was so involved in it I became more worried about Charlie's and Addie's problems than my own. Relationship struggles, death, and jealousy all can make a book good but you have to put them together like Amanda did to make this book amazing! I loved this book definately and recommend it a thousand times over. Oct 06, Sarah rated it it was amazing.
Conviction is a great read. View all 3 comments. Oct 14, Remi rated it it was amazing Shelves: A dark read very emotional , but the romance more than made up for it. Jun 10, Rose Maniscalco rated it it was ok. I thought the first book in this series, Wanted, was a decent read, but this book was just absurd to me. The writing was ok, so I gave it two stars but the premise was ridiculous. Addie has figured out a way to be with Charlie. She goes away to college in California to be near him and so that her Dad and brother won't know.
Before she leaves, she strikes up a friendship with Adam, the FBI agent that is assigned to her case. She decides to keep in touch with him HUH? Charlie hates this idea, no I thought the first book in this series, Wanted, was a decent read, but this book was just absurd to me. Charlie hates this idea, not because he's FBI which would make sense , but because he thinks Adam is interested in Addie. Addie seemed annoyed by her Dad and brother contacting her and wanted to cut all ties with them so they wouldn't ask questions she didn't want to answer.
Addie has delusions of introducing Charlie to her Dad and brother and them accepting him. She also is so worried about their relationship and how Charlie feels all the time. Meantime, Charlie seems even more volatile and dimwitted in this book and again I don't get the connection. The ending was just way to unbelievable for me. I won't be reading any other books from this author. I have mixed feelings towards this book. Some parts of it I liked and other parts not so much. I think the low rating is mainly due to my opinion of the characters and how they've changed since the first book.
My Problems with Addie: Well, it's not surprising that I had a couple of problems with Addie in this book. In Wanted , I found her to be very childish at times as well as slightly annoying. Well, this book was no different.
I understand I have mixed feelings towards this book. I understand that the story is mostly based around her and Charlie's relationship, but the girl had a one-track mind. Charlie became everything to her. She didn't know how to balance her relationship and her regular life. As mentioned before, Charlie became her everything, to the point that without him she felt she couldn't function. She thought Charlie was dead because that's all she would hear from the news. Plus, his injuries were so bad, she thought it wasn't possible for him to live through it.
So, she was willing to kill herself over a guy who she wasn't quite sure was dead. I know that forgiving someone is the right thing to do, but she forgave Charlie a little too easily, in my opinion. He agreed to it. Conversation between Addie and Reid: I leave him to it, right? But if you want something done right, you should do it yourself. Thoughts wove their way around my brain, stemming sharp things into me that I didn't want to admit.
Charlie had agreed to kill me; instinctually felt it in my bones. Yet, he had once made me believe he'd hurt me. For us, there didn't seem to be much of a line between deception and truth. So, after coming to this conclusion, she yells at him for a couple of seconds, he says he would never hurt her, and then they go and make love afterwards. I felt so sorry for her brother and her father, they were so out of the loop about everything.
Plus, I didn't like how she called her roommate instead of her father. I bet they were worried sick about her, and not just that, but Robbie had just been to a funeral of one of his best friends. And I can't even imagine the pain her and Charlie has put her father through. And it all goes back to my first problem, how she puts Charlie above everyone else.
I really hate the fact that Charlie seemed really unlikable in this book.
Conviction (Devine, #2) by D.H. Sidebottom
I adored him in the first one! He loves Addie, and yet he doesn't trust her. For one, why would he believe Reid, who hasn't liked Addie since day one? If he loved her so much, why didn't he just talk to her? He always says how she's a horrible liar. Couldn't he know if she was telling the truth? Which brings me to my next problem.
All of this could've been avoided had they communicated and kept no secrets from each other. Plus, what was with him causing that fight in jail. He wanted the inmates to beat him to the point of dying. He was suicidal just as she was. Are they even worth mentioning? They didn't really play a huge part in this book as the first.
I still love Polo, even though they treat him like crap: He started to grow on me. I'm just glad he came to his senses in the end. I still adore her. I think her and Addie will have a great relationship. And as for Reid: That pretty much sums it up! What I liked about this book: I know that so far, this seems like a negative review, but there were some things I liked about this book. For one, I absolutely loved that there were some action scenes this time around.
I'm talking about Addie learning how to fire a gun and having to put her newly learned skill to use. Also, it might seemed like I was completely annoyed with Addie and Charlie, but there were times when I found them to be cute. He painted a wall in her room with purple roses. He's always sketching something for her. I understand dedication but at times it was just too much. I think it's safe to say that I liked Wanted better than this book.
I think the reason why I liked the first book better is because of the idea someone falling for the person who kidnapped them. It completely baffled me. Not to mention that it wasn't the kind of book I usually read. Even though, I wasn't a huge fan of this book, I still am open to reading more from this author. Jun 24, Azusa rated it really liked it Shelves: It did not capture me, despite making references to the first book, and I could not get into it. Oct 13, Jazzy rated it liked it Shelves: I was rather surprised that there was no sex, like absolutely none at all; especially as this is such a character driven story.
Usually I'm complaining that there is too much sex with under-developed characters that I'm not invested in and therefore find the sex-fest boring. But in this case, I like Addie and Charlie. I am so happy with the way this ended for Isla and Jake! Sep 03, Ashleyjo added it. While I loved the plot in book one, I had a lot of problems with believability. Too many elements were just too far from what any plausible action, thought, or happening would be in reality. I didn't necessarily have that problem in book two, but it did have its own set of problems.

The Good I like unexpected. And, this book delivers that quite a few times. The Bad Plot points don't add up So, J While I loved the plot in book one, I had a lot of problems with believability. So, Jake takes the blame for murders he didn't commit. According to the storyline, he didn't know the murderer's intent until after the fact and only planned to push Isla away once he realized he'd be going to jail. Here's the problem with that He apologizes at this point and tells her no matter what happens to remember he is sorry and warned her.
Isla's rape and the resulting death took place 10 fing years ago. Why would these people take revenge now?!? Jake and Isla meeting again was by chance. Her answering an employment as was by chance. There's nothing to be manipulated about either incident. So, basically she just happens back into his life. Most readers will overlook such because there's so many revolving doors here and so much going on sexually and romantically. But, logical, suspense thinkers will see these plot holes blinking at them like fireworks. But, for shit's sake everything working out perfect and everyone surviving unscathed on the 'good guy side' is a bit much for such a harsh, dark storyline.
See a Problem?
Ehh, I dont know It just felt like the ending didn't fit the rest of the story. I'm glad all ended well; it just didn't feel authentic to the rest of the story somehow. Overall Hell if I know what to rate this book or who to even recommend it to?!? It was one of those books that I had to finish reading even though I grew highly aggravated with the lack of believability in book one and the plot holes in book two. Jun 14, Christine rated it liked it Shelves: First half a strong 4 stars, the second half I give 2.
It all went downhill for me. I have to believe in the hero's love for the heroine and I did until Jake started being stupid. I hate stories where the guy has a child by another woman and that other woman is always around. I mean Genesis is always around and I get that Jake had a plan so he needed Genesis, but he still kept her around and really never allowed a bad word to be said about her.
Jake protected Genesis and felt bad for her since he felt he owed her because of their child who died. I hate baby mamma situations and Genesis is evil. Another thing that bothered me was that Jake believed that Isla cheated on him with one of his closest friends, Kris. Even when it was proven that the picture of the two of them was fake, Jake barely apologized. I actually don't think he did apologize. There was no groveling.
Isla was too quick to go "okay, Jake, all is forgiven. How is that right?? Jake was married to Isla at this time and they had a child and he is doing stuff like that when Isla is telling him she never Would hurt him.
