Recommend these novels and this author. I believe the first in this series was called The Shopkeeper. I recommend reading them in order. Normally I wouldn't have selected a western, but was looking for something light. Like a bolt of lightning I was snapped awake soon after reading the first chapter. None of the subsequent books have disappointed. I can't say enough god things. This is a stand alone story although it will make more sense to you and be more enjoyable if you read the other books first.
I highly recommend this series.

They are very well written, with great characters and plot lines that will keep you interested until the very end. A little mystery, some shoot outs, and your typical and non-typical adversaries. I do not read westerns, unless they are written by James Best. I enjoyed, "Jenny's Revenge". The old west feel that comes from Best's creation is fun and dangerous and damned entertaining.
I would absolutely love a novel written in first person with McAllen as the main character. His inner musings, his secret opinions of the other characters, his thought process as he works through situations.

I love this character. I would read that with relish. I thought the story was just okay, but I gave it four stars because of the author's writing skills and creative style. This was a fantastic book. I was sorry to see an end. Now there are no more in the Steve Dancy series apparently.

That being said I am not sure who to root for in the story. Jenny's story seemed to get lost then found then lost again and finally found at the end. This is one that requires more than one listen to get the true gist of the story and there are too many books to listen to before I leave this earthly plane to do that. It is a good old fashioned western though filled with intrigue, betrayal, revenge, and yes love. I found the narrator's style to be confusing to the point it made the book hard to follow. Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent?
Why or why not? I'm on the fence about this one. While the story moved fairly well, the plot was a little confusing.
However, I did like how it was all neatly tied up at the end. Would you recommend Jenny's Revenge to your friends?
