Lists with This Book. I was so excited when I heard Anabelle Bryant had a new book coming out. When I found out it was a whole new series, I was practically giddy with anticipation. This deliciously crafted love story full of passion, wit, and intrigue is a shining example of why Anabelle Bryant is a rising star in historical romance.

Lunden Beckford, Duke of Scarsdale, had managed for 10 years to stay away from London with its cruel gossip and painful memories surrounding the death of his brother, Douglas. When Lunden met Amelia, she was no longer the young girl he remembered but had matured into a breathtakingly beautiful woman.

And a headstrong woman as well. Things she wished to experience before losing her freedom to marriage. Nothing could keep him there. Something about her calmed his restless soul. Unfortunately, something about her also stirred his desire. No matter how time faded memories, scandal was always a whisper away. She was a danger and a temptation.

He recognized that she acted out of fear and he wanted to help her. He understood her objection to being manipulated and was convinced that she, like him, kept a silent secret. He was left to deal with it alone. He struggled between desire and self- recrimination. I fell in love with Amelia the moment she stole those two puzzle pieces from her brother just to annoy him.

I loved her zest for life. She only wanted control of her life and she was quite outspoken in requesting it. Lunden was the only one who seemed willing to help her get that control. He listened to her and agreed to her list of requests. Why did he hide and lead such a private existence?

He was a man of deep emotion but never allowed himself joy. She wanted to make him happy. I loved watching the two of them discover that, in spite of what they thought fate had planned for them, they were meant for each other. I loved that nothing was rushed in this story. The secondary characters added so much to the story as well. Anabelle Bryant has her work cut out for her redeeming this character with me.

Filmography

He lost sight of what mattered most in this story and made some cruel choices. Bryant makes me love these two again. This series promises to be exquisite. No one writes historical romance like Anabelle Bryant. Her attention to detail and her ability to create true to life, loveable characters is unmatched.

I promise your pulse will race with this story. The passion was to die for and the intrigue and secret dealings will keep you turning the pages. Bryant before, you will fall in love with this new series. Lunden put himself in exile from London after a scandal broke. No wanting to return but having to do so to attend business after his brother's death goes to stay at his friends Matthew's house.

There, he is ask by his good friend to help with Matthew's sister Amelia. To me Lunden does feel he deserves a good women and does not know what to do with the feelings that Amelia is bring out in him. Amelia has always had a place in her heart for her brother good friend and that just seem to keep growing each day with him. Amelia wants some small adventures before turning her life over and works to get Lunden to achieve them. I am such a fan of Ms. Bryant's writing that I became so happy to know she is starting a new series. This book was such a great start to that series Anabelle Bryant, author of 12 amazing romance novels, has the latest distinction of now having her first Regency Romance in print.

A much deserved step on the upwards climb for this indomitable woman. Having read every single one of her previous novels, which are all available in eBook form, I can safely say that Ms. Lundon presents himself at the home of his best friend, Matthew Strathmore, the Earl of Whittingham, for a quiet place to rest his head until his business is concluded.

At his meeting with Matthew, Lundon is asked to help pawn his lively sister off in marriage to a gentleman of the ton. Their mother formulates a list with the virtues required in a husband and hands them off to Lundon. This is where the situation get a tad sticky. For as much as Lundon wants to be done with town and escape, Amelia intrigues him beyond the pale.

Anabelle Bryant has created a new circle of friends and family that this reader is waiting to delve into. Not only do I care about the hero and heroine deeply, but I feel a camaraderie with every single character surrounding the two, even the dastardly wrong brother, Matthew. This book is difficult for me to rate. I finished it, and enjoyed parts of it, but there were some little things that annoyed me a bit here and there. While I get that she was supposed to be feminist, forward-thinking, independent, and strong, to me she kind of came across as careless, reckless, inconsiderate, and incapable of considering how her actions affect other people. To be fair, I have that problem with most "strong a My first book by this author, and definitely not the last! To be fair, I have that problem with most "strong and independent" heroines, so that might be just me.

She's right of course in thinking that marriage will take away all her freedom, and that she deserves a say in how she is to spend the rest of her life. I just didn't like the way she went about asserting her independence, often being careless of servants and everyone else around her. The scandals she causes throwing a suitor in the Thames, lighting another one's pants on fire were just over the top for me I guess everyone else would find them humorous, so again, my bad! I did like that she was determined to get a small measure of independence back, that she took active steps to ensure she had some sort of say in her life though.

And the end kind of made up for it, it was a nice change. Came across to me as a total jerk who barters away his sister's hand in marriage to another total jerk to gain acceptance in society. It's no wonder the heroine hates men given the example he sets. Also, I didn't really buy his change of heart in the end. Typical tortured, wounded, "I ruin everything and everyone just by being in their presence" outcast who closed himself off from life after the scandalous death of his brother which prompted everyone to assume he had killed him to gain the title. After ten years away from everything that reminds him of his loss, he comes back to finally untangle the last remaining mystery surrounding his brother's death and learns to accept his loss and allow himself to move on.

I sort of liked him. Seeing him come to life again because of his "Troublemaker" was sweet and worth reading the book for. One scene that really stuck with me and confused me: Heroine wants to learn how to ride astride. Which she excels at on the first try because she "has watched gentlemen ride for years and studied their motions.

I know I'm not the right person to ask because I've been riding since I was 5, but I'm pretty sure even my first attempt at riding side-saddle would be a total disaster. It's a totally different way of holding yourself and interacting with your horse in my opinion. All in all, this was a nice book! The story just really wasn't my kind of thing which I realize is right in the title, but every now and then I just feel like trying something new and outside my comfort zone. But I am definitely looking forward to the next book, the plot sounds much more my thing.

If you like headstrong, independent heroines and tortured heroes, give this one a try! I thought for the entire book that his name was London Lunden has a dark secret and he has been away from polite society since he was 15 and his brother died, and the gossip said Lunden did it. Poor Lunden, all he wanted was to mourn his brother and the gossip mongers made it impossible to even be in the city. And I get that he wanted to keep things secret, but at the same time, he suffered too.

Amelia must marry, her father is ill and w I thought for the entire book that his name was London Amelia must marry, her father is ill and wants to see her happy. But she is one of those oh so common heroines, lol, outspoken and a disaster. When I heard of things she had done I just wanted to laugh. Lunden has things to take care of and visits his old friend I know I know, Matthew made mistakes but I really wanted him to get a book too, hopefully he will. And yes there is Amelia again, all grown up and beautiful.

He helps her find a husband and have a bit of fun. And obvi they will fall in love and the drama is that dark secret. And he is all brooding and no you deserve better than me! I wanted to shake him and say, but hello, look at what she is offered.

Ms Bryant is a new author to me so I wasn't sure what to expect and what I found was a writer that drew me into the book and for me was a definite page turner.

I also liked the humour especially between Matthew, Amelia and her cat Pandora. I will also be buying more of Ms Bryant's books. Amelia is fighting for her future, one based on her wishes and desires, not thrust upon her by the men in her life, as society would dictate. Wow, what a strong and determined woman, intent on arming herself and demanding the pleasures and freedoms she deserves. I love how there are wonderful layers deliciously woven throughout this story that remain to be unraveled in future books.

A very satisfying read, but also a great tease for what comes next. Highly recommend book 1 in a wonderful new series, Midnight Secrets! And excited to celebrate Anabelle Bryant now in print! Absolutely engaging characters, even those you want to dislike, several of them you also want to get their own story.

I enjoyed the way this couple played with fire and the heat that their romance generated. The underlying mystery of the past scandal and the previous Duke's townhouse adds a dash of intrigue to this story that I just couldn't put down! Aug 27, eyes. Another captivating read from Annabelle Bryant! Angst, disillusionment and a lady's desire to choose her own path bring to bear on this charming story. Lunden Beckford, Duke of Scarsdale, is all one can hope for as the embittered, yet honorable, man who will return to the London and all he loathes to respect the promise he made his friend years ago to have his little sister settled when the time came.

Amelia Strathmore, that little sister is no longer a duckling but has blossomed into the proverbial swan. And this swan is determined to see something of life before being married off. So our disenchanted, glowering specimen of masculinity, finds himself in charge of an outspoken and determined, attractive young woman, who sets conditions upon her doing her duty to marry. And all the responsibility falls squarely on Lunden's shoulders. Are those shoulders strong enough to fight the beckoning call of attraction and rapport that the two experience?

A rather delicious conundrum. And the solving draws both parties into a wickedly, heady dance. Jul 13, Rhonda rated it really liked it. Elegantly written romantic regency This is the first book I've read by Anabelle Bryant and I'm so happy that my friend who is a longtime fan introduced me to her books. Amelia is a woman ahead of her time. Beautiful, strong and smart she believes woman need to have a say in their futures. Lundon is tortured with a past that has kept him from loving and building a family of his own. Reacquainted after 10 years by Amelia's brother Mathew the attraction is powerful though forbidden.

There are some si Elegantly written romantic regency This is the first book I've read by Anabelle Bryant and I'm so happy that my friend who is a longtime fan introduced me to her books. There are some significant twist and turns that help Amelia and Lunden to grow and work through past hurts allowing them to come together for their HEA. The secondary characters play an important part in the story their sub-plots giving the the story additional depth. However Mathew's machinations in getting Amelia married, while realistic for the times really bothered me. He did just barely redeem himself in the end.

I will reveal nothing else. The romantic journey these two people take is just that romantic in every way. Ms Bryant writes unforgettable characters that breath out of the pages. This is a must read. Jul 09, Maggie Whitworth rated it really liked it. Those are my initial feeling when read this book. Amelia is not looking forward to married life , women are downtrodden, put-upon, and used by their husbands. Maybe they both just need the right person to show them the meaning of love , and that happiness is something everyone deserves. What a really good book , thoroughly enjoyed it.

I received an advance copy of this book and chose to submit a review Aug 28, Frankie Reviews rated it it was amazing Shelves: Firstly, I want to say a huge congratulations to Anabelle Bryant for her first in-print book!! So hugely deserved and what a wonderful start to this new series, I have been looking forward to reading this for ages, and I can honestly say that this does not disappoint.

As always with this fine ladies writing, the story is spell-binging with drama a Firstly, I want to say a huge congratulations to Anabelle Bryant for her first in-print book!! As always with this fine ladies writing, the story is spell-binging with drama and flawlessly written with real wit an skill. After years away from London the notorious and equally mysterious Lundon is back, having been forced from his voluntary exile with the death of his brother and rightful Duke, Lundon has to face the one thing that he has been dreading and hiding from, actual public and people.

But, now he has not choice! Lundon is a wonderfully sensual and complex man, there is so much about this mysterious man he has deep pain and issues that he hides well behind his glacial mask, but I just wanted him to find his happiness that he so deserves. If you are lucky enough to be under this man intelligent and soothing gaze, you are a very lucky lady. Amelia has a romantic heart and soul, she refuses to marry any man just because society and her brother dictate it.

At first I thought that Amelia was a little brash and spoilt little thing, she as been indulged to the point she thinks a little too much of herself, But, I love tat my initial thought of her was challenged and soon changed as I soon saw her for the women that she really is; a soulful and a tenacious young woman just wanting love.

This is a delightful, energising read that will keep the reader on their toes. I love the intricate storyline and the relationship between Amelia and Lundon is tense and sensual, there is a spark that jumps at you off the page and keeps you engaged as you wonder what is going to happen between these two. Ms Bryant has created a fun, wonderfully atmospheric and engaging love story that will dazzle and enthral the reader with every page. Romantic, thrilling and beautifully written, very highly recommended! Jul 16, Synergy Quest rated it liked it. The hero, Lunden - he's heartbroken and guilt laden, but the best sort of man.

He has great wells of love to give, but fear of further loss, among other things, shackles him The writing. It's good, clear and quite appealing in some spots. What I didn't like: Basically the rest, but especially She's selfish and self-important. She's right about how disadvantaged women are, but she always charges head first into things only concerned with herself and not how the havoc she wreaks will impact others. She grew very annoying to this reader The brother, Matthew. He's written as a good friend to the hero, but there's little evidence of it.

Yes, it's true he didn't add slander to Lunden's name along with most of the ton, but it also doesn't seem that he came to his defense at all and certainly not frequently. It's unclear how often he and Lunden see one another, but at least here, when Lunden arrives his "friend" allows him to stay at his home, but he asks for quite the favor in return.

His sister is a pill and a pain, seeking Lunden's help with her is more than payment enough for room and board. That sounds like a bad trade to me, not friendship. Matthew treats his sister quite abominably as well. Yes, she's annoying, but trying to saddle her with an old husband and six children is really unconscionable.

All this said, I think the author shows promise. She can write, now she just needs to write characters I can actually like. The next book seems like it may be closer to the sort of story I can get behind. Jul 19, Mai rated it really liked it Shelves: All opinions are my own. I think that it's also symbolic of like you just be really cool to be like hey mom and dad oh yeah I mean I mean don't get me wrong I think anybody that gets involved whether it's acting or music or filmmaking whatever. There's a part of you you know it's you know you do want the recognition validation validation. Now I pick up those novels.

I mean whatever they are my bullets are. And you can quit. Is going to win stuff. You're you're measuring the quality of your work and not necessarily measuring yourself because you know that just get nominated is a privilege and maybe even for Emmys you know there are people who've been nominated so many times and never won before doing they're doing award quality work and think that idea or that standard is something that we could all you know be something like.

So you know we'll we'll. Will my life be over if I don't let the world know. But you know it is it is worthwhile to aspire in that direction. Like somebody asks you so why did you. Why do you act. I want to win the Oscar. So it's actually a refreshing answer because most people give. And of course you have that aspect your personality that yes the work is rewarding and you like the stuff. But most people wouldn't you know they want to jump right out with you know I want. No I mean I think it's great. Why not dream big. We've had this conversation before about dreaming big.

So I'm always learning and I'm never in a place where I'm the best if I'm the best person on set then that set is not as valuable to me as a learning experience because social or for sure for sure. I got to see how he sees the world and how he wants to be a storyteller. That will only benefit me. That's why I every single person that works for me is better than me.

I think that makes sense. That's what I do when I produce stuff I'm like. Let me hire people who know more than I do. So that this movie not only is better than I could make it but also I could learn from it's the shoot for the stars and hopefully you'll hit the moon. I always go for the you know Michelangelo the reaching God reaching towards heaven thing that if I just put my finger up just a little bit brighter and reached towards the heaven that's already going to raise me.

I mean there you know. But some of us want to have a you know an SUV and a lot of different things and a motorcycle and you know maybe things that have inspired us and those are the things that they aspire to because maybe that's what you know and other people that that's what they need. They need to be expressive to eat. You know that's your your soul food and you have to have that. So if someone's really great at doing like like my dad like it's a really great computer engineer and he got challenged in various times of his life in order to grow into that field to live his full potential which is I think incredibly inspiring and he'll probably be like I believe my father said that he'll probably get all whispy but I love you dad.

Every single human being. I encourage you all to live to your potential whatever that means. And it won't be any more black hawk down.

London's Wicked Affair (Midnight Secrets, #1) by Anabelle Bryant

There are people saying writing things on that Facebook Live. What was the project that was the project that was like I'm in college I'm working amateur actor basically still because or you know I've done some Cuney in the theater what project then was that project that said professional actor. Now what was that kind of transition like for you like fried Jasher transition from you know was like community theater. So it was called demons kiss and it was about this vampire I played a vampire.

So it's been really wonderful to see this that much anymore which would be a publisher's great. I think a great thing for soap of for sure. Get people excited about that. You could produce them. Yeah we could sell an animated version and see where we go. So that so that was a show that was first my first paid gig in L.

This is something that's going to have to happen. I guess what it was this movie called To Kristen with love. So the filmmaker is this guy named Jean who I've become really good friends with. He has in his real life his ex-girlfriend killed herself. And so he wrote a short as kind of an homage to that relationship and to her. And I played her in the film and it was just a really it felt really important I guess because it was like his I had seesawed as a way for him to close that chapter for himself and homage to her the family all really took to the film and I remember at the premiere we had a premiere at the TCN Chinese theaters.

And this woman I was on a red carpet interview for it. She's like you have her same eyes and that was crazy for me to be like I've never met this girl that I've played. And that was a reminder of how powerful like what we do can be. You know we talk about you know you went through Theora What is your method or how are you combining methods combined. Acting I think a lot of people think that acting is like trying to be something else but pure honest vulnerable.

And that's scary to show that part of you to people that may judge you in this most recent in the after party I play this racist girl and everyone does and I'm like how people do say but like oh well at least you're honest about your skin color. But if I don't fully commit then the movie shot. So I have to fully commit. It's not the N word. Like I feel bad doing this he goes no it's funny and it's effective. So you need to keep it in here because it tells so much about her character in that moment. He has to like pick me up and drag me out of the bar and I'm like.

But I have to in the moment be fully into it or else what's the point. You what I mean and there is that fine line you know that you know and some people have the technique where they gotta go all the way and get them out. And that's just who I am in general but I feel like why not when you on a set that is doing overnights.

For me the campus was one of the hardest experiences of my life. Like you know I was doing some stuff outside of it and having to shoot having to work in the day and shoot at night at 8: And one of the only way is I was able to get through this was having Rachel as a lead actress like you really. It wasn't permeating me. So I really appreciated that for sure. And I think that you know there was enough professionals and people who had enough experience on the side who knew how to keep it and knew how to keep it behind whatever door they needed to keep a bond which is a maturity thing to you know just understanding your environment and a sense of professionalism.

Any old begins and they'll be talking no gang. If I am remembering the time I'm right on you had done you had shot the after party. It was finishing post-production at the time or they were you were in the throes of editing still and the after party was that your first time as a producer. But it was the most ambitious thing I ever tried to produce. So the budget for that is which is pretty significant.

Sorry for the short term I wish Id seen. It's 18 minutes ago. It felt like 10 I think the pacing is actually not bad as I am and my producing partner will know and he knows I've said this. Make it shorter but then I hit a point where I couldn't find anything else to cut. So I had produced a web series with my friend Ashley called poor me that was super super low fi. Then I produced a Star Wars fan film with my friend Collen which is different from my home and call it and I also produced a horror short called Jetset Alae.

Yeah I remember that that was the first time I worked with Robert Bravo in blood effects capacity. And that's how I would react to on active with you right. Rachel came onto the project because the campus was a really ambitious shoot and it was really going to be really really tough on the lead actor for Ofex reasons. And that when you're dealing with a movie like that you have to cut out as many variables as you can. So it was important not only to get someone that can handle it as an actor but as a person isn't going to get upset and storm off the set because they're uncomfortable in the makeup you know which is I mean you spend almost 12 hours a day in it some.

So you so is you moved not moved but you opened up into producing around there what was the what was the reasoning behind that. He's director friend of mine and I was like oh my gosh there's this George Lucas is doing a fan film contest. It's actually pretty great. Use the force on him to not let me out because I want to stay in these insane asylum because if I go out I'll get captured. So that's the premise.

And we shot it and we realized how. Like why don't we do another thing. And I kid you not three months later we shot just settle and which was a horror film cannibals. I guess I was intimidated because I didn't know what producing meant. It's not a cup of tea but if I have the mind for it I have the temperament for it. So now why not make work that I really like and want to do. What do you like about this. So the lead in a short that's essentially playing like like the after party employing this leading lady and I play that in certain things but there's not as much of it available to me right now because I'm still a young actor not auditioning a ton for television but that is getting better because of me producing stuff for myself and producing material that would be maybe even more appropriate for them looking at total TV.

So yeah that's it on some level every actors producing their career if they're managing it at all there's some level of you know making sure get to be no ship and policing after your managers and lawyers and other representatives. Like or if I present.

  4. But like that's there's a reason why like I think actors are starting to learn that more as it moves into this like multi hyphenate universe. And I think that's the same way for directors and writers like people having to embrace other roles as a producer as a director writer as costuming whatever to get what you want to get the stories you want to get told told No absolutely into that.

Like what would you say to somebody know how long have you been in Los Angeles. What would you say to you ten 10 years ago. The issue was price wise. Yeah just good advice. It would be to just start writing and making films. And who cares if they're good or not. Like make the mistakes then so that the quality of work inevitably goes better and better as your acting gets better and better. And then just stop living in fear would be a huge piece of advice I think to mine yourself. They pay a lot and I'll be like OK I've been like you're. And Jason barely likes himself. Well that's so I know.

And to this day I still have clinical anxiety. You know I've been diagnosed with something went wrong. But I have trouble like putting myself out there professionally sometimes as well. Let them do it. You know it really is.

So what's the big thing. What are you doing right now. So that should be coming out in the spring. I know it's currently called Deadly romance. It's probably going to be retitled because they tend to do that. Playing the headliner is Jennifer Taylor. She was John Tyler Dudley room. She's great actress beautiful. And then that should be out in the spring. What part who would play a like hipster barista. I own a coffee house. So I start sticking my nose into places to try to figure out who it is and Jennifer Taylor is this woman who just moved to this town as a small town.

And so she's kind of trying to figure out what's going on. Is this breeze to grow crazy. Is there someone actually killing people. Is it just people who are leaving town like what's going on. So that's the capacity of my carriage. I won't go into much more because of spoiler alert. So Kallen who did Jetset with me as a director on that he he kind of wanted gusto. No no call and Lawrence Hall and Lawrence was going to college. So then as I am doing this like quirky weirdo who's like always like you know I think the killer is so-and-so.

I don't know I'm just saying Oh well more so it just shut that over the summer and then I'm currently on the festival circuit with the after party which is doing very well. By the way we were having calling on Sunday right. No bullshit I saw a rough cut of it and the rough cut even before the music it was good.

Actually I'm going to let you go. We're and we'll be on. It's at the West Coast Festival in Glendale. Look it up on Facebook. I use it whenever I say that I'm like that I think of the campus and I'm like I'm from Glendale bitch that there's a there's a woman. And she she's on Facebook.

And you know it's all one of the things and you know I always want to support other artists and I was like this is really cool so I bought one and she's like oh thank you so much. And she started telling me that she's seen the movie and she loves the movie. Oh she goes on about that line all the time. By the way she is really cool too. One or two things from her.

That's that is a signature line. It's one of my favorite lines. And it's so because it's got to be more. I think there might be a couple more campus festivals coming up. I think we're into two or three more. We've just signed with a distributor. Yeah and then I'm in profe for a Christmas movie about cat food. People always say oh you hate me I just don't want to own a cat.

I don't dislike it. Would you watch a cat movie. I would watch the movie. Did the dog ever talk to any cats. There were no cops. It was an animal. They say didn't work with animals and you know. It was the dog the dog trainer in the kids best fucking experience I've ever had. Well-behaved I understand I'm an outlier in that. Usually the kids and animals are difficult but they were a breed like this dog was just awesome. And the trainer was so nice. The only thing that I was unaware of at the time because it was probably my second or third union shoot so I didn't realize like how stringent the guidelines were for children and animals.

Oh I mean you know I you know you can know you can work. I think they can be in front of the camera I'm totally not going to be right on this. I'm just throwing numbers. Something like four hours. You end up with about four hours at escaping from the camp. So between all the things that you actually have to.

That was my first first time on a student film I had a children's cast and do this the other day. VO It pays way better than regular acting. Yes there actually may be the need for that. So thank you so very much for coming. Do you have any other random questions for me. But like after the campus I've worked on maybe four or five other projects and typically I would jump right in with people from the last movie and I have like I've purposefully like professionally like him moving on to the next thing.

So like I didn't want to use this person for this or that. There's there's all kinds of different roles we can have.
