Books by Brian Kennedy

I just read this book together with my nine year old daughter. We were both scared, and the twists and turns of the book kept us snuggled up on the bed. I did not think this book would be so creepy, and I enjoyed it very much. My daughter loved it so much that she reread it a second time this weekend, and now she's convinced her brother to read it as a perfect get-ready-for-Halloween book. We're looking forward to reading more of this series. May 26, Suzy rated it it was amazing. For being a younger readers book I really enjoyed this.

It didn't scare me but it did give me a little chill. Nov 02, Jennifer Wardrip rated it really liked it Shelves: Reviewed by Theresa L. So, when Casey's parents tell her that they have purchased a summer house in Stillness, New Hampshire, far away from their home in Manhattan, she is devastated. What will she do? When they refuse to let her spend the summer at Jillian's house, she must accept that her plans will change.

The old farmhouse in S Reviewed by Theresa L. The old farmhouse in Stillness is a dream for Casey's parents. It has plenty of space, and Casey's mom has all kinds of ideas to remodel it. For Casey, who is a bit overly cautious anyway, the house is a nightmare. It's old, dusty, and hot; it needs work; and it feels creepy. Strange things happen beginning the very first day when she finds a message telling her to "Get Out" in the dust on a bedroom mirror.

Bizarre events continue to occur, furthering Casey's feelings that something is wrong with this house. After Casey finds the diary of Millicent Amelia Hughes, another twelve-year-old girl who lived in the house in , she starts to have nightmares and then decides she should find out the house's history. The presences of neighbor boy Erik Greer adds some extra excitement to the summer and he tells her some of the rumors about the house.

This scary story, a part of the Poison Apple book series, will keep readers going until the very end. There are just enough spooky events to make you wonder what will happen to Casey, what did happen to Millie, and what is wrong with the house. It's a fun and fast read for middle schoolers who like a good ghost story.

A fairly quick, interesting read. It's spooky, kind of strange, without being scary or weirding you out. The story is believable and made me want to checkout more titles in the Poison Apple series.

Which Indian River owns- This totally bites! Jul 26, Amy added it. Casey plans to spend her whole summer with her friend, Jillian. They plan to go shopping, spend time at the beach, and get boyfriends. They bought a real fixer-upper home in New Hampshire and plan to spend the whole summer there. Casey is really bummed. As accidents continue to happen to Casey, the more frustrated her parents get. Casey finds a diary where a girl from the s shows that the dreams that are happening to Casey were similar to what the girl had.

What keeps causing the accidents? Is the girl haunting the house? I definitely sympathized with Casey. I think this is definitely one of the better Poison Apple books. I liked the introduction to Erik. I though he added a fun element to the story. Nov 23, Jan rated it really liked it Shelves: Casey is afraid of pretty much everything. She believes every scary story that she hears.

So when her family moves to their new home in the country, Casey is convinced that it is haunted. Afterall, the local folks say it is. Her parents are less than helpful and think that its just her overactive imagination. But this time Casey is right. There is a ghost. Who will believe her? This was a really good book for its type. No it is not great literature, but it is not intended to be. It is suspenseful Casey is afraid of pretty much everything.

It is suspenseful and a little scary. Casey is a likable character. The book has a lot to say about facing your fears. And yes for once there really is a supernatural force at work, not just some lame explanation like so many of these book. I would recommend this book to older kids and tweens. Mar 05, Jenn Doyle rated it liked it Shelves: So this was another book my daughter wanted me to read. I've discovered that I unfortunately have difficulty really getting into most middle grade books Harry Potter was an exception, but it also qualifies as YA.

This wasn't bad, but it didn't make me interested until about half-way through. I've got one other Poison Apple book to read, but I can see why the series would appeal to middle-readers. It's just scary enough to get youngsters nervous, but not really scare the bejesus out of them. Th So this was another book my daughter wanted me to read. The cover art is great and will probably lead more young readers to The Dead End. Apr 22, Ramya A. These books are awesome and I think that they are kind of scary. It all just seems so real!

I think that this book gives a cliffhanger like every GOOD book! I love this book and I would definitely recommend these books!!! May 08, Samantha marked it as to-read Shelves: How do you read this. May 14, Katie Sachkiw rated it liked it. I thought it was very good!

Australian Place Names by Brian Kennedy it was amazing 5. Women live with the very real possibility of being stalked, assaulted, or murdered by someone they know every day. And we know that. But even knowing that we sometimes still trust the wrong person. We have all thought about what we think we would do in a situation like that. But you just never know until it happens to you, do you? What's inside the mind of a killer? We all feel powerless sometimes. We all want to feel a sense of control. Some of us would go much further to assert that control than others, though. Some of us would kill for it.

Everybody is talking about a series and I have to say I had the exact same thought, like what happens to Violet Darger next? I can't wait to find out. Dead End Girl would make a great movie or TV series. Dec 15, Patricia Kaniasty rated it it was amazing. Kept me turning the pages long into the night. New genre for me and I loved it. Jul 16, Yvonne rated it really liked it Shelves: I enjoyed it enough to download 2 in the series. Nov 10, Zane rated it it was amazing. This book was nothing like l expected it would be. I loved this one and you really can't put it down until you know who the serial killer is and if Violet is going to live through this one. Violet Darger is an extraordinary FBI profiler but she had been working in the Victim Assistance division and wants to go into really getting out and investigating.. Her first case comes up and she is sent to Ohio on a serial murder case. He leaves the bodies in plastic bag at dumpsters. Violet is assigned to work with a profiler wh Wow, what an emotional read.

Violet is assigned to work with a profiler who is well known and just as hard to work with, as he likes to work alone. Violet gets involved in the case and is not liked in the small department, but she won't let go when her "gut" is telling her what to do. She meets up with a detective there and at first they clash, but as it goes on, Violet learns that she needs to try to work with the others. But will Violet's intuitions get her killed as she is now one of the targets of the serial killer, they called the "Doll Parts Killer" I loved the character of Violet and her compassion for the victims..

Great book, just waiting for the next one!

Books by Brian Kennedy (Author of A Very Good Man)

Jun 13, Nancy Silk rated it it was amazing. The third victim was dismembered and dumped into a grease dumpster behind a Burger King. There is little evidence for Agent Darger to work with and the very few witnesses seem to be unreliable. Will she be able to find the killer? If she can't identify the killer, there will be, no doubt "Nonstop Action and Intrigue" This first story about rookie FBI Agent Violet Darger is a real page turner, a thriller which will sweep you into the investigation of a violent killer, who can't seem to be stopped. If she can't identify the killer, there will be, no doubt, more victims.

This story is very well written, characters are well developed, and there's not one boring sentence in this excellent novel. May 05, Frances Hartnett rated it it was amazing. But the real strength of the authors is in the drawing of their characters. Their empathy for the monstrous characters is evident, and while this reader can't help but admire and pull for the sympathetic characters, none of them is without human flaws.

I look forward to reading more volumes in the Violet Darger series and recommend this book to others who enjoy crime novels and police procedurals. May 25, Amy rated it liked it. Very ok This book wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. I felt no affinity for any of the characters, especially Violet. She annoyed me and seemed way too naive to be an FBI agent. Then there was the over explanation of every little thing.

Many times I wanted the story to move along already. It's like, ok I get it, he's sad.

See a Problem?

All-in-all, if you're looking for a good series go with John Sanford or Mo Hayder. Aug 12, karin whitehead rated it it was amazing. Dead End Girl Read this one with the lights on. I thought I had the killer pegged, boy was I wrong! I'm a big fan of mystery, horror books, and this takes the prize. Several times the author was so convincing in her descriptions that I actually found myself stretching, yes, that good! I've never read a book that did that before, and creepy me,loved it.

This author has a new fan! Jul 08, Brianna Seaton rated it it was amazing. Enthralling This book was amazing! It starts out in Violets POV but changes periodically to other people. Just enough to give you more insight on what's going on but not enough for you to lose track of who is who.

Very vivid details on the case that pulls you in from beginning to end! Psychological thriller at its best, I'd say. Jan 13, Barbie Paetzold rated it did not like it. Don't waste your time. I will never read another of these books. The author provides way too many extraneous details that have nothing to do with the storyline. The characters aren't fully developed. The main character is an FBI agent? Pretty Scooby Doo made better decisions solving crimes than Violet Darger.

Sorry but my 5th grade students write more interesting stories. Jun 02, Kristanic86 rated it it was amazing Shelves: One of the better books I have read in a long time! I loved the main character and the story itself drew me in. It was hard to put down this book at all. I can't wait for the next one! Dec 13, Barbara Nivens rated it it was amazing.
