When their encounter spawns a series of deadly events, they are bound together until it all plays out, giving them lots of opportunity to make up… Oh, the roller coaster ride that was their story! Battling an unknown threat was difficult but no more than the effort to shake off a bad, really bad, first meeting. Giovanni and Sasha battled and loved through it all, with family always at their side. The men and women in this series are hard to describe as they each are so different in who they are and what they bring to the family.

At the end of the day, though, love speaks loud and clear. With a paranormal twist, this author brings heart and hope to another thrilling romance. May 04, Kayla Brunson rated it really liked it Shelves: ARC provided by the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review. My mind was made up when I saw it was going to be about Giovanni. He ends up seeing Sasha and knowing that he found his other half when their shadows connect. Let me get this off my chest, Giovanni is a damn angel and deserves nothing but good things in his life. He was nothing but pure and I fell for this character quicker than Sasha did.

He was kind, giving in more ways than one , and would do anything for Sasha. If you thought that Stefano was crazy over the top about Francesca, then let me welcome you to Giovanni. He thought the sun rose and set on Sasha and showed her every day. He also had a huge heart. Sasha moved to Chigao to get her brother the best help she could afford. He was in a car accident and was hit by a drunk driver years ago. She worked two jobs to afford the health center where he was.

Remeber when I said that Shadow Rider had a ton of sex? Well, this book is dripping in it! The chemistry between these two was burning hot and was there from the first moment that they met. She stayed hesitant for a long time, but she was down to have wild and crazy sex with him.

When Giovanni would tell her time and time again how he was crazy about her, she would turn it to sex. Although I did like her and thought she was a good character, at times I wanted to shake her like a rag doll. All in all, I really enjoyed this one! I have my fingers crossed for Emannuelle! The devil at her heels may have finally met its match… Goodreads Review: As the third book in the Shadow Rider series, Shadow Keeper, ventures more into the lives of the Ferraro siblings, readers get an insight and more information of the shadow world, potential couples, and past events.

In Shadow Keeper we learn of the outcome of events that happened in previous book Shadow Reaper as we see Giovanni heal from his wounds while he encounters Sasha Provis, the shadow rider he was waiting for. Playing the bad boy is getting tiresome and he is slightly starting to fear that he wont find his lifemate like his brothers have. So far the shadow rider women have proven to be independent and strong female characters, and Sasha is no different.

She has her mind set on priorities and life, always finding a way to overcome any obstacle. Then, we have Taviano and Nicoletta whose relationship seems rockier than the rest of the Ferraro siblings. Shadow Keeper is the book among the series where I feel we have gotten more information on the family up until now. It shows us a different side of Giovanni and much he sacrifices for his family and his loved ones.

It also gave us a great female character daring and brave. And I especially love this series because it takes place in Chicago! May 28, Eva Millien rated it it was amazing. And to make it even more suspenseful, Giovanni must determine if he has been betrayed by one he trusted which adds to the emotional turmoil and the uncertainty facing this couple. So far, I have to say that Christine Feehan has another spectacular series going.

She makes all her worlds come alive for her readers as well as making all her wonderful characters vibrant and life like. I can always get lost in her stories and never doubt that I am going to love it, which is why I tend to read them over and over again. It took me time to really get into the story. It just felt slow at times. And as always, the love scenes with Feehan were long and I basically just skimmed them. This was a case of total insta-luv. I honestly didn't care for the hero or the heroine. He acted like an idiot see my updates and she made a boneheaded decision too.

Plus she was super forward and I like this new series by Feehan but this one was a little hard to get through. Plus she was super forward and I don't care for my heroines to be too forward. This just didn't work for me. I want to continue the series because I like the idea.

I definitely want to read Val and Emme's story. Hoping that is next. The way the incident with them was setup in the story, it makes me think they're the next book. The insta-luv story I may be able to buy with them since they've known each other for years. Jun 01, Westminster Library rated it really liked it Shelves: A twisted plot line keeps this an exciting story. The author produces more character building of the Ferraro family during their interactions throughout the book.

Quotes I liked from this book: I was attracted to her before our shadows ever connected. In the club, when she spoke for the first time something in me opened up and she just poured inside. May 29, Genre: Paranormal Romantic Suspense Rated 4. The threat against Sasha was a complete mystery with twists and turns until the end. That made for a pulse-pumping read. Although he came across as domineering and controlling, he also listened to her and gave her space to be semi-independent.

In real life, I would kick chauvinistic men like the Ferraros to the curb, but it makes for a scintillating read. Like most of her books, it has super-hot sex — and a lot of it. I love this series, as the premise though paranormal, it is different and fantastic. Shadow riders have the ability to blend themselves to the shadows wherever they are, making themselves invisible to anyone.

They have been in existence for centuries, with all members of their families trained to use those abilities. The family runs a legitimate business; they use their ability to help others in need to Shadow Keeper by Christine Feehan is the 3rd book in her fantastic Shadow series.

The family runs a legitimate business; they use their ability to help others in need to solve various problems and dispense justice. They are an extremely powerful and close-knit family that is totally loyal to one another, also protecting the people that in live in their community. Giovanni Ferraro, our hero, has an injury to his leg, which keeps him from shadow riding.

Instead, he hangs around the family owned nightclub, keeping up his appearance of being a playboy. He finds himself attracted to the new waitress, but when she overhears him and his cousins fooling around about betting on who gets a woman to seduce them, Giovanni notices her disdain and becomes belligerent; something is never does. What is it about this girl that has him enthralled? Sasha Provis, our heroine, works two jobs; during the day at the local deli, and at night at the nightclub.

She needs money to take care of her older brother, who is in a rehab after a serious accident. Sasha is filling in for someone; she has to cover the upper tier, which consists of famous and rich men. When three of them go too far, try to rip her top, it is Giovanni who will come to her rescue. He takes her to the local pizza place to unwind, and apologize for his behavior. Giovanni knows that Sasha is the one for him, and he can sense that she can do shadows, though she is not experienced in that. He was a great hero, doing everything he can to help her financially with her brother.

Shadow Keeper is also a mystery, as to who is trying to break up Giovanni and Sasha, and putting other lives in danger. This will also bring Sasha and Giovanni closer, as well as indoctrinating Sasha to the Ferraro family. This was lots of fun to watch her bond with the ladies, and begin to trust all of them. What follows is an exciting adventure, where both Sasha and Giovanni find themselves under attack, with the entire Ferraro family working hard to find the culprit.

This was also a very sensual romance, as Feehan had a lot of sex scenes between our couple. The intense pulse pounding story did remain in the forefront, but I did feel that the sex scenes a bit too many. What I love the most about this series is all the wonderful characters that Feehan has created. I love all of the Ferraros, and those they fall in love with that join the family. They are an awesome family, with amazing abilities that make this so much fun. Shadow Keeper is a captivating, exciting, suspenseful, action packed story, with a wonderful couple that steams the pages.

Tower Lord ( Raven's Shadow #2) by Anthony Ryan Audiobook Full 1/3

Okay people don't hate me, Giovanni apparently made an impression on a lot of people in book 1 and 2. This series continues to evolve, each book is about one of the brothers and family. As they leave their own brand of justice in the world it raises some thoughts on right, wrong, does the end justify the means, but that is all on the individual reader. The story itse Sasha you rock! Lists with This Book. This book is not yet featured on Listopia.

Sep 05, Vasiliki rated it it was amazing Shelves: Indeed it's a love story but so different from the usual love stories! It was quite dark and still positive and strong! The plot was good although bit slow in some parts. The writing was great! The dialogues were intense, the descriptions detailed without being boring and the sex scenes different every single time.

Both characters have lots of issues because of their childhood but they were honest and moral on their way. They didn't lie and they didn't have regrets for their choices. It was really beautiful how they cared for each other and how they show it. The only negative point was that we didn't get a bit more information about the background of the other characters in the book.

The end was great! It came the right moment in the right way! I definitely recommend this book to everyone who likes a dark erotica. View all 8 comments. I want to mention something about a review I noticed because I would hate for others to pass this up because it's not what it seems. You'll forget about it as soon as you move on, the story is much more than that. Neither Kaston or Lux had one thing to do with each other. Now the mom topic, well again, the truth That she loves her, it's her mother after all. True but what she did to her as a child? Sorry, mom or not Hell, you can't even call her a mother!

Now, Kaston he didn't have much of a mother either. Used is what he was. You'll learn about his childhood up until the age of 8. There after, he had a good life until tragedy strikes and he becomes someone else, carrying on for another. Either way, I'm coming for you. Sex with me isn't like sex with everyone else, beautiful. When I take you, I don't want ten minutes in a packed out parking lot.

I want all night. I'm enjoying the build up, and when I blow, you're going to be the one strapped to the bomb. I think I'll stick around for awhile. He definitely wanted her but didn't want to taint her. Little did he know she had been tainted since childhood. These two together were amazing! Both troubled yet complimented each other. Lux has a very strong personality, she hides everything but inside she is so damaged.

Kaston a killer but very loyal and troubled as well. He has a different mindset compared to many of my other men, he just pushed all the right buttons for me. Shadow Alpha

Let me tell you a little something about me, baby. I may look like a spoil princess, but where I come from, cops are scared to enter. This can go down one of two ways; one, you back the fuck up, let me walk away, and we forget each other exists, or two, we become a modern day Romeo and Juliet.

View all 6 comments. I can't say with that view it was the worse time I've ever lost money. I'd say I earned it. My pussy was the one on display so you could win. She starts to close her eyes until I speak. I would have won whether your pussy was present or not, but since you helped by sending him to the bathroom to take care of the hard-on you just created, I'll repay you in orgasms here in a few minutes. How does that sound? I've never been so turned on in my life.

In the Shadows

I grab her hips and pull her toward me as I roughly kiss her back. She instantly wraps her legs around my waist. I grind her against my now hardening cock. She grabs the waistband of my pants, no longer concerned with where we are. It's just now that I realize the bar is completely empty. Since I'm the manager I can do that.

No one ever complains when being sent home early at closing. No work for them and a good time for me after a long night. I nod for Danyel to come closer and look at Makayla, locking my eyes with hers. You trust me in the field, right? Just because you try something new doesn't mean you have a label. Danyel probably likes dick more than you do. I reach out and hook my index finger over Danyel's waistband, pulling her closer. I kiss her, starting things slow. I stop and turn to Makayla, doing the same. She moans into my mouth before I release her lips.

Come show her how gentle you can be. I want to watch. I can see the disappointment written all over her face, but she remains silent. Danyel touches her knee and skims her fingertips up Makayla's thigh, tracing the side of her body until her hand is on the side of Makayla's neck. Danyel lowers her face and kisses Makayla, slowly at first, but then you can tell the moment Danyel slides her tongue between Makayla's lips, because she completely lets go, and places her hands in Danyel's auburn hair, wanting more. My dick presses against my pants, wanting free, as I watch two beautiful women experiencing each other for the first time.

The room is hazed from the alcohol, but that's exactly where I need to be. I walk up to Danyel's backside, pressing my front against her. I press my lips next to her ear as they continue to kiss. It was dark, intense and too over-whelming. There was too much sex. In one day Lux had sex with her lover, who then turned out to be cheating on his wife with her.

Then she got off on Kaston in a tattoe shop while he was tattooing her and she met him maybe five minutes ago honestly, it was probably less. I didn't sign up for this. Lux is a twenty-five years old girl with a li 2 stars! Lux is a twenty-five years old girl with a list of "conquests" longer than Barney Stinson. She doesn't give a flying fuck and she screws everything that moves. Her mother is an addict and her childhood was worth a shit, but is that really a reason for her to be such a whore?

I don't like her. I judge her and her actions. But he only kills bad people and that makes it alright does it, really? I don't think so. He doesn't do commitement and he doesn't do love but once he sees Lux something shifts inside of him. I didn't see any relationship being developed. Only sex here and there and over there and again here. What bothered me the most that Lux just accepted that he killes people for money and she was okay with that. Also there was no police. Did they just disappear?

Or do they really such a bad work that they don't even notice that someone went missing? For more reviews visit: Feb 10, Karen Mc rated it it was amazing. Who would have thought getting a tattoo was going to be such an erotic experience! Do I have your attention yet?? Marked is a powerful and very dark story of survival, of finding love in the most unlikely circumstances and of life offering second chances. It's a cathartic tale of seeking justice and trying to make a world a better place. For some Lux was a victim, a forgotten and lost woman, but for me she was a survivor, she's a total badass chick!

I admire the author for writing such a poignant story, with so much content and so many twists and emotional moments because it's no easy task to deliver such a flawed result. I just love this series! This book was just as good the second time round! I daresay this is now my favourite of the lot! This is simply because the emotional connection between Alexei and Sean felt much more real than that between Kyle and Jamie's in the first 2 books, though those were hot as hell regardless. Needless to say, I had no issues with anything in the this. My ONLY issue was that it didn't go on for longer than it did!

I really do hope that we get another book from this couple since this ended in a HFN. I could literally read a books on this couple and not get tired. That's how much I loved them! Which, while we have a different couple in this than the first two, cannot be read as a standalone because the first two are needed to understand what is happening in this and what has happened with Alexei and Sean prior to this book. Overall I really liked this because it was pretty solid, Alexei and Sean had great chemistry - and hot af sex - and the plot, after a slow start for me, really picked up and got exciting and crazy and could-not-put-downable This starts months after what happened in book 2, and Alexei and Sean have seen each other around MDF headquarters and become something somewhat like friends, but because Sean still isn't technically a part of the Alpha Team, they haven't seen each other a ton. But this opens with Sean dealing with something that is a continuation of the ongoing case the Alpha Team has been dealing with since book one, and we learn even more about it all and what's going on and who is the bad guy and what not in this.

And because Sean is dealing with it, he is pulled back into being with the Alpha Team, who also gets pulled into what is going on. Alexei still has to play as if he is the COO of the fake company they had in book 2, and that brings him to have to "pretend" to be in a relationship with Sean.

That, and their close proximity for the first time in months, leads to them finally giving into temptation and sleeping together. This was different than Kyle and Jamie in that they didn't immediately fall into bed together for a one night stand - because neither Sean or Alexei are ones for one night stands.

But the slow start of setting up the rest of the book, and getting these two to that place of sleeping together, made it drag for a big, imo. Which is why I rounded down to 4 starts instead of up to 5. Also, I really enjoyed Sean and Alexei together, but they didn't quite have the same thing about Jamie and Kyle that I love. But these two, by the end of this, kind of like Kyle and Jamie, have only been seeing each other for a couple weeks, so it is a solid happy for now ending. I'm sure we'll get another book with them to get them to their HEA - or at least "I love you's" which haven't happened yet.

Sean also deals with telling his family who he is and what he's been doing because of circumstances out of his control, and he has to deal with the fall out of that. And Alexei is supportive and there for him through it. These two are adorable together, imo, and I enjoyed their scenes a lot - and will be excited to read the next book about them - because there has to be ; - although I missed Jamie and Kyle being a focus too.

I hope we get enough books to have Jamie and Kyle be the focus again too because I love them together and there is SO much story left to tell with them. Anyway, definitely a solid third installment for me. Not quite up to the greatness of the first two, I think, but still good and enjoyable. View all 4 comments. I've said it before, but it is difficult to write good sci-fi with metahumans and just not have them be so powerful they can instantly diffuse any situation.

Hailey has got the balance between having her diverse bunch of powerful people be able to neutralise threats and deal with the bad guys but still have an inherent feeling of danger which makes your heart race just a tiny bit while reading. In this one Just as brilliant as the first two - now I need book 4! In this one we step away from Jamie and Kyle to focus instead on Kyle's adoptive brother Alexei and oh lordy is he delicious.

Fiery like his pyrotechnic power, he's brusk and terse, a man of actions not words, and he doesn't like spies. Which puts rather an interesting twist on things when former CIA agent Sean Delaney's mission gets more complicated and Alexei has to get up close and perhaps a bit more personal than he'd initially liked. The two of them are gorgeous together, Sean is shy and inexperienced in spite of the times he's had to sleep with someone as part of his cover and Alexei brings out a hidden side of him which is sensual, erotic and downright sexy.

When the mission goes south, both men fight to keep the other safe with all the skills at their disposal. The action is as nail biting as in the first two books, the angst is low level and the camaraderie between the team is still great to read. When Team Alpha deploys, the bad guys know it and smoking wreckage is usually left in their wake. There has to be a book 4, I want more of this pair, more of this team and the big bad threat is still looming on the horizon. View all 3 comments. Oct 07, Nazanin rated it it was amazing. And here in the third book, we get to see it. I knew I wanted to read the next book the moment the last one finished, and I was not disappointed. The world that Turner has created is A Joyfully Jay review. The world that Turner has created is fascinating and intense, creative and layered.

Several hundred years in the future, technology is far advanced and some humans have enhanced powers thanks to the dangerous poison Splice. Extremist groups and terrorist cells want power. But not everyone in power has pure motives. Alpha Team is an elite unit of the MDF Metahuman Defense Force that works to rid the world of those extremists who are bent on hurt and destruction. So the overarching plot has been spanning all the novels, and here it takes a definite turn towards resolution. Or so I thought. Part of the plot is resolved, but more questions pop up and new bad guys are revealed.

I like that the author manages to advance the plot without it feeling like the same situation but with a new bad guy. Instead, they take care of certain problems, only to have hidden depths revealed. The bad guys are definitely bad, but there are some gray areas too. It gives the story a grounding in reality that makes it exceedingly readable for me.

Aug 21, Claire rated it really liked it Shelves: Book three in the series, or should I say Alexei's book. The one I've been waiting for, yes step aside Jamie and Kyle, Alexei has arrived! And I couldn't wait to spend time with this taciturn Russian sexpot I have a crush, get over it. There is a Quieter less frenetic feel to the beginning of In The Shadows, with a tad too much summarising at times I was all impatient and "yes, yes I know all that! Then I started to worry that maybe, just mayb Book three in the series, or should I say Alexei's book. Then I started to worry that maybe, just maybe I would stay bored Oh she of little faith that's me by the way.

Before long a mission goes wrong and things get all action-y totally a word and bang we are immersed in the metahuman universe once more. This time we not only get the MC's in action, we are treated to some of the other members of Alpha team flexing their metahuman muscles. Superpowers here, there, everywhere. As the book progresses and things 'hot' up, we see more interaction between team members during missions and snippets of their personalities are revealed through some funny banter.

My absolute favourite secondary character in Alpha team has to be Madison, who is the business, for lots of reasons. Someone whose humour I could absolutely relate to. The relationship concentrates on a different metahuman pairing this time - that of Sean and Alexei and it had a more sedate feel. By that I mean we didn't get the epic, marathon Jamie and Kyle sexy times of the previous books.

A relief for some, maybe? And this is where my enthusiasm for In The Shadows waned a little. Not so much the lack of sexy - there was enough to keep me happy. More so it was the lack of relationship development that was the disappointment for me. Ok, they have worked together in the past and have got to know each other better as teammates now. Even so I was still expecting some snark, some decent UST, at least some bickering before the wham bam, thank you, sir occurred. Nope didn't happen - all of the build up, the getting friendlier, that was all off page in the preceding six months tellling not showing was not what I wanted.

This is Alexei we're talking about, I needed specifics. I needed friction, a spark. The Alexei of previous books was more often than not grumpy and as I said before, taciturn. Those personality traits combined with self contained Sean's reticence meant that I was really looking forward to seeing them slowly get under each other's skin.

Things didn't quite happen as I expected in the relationship department, I'll get over it. But I slowly began to miss Kyle and Jamie and wished they had more page time whenever they appeared. This was meant to be Alexei and Sean burning up my Kindle. I sadly put my fire extinguisher away and decided to enjoy the other kind of action instead. Thinking about it overnight I came to a couple of conclusions; firstly that this is a series and there is plenty of scope for romantic development as the series continues as happened with Jamie and Kyle.

Secondly, that at some point the author has to make a decision about what to include, what to "show" and what to "tell. The plot is overarching with no sign of it being over quickly so maybe to keep up the momentum, to stop us forgetting things, some aspects needed to be sacrificed or pared back. For instance I could have done without Sean's family, selfish arseholes! Although we did get an exceptional car chase out of that little drama. Very exciting, edge of your seat stuff that was too.

In the end I have to reconcile my expectations with the fact that realistically the author couldn't do it all. Not without this book being many pages longer than it is. Therefore, I must be satisfied with the reality of that. I still love Alexei and Sean as characters, I'm not invested in them as a couple As with the previous books in the series there is a lot going on and for that reason I wouldn't recommend reading this as a standalone. The author does summarise aspects of the plot. However, if you jump in here you'll get an idea about what's going on but will miss out on the finer details.

Expectation-wise was In The Shadows worth the wait? I thought the action sequences and Alpha team were a definite, burn baby burn, five stars. The humour, sense of family and world building from the previous books were all present and once again deserve five stars. Alexei and Sean on the other hand were more like three star sparklers, nice while they lasted but not enough substance to hold my attention. All things considered I think I love Jamie and Kyle more.

That's ok with me this is still a really great series and another enjoyable, action packed book. I like to think Hayley Turner is a metahuman with fast writing as her superpower. So until next time - which hopefully won't be long for greedy mares like myself I'm off to find fixate on Captain Matthew Gailani. I plan to give him my totally irresistible come to mama eyes.

I wonder if he likes gin Totally not sorry about my bad puns. View all 9 comments. Sep 09, Michaelene rated it it was amazing Shelves: This series keeps getting better and better. Buckle in and enjoy this divine book. Sean is used to flying solo. The mission keeps getting more and more dangerous with more and more players. That, and his new mission requires he works up close and personal with the blunt Alexei. I think of him as my Russian Tootsie-Pop. Good luck not falling head over heels for him. I think I just loved that he seemed so real.

Loyal to a fault, you always know where you stand with him. Sean, on the other hand, is used to secrets and lies. Finding a real connection in all of that is tough work. This book takes a slow-burn and slow-awareness to a whole new level. You never know when these two are going to drop in a little nugget that will have you cackling.

This world of Ms. There's whipcord wit thrown in with pulse-pounding action. It's ingeniously built into this multi-dimensional world. Mix that in with an organic romantic connection, and I was engaged, flipping pages breathlessly because I could not look away. I voluntarily reviewed an arc via the author in exchange for an honest review.

Although he comes across as gruff and brash at first contact, Alexei is actually a very sweet and caring man. However, as we learnt in the last book he does not like spies so when Sean was tasked as joining the Alpha Team he was obviously unhappy with this decision.

Sean's work as a CIA agent has left him living a solitary life as he's unable to open up to anyone around him, including his family. This book begins a couple of months afte Alexei, Kyle's brother, is a pyrokinetic on the Alpha Team. This book begins a couple of months after the last book, and the two have seen each other around MDF headquarters sometimes sharing lunch which has led to Alexei's thoughts of Sean softening somewhat. This book continues dealing with the ongoing case from earlier in the series.

It dives right into the action in which Sean is undercover meeting with a couple, before everything goes wrong. I did feel slightly lost when I first started this due to it being in the midst of a case but that's probably because it has been a good few months since I finished book 2. Also, I feel like the book begins with a lot of info-dumping so i'll admit I was slightly bored and found myself skimming some parts throughout the first half of the book.

Sean believes that Alexei won't want him because of his work, while Alexei just fears that Sean doesn't feel an attraction towards him. I will admit that the development of the relationship is rather non-existant, it all seems to happen rather quickly but that was also the case in the earlier books so it's clearly not something that bothers me. As soon as they're together they are all in, especially Alexei he turns into such a mother hen towards Sean.

I wasn't sure at first but I really did like them together, not quite as much as Jamie and Kyle, but still I thought they worked wonderfully together. At the end of this book their relationship is only a couple of weeks old so it does end on a HFN, same as book 1 did, but i'm sure that'll change into a HEA over the next couple of books. I'm excited for the next one so I can see where the relationship and the case goes but I also feel like i'd really like to get back to Jamie and Kyle soon. We pick up a few months after the events of the last book, with Alexei and Sean as our MCs this time around. I loved them both! The one thing that makes this a 4-star rather than a 5-star is that I thought the writing wasn't as tight as it could've been. In quite a few places, I found my mind wandering and had to go back and re-read several paragraphs.

I thought things were a little too overly descriptive, and it pulled me right ou This book starts off with a bang and just gets funner and funner! I thought things were a little too overly descriptive, and it pulled me right out of the story. There were also instances where I got lost in the narrative, especially during action scenes where the story got bogged down in narrative and description. However, that being said, I still loved this book.
