The apartment is well equipped with a king size, a queen size and twin beds in three separate rooms, each with its large bathroom. There is a dishwasher, washer and dryer. The kitchen is a little small for people like us who cooked every dinner. Counter space is minimal but this is how houses were built at the time. We had some trouble with the electrical outlets and never figured out how to make coffee and toasts at the same time, but this is a very minor issue.
A microwave would be helpful but I don't know where they could place it. The heating system is a little complicated and Debora had to come and arrange it to ensure we were comfortable. Overall, we spent a fantastic two weeks and we would go back to this apartment without hesitation. Christina Galliano Date of stay: July We loved Angelo Custode - Ground! There were five of us and there was enough room to have time alone. All of the bedrooms were large and beautifully appointed. The kitchen has everything one could need as we cooked most days.
Deborah greeted us and showed us the apartment.
Duccio was most gracious, bringing jam and wine and pasta for us. During our stay, the washing machine was replaced - no inconvenience for us - but Duccio brought over a bottle of wine nonetheless. The apartment is spotless! The location is absolutely perfect! We walked all over Lucca, exploring and living like a "local". We booked a walking tour with Deborah's colleague, Maria. We've stayed in Lucca before, but learned so much from the tour. We also did a wine tasting at Enoteca Vanni - so much fun and informative. We even had massages in the apartment by another colleague of Deborah's.
Her name is Marta and she is amazing! The day before we left, Duccio offered to take us and our luggage to the train station very close but still a bit of a hike with luggage.
We will definitely stay at Angelo Custode again. It felt like home! David Date of stay: May This is the second time we have stayed at Angelo Custode - this time 11 of our friends also stayed in the ground floor, first and third level apartments. They were all delighted with the facilities and whilst there are some quirky arrangements with access to the laundry on the first level all the rooms are spacious and very well appointed.
The third level is quite a few steps up but the views are absolutely fabulous and the rooms also very spacious. All in all we had a wonderful stay because we were able to delight in the offerings of Lucca as well as cook our own meals if we wanted too. Duccio was as always very helpful and assisted us with our luggage to and from as well as dropping people at Train Stations etc I rated this accommodation the best value for money on our entire trip.

Debora's services were valuable and the information she provided about Lucca and things to do was a great help. My friends and I would certainly stay here again! Elizabeth called Debora the rental agent Debora met us at the hospital. We don't know what we would have done without her. We do not speak Italian and very few spoke English.
Later Duccio, the owner of the apartment came to the hospital. I was there for five days. They both came twice a day. I was taken by ambulance to the apartment where we stayed for eight days. I was confined in bed. I had a view of the church. I fell in love with the paintings in my room by Duccio's grandfather. The apartment was beautiful and I plan on returning some day. If you stay and have any problems, you couldn't be in better hands.
