You think you know him. His books have sold hundreds of thousands of copies in Australia. He's been the subject of an internationally successful film. His one-man shows have toured Australia to sell-out crowds. He's the most recognisable criminal brand name in Australia. But the truth is From a young teen, peering from behind a bush at an unknown Mongol, Scott fulfills his childhood dreams.

In later years, after many experiences, he becomes one of the most respected and feared Mongols to this day. Hold on tight and go on this unbelievable journey. See what it takes to get to the top in the biker world: Really enjoyed the book. Some of the voices used for different people make me chuckle, but that's neither here nor there. It's a great book, well written. My husband ended up tuning in with me and he now has his own account for audio books haha!

The author glamorized the Mongols in such a way that you would think they were just a bunch of misrepresented motorcycle loving enthusiasts. The book is well written to where the author actually has you thinking and feeling sorry for him in certain chapters, wrong place wrong time type of scenario. The narrator is easy to listen to but the character voices he puts on to represent certain people in the book are a little silly and not required in my opinion. All in all well worth the read and looking forward to the next installment in Juniors life.

I generally like it when the author has input into the narration and this is all him!

The Unknown Mongol

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? I would absolutely recommend the book to a friend, but a print copy. The audiobook narration has me cursing like an outlaw biker as I listen to the many muppet-sounding voices used for the characters. What was one of the most memorable moments of The Unknown Mongol? Good coverage of prospecting. Don't want to give anything away. How did the narrator detract from the book? He should have just read the book without interjecting the extremely distracting voices that sound more like muppets than outlaw bikers.

This surely must be nearly the most worthless performance I have ever heard in an audiobook. It is a constant distraction.

If you could give The Unknown Mongol a new subtitle, what would it be? If you've ever wanted to hear the Fraggles play the part of motorcycle gang outlaws, this is your audiobook! Please get a new narrator to re-record this book. Scott Junior Erickson provided a very honest, and informative, view of the Mongols MC as it grew to international outreach during the '80s and '90s. Reference is made to many names well known to followers of the "biker genre", though throughout the book, when referring to club members, Junior was careful to use only road names and, in other cases, changed those.

Where does Junior's tenure fit in? With Junior's incarceration in , the story comes all too quickly to an end. I would really like to have heard Junior's take on both of those incidents. And, if my math is right and assuming Junior served out all 14 years of his sentence, he should be free and must certainly have some thoughts on where the club has been going through in the last 15 years. I would welcome his insight and I hope that there will be further volume forthcoming.

The only complaint I have is a minor one. The narrator does a great job with many of the voices, but Junior's voice is that of an extremely young man, not one old before his years, heavy with a lifetime's worth of experience. To me the narrative would've better served the narrative with a little older, tougher interpretive voice. Through out the book, Junior is intelligent, articulate and brutally honest, not sugar coating his own or his club's indiscretions and brushes with the law.

Junior is a man fighting to adhere to a strict code of personal pride, loyalty and devotion club and brothers. An excellent addition to the genre and a book I would happily recommend to anyone seeking an insider's view of a world closed off to most citizens. Both were criminals but geniuses. Imagine what they could have done if they both put their efforts to good use. Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

If Outlaw biker gangs are brought up in a conversation, I would. Otherwise it's not one I would just tell anyone about. How does this one compare? I really enjoyed his narrations for Stress Patterns and Interstate Dreams. Some folks in the reviews before me commented about how he made the Outlaws and in particular, Junior sound young and immature. I suggest you check out interviews with Junior on youtube. Junior really sounds like that. Not like the gravel macho voice you would expect from a man that looks the very image of an dangerous outlaw biker. This book spends a lot of time on minor events and glancing over the major ones.

I don't know if Junior simply didn't want to share more, couldn't remember more because of drugs or club loyalty. What did you like best about The Unknown Mongol? What did you like least? The narration was pretty good, he reminded me of Wil Wheaton. It was entertaining, certainly not a book you needed to think hard about.

After reading this book and searching the news, there is obviously alot of detail that has been left out. Nothing that is shocking as to what experiences Junior had throughout his life but enjoyable to see how it all played out. I found myself emotionally invested in certain parts so it obviously got my attention. I think I finished the book in 3 sittings. I don't recall ever thinking to myself "come on, move along with the story" so the pace and content was excellent throughout.

Narration was great although the voices used for other characters in the book were distracting; So off the wall to the point that I was paying more attention to them than the words they were saying. Most biker books spend time trying to tell you how tough they are, how they kicked ass, and how they are always number one. This book took a much more personal journey. Yes this books has sex drugs and violence, but that is not the driving point page after page.

People make chooses for all sorts of reasons. I'm not here to judge Scott Junior Ereckson for his crimes, but he is the kind of straight up dude you would want as a brother and a friend. I will pass the book on for those who wonder what its like being on the inside of such an organization. How Scott tries to deal with home life VS club lie. Which scene was your favorite? He showed real emotion and how much it means to earn your colors. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you? The reader was good but maybe not the best choice for this book.

Could have used a bit deeper voice with a little grit. I would rate it has a fair read I definitely wouldn't recommend the bookalthough if this is your first story about the Mongols I guess it's OK. Good read and i feel as tho he was very honest about his life n. Would you consider the audio edition of The Unknown Mongol to be better than the print version?

I don't know as I never read the print version. The things the prospects had to do.

The unknown Mongol by Scott "Junior" Ereckson

How could the performance have been better? The narrator kept putting on stupid voices when trying to do a womans voice and the main voice sounded like they were 15 years old. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? Very entertaining book but there was a lot of the story left out, no mention of crime or how the mongols got there money. After reading a number of reviews and having a strong interest in true crime I was expecting an interesting and insightful view into the life of biker gangs. But what this book provides is a boring, bloated and poorly written self indulgent account, that fails to either entertain or inform.

I'm new to the audio book scene. I thought I'd try it as I was sick of listening to radio all day at work and I loved this book so much I'm already onto next one. A well written and well read insight. Only problem is the spoken dialogue between the narration is at about half the volume, making it hard to listen to at times. Often having to be either too loud or too quiet. Good true story after finishing it the first time I listened to it again Better than expected, good engaging story, well written and good performances by the 'cast'.

Definitely recommend this one. If you are interested in the history of one of the most notorious MC's in California history, this is an excellent choice. I fully enjoyed this book and the entertaining narration. Jeff Hays did an excellent job bringing the characters and story to life. Oct 10, Russell Quinton rated it it was amazing. The inner circle stuff could not be disclosed to keep from violating club rules. It's about one man but with the exception of club leadership could just about describe any clubs memberships lives. Been there done that just not with a club as well known as the Mongols.

I recommend this book as a good Overview of the outlaw biker life. I have read virtually every book on outlaw motorcycle clubs that has been written, both fiction and non-fiction. I'm glad he did, because this is one of my top two or three all-time favorites in the genre. I read the whole thing in one night because once I got started, I was hooked. When you order it from Junior's website, it comes autographed by him. That was a pleasant surprise, and is the exact same thin I have read virtually every book on outlaw motorcycle clubs that has been written, both fiction and non-fiction.

That was a pleasant surprise, and is the exact same thing I do from my own website. Keep up the good work Junior Jun 12, Cherye Elliott rated it it was amazing. Hmmmm Really enjoyed the read. But it stopped and I see no future books. Basically nothing except some pix and law enforcement stories.

That explains the title of the book. Hey big boy, get out of hiding and tell us what is the rest of the story? What happened to April? Too old and too fat to try out this lifestyle, so I will have to live vicariously through what I read. Apr 13, Vojtech rated it liked it. I picked this up after reading Under and Alone which I recommend highly.

Only in this book the narrator is an actual mongol and one that raised from the ranks up to the position of national president at that. While the stories were interesting, I couldn't help but feel sorry for this man. Spending most of your adult life in prison probably isn't worth the fleeting feeling of brotherhood between drugged out outlaw bikers. Feb 22, Monique Lovato rated it it was amazing. The book was written so well. I chose this reading because I personally know Junior. He is a honest kind hearted well respected man. Not great writing, but its a career thug not a English professor.

I really enjoyed the rough edges of his writing, like someone telling you a story. Very interesting look into the thought process that brings someone into the arms of like life lead by many. Jun 17, Tom mosedale rated it it was amazing. Excellent Brilliant book that I could not put down, a real page turner and great insight into motorcycle gangs and their activities.

Seemed believable and credible. Quick read and engaging story. May 10, Clint rated it it was amazing. I do recommend it. Jan 10, daniel elkins rated it it was amazing. Great book Very well written and inciting. This book was a very easy read. Kept me interested wanting to read more and before I knew it I was done. This was a great read, writing was ok , not bad for a non writer. The story itself was intriguing and kept me wanting to read more. Aug 10, Ty Vogel rated it liked it. Good book Good book, know he left a lot out. Kind of disappointed by that.

But over all, damn good book. Aug 19, Jen Garett added it. Could not put this book down. Draws you right in.

Jul 01, Smiley rated it it was ok. It was Ok I'm not sure why I couldn't get into the book. I normally like reading about what goes on inside their heads. This book seemed a little bit slow for me. Well written and very gripping once he gets into his start in the life. Ramon rated it really liked it Jun 04, Lori Spier rated it liked it Mar 17,
