Despite the energy punk-like? An understated power and groove a la Tony Williams. I think Homme has always made a concerted effort to separate them from Black Sabbath. He has tried to create the band as something unique and individual.
Maybe it is true and I think it just might be. It makes the music they created that much more special. Kudos to you sir, for not once mentioning Black Sabbath in this piece other than they were second in the canon after BS.
That is a true rarity when reading about Kyuss. On a side note, I now have a playlist on my iPod named Canon of Heavy.
