One who marries for love alone will have bad days but good nights. One who loves the vase, loves also what is inside. Do not treat your loved one like a swinging door: Love, like rain, does not choose the grass on which it falls. Even as the archer loves the arrow that flies, so too he loves the bow that remains constant in his hands. Love is a painkiller.

Members and volunteers are invited to our monthly meetings. Visitors are welcome to come and learn more about the great work the society is doing in Africa.

To Africa…With Love

Meetings begin at 7: We are a humanitarian non-profit organization based out of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. We welcome people from around the world to join us and be part of our journey as together we can bring hope to a small corner of the African continent. These issues are critical to the long term development and stability of both Tanzania and Africa in general and we feel it is in these areas that we can most effectively make a difference.

The society has since grown to over 50 members and continues to attract new members every year. Society members travel to Tanzania to work side by side with the African community members who are equal participants in each project.

Why I Love Africa

For those interested in traveling with us in an upcoming project, membership and participation with committee work is expected. Society members have the opportunity to share in the work of the society and its vision by assisting with fundraising, being an advocate for its work, and taking an active role in decision making. Members also have the opportunity to volunteer to travel to Tanzania to work with the local communities to fulfill their dreams of a brighter future.

Board members bring a range of experience and expertise to our work and all donate their time to the society. I had previously travelled to Tanzania as a tourist.

I was moved by the generous spirit of the people and it made me want to give back in a meaningful way. I came to the For the Love of Africa Society after reading a news article on them.

I appreciated their mandate and their ideals. As President of the Board, I intend to help guide the Society in implementing its objectives for improving the quality of life for Tanzanians by developing educational and health care facilities.

I travelled to Tanzania in October after joining the Society earlier that year. I wanted to find a way to give back after retiring and volunteering to help others less fortunate seemed the opportune way to do that. The thing I remember most about the trip to Africa was working with the people.

They are most appreciative, friendly, and caring people I have every met. It made me realize how fortunate we are in Canada, and how much we complain about the smallest of things here. I joined the Society because all the money raised goes directly to the projects and people in Tanzania. I retired from my entrepreneurial career in and was looking for opportunities to volunteer with a non-profit organization in Victoria. My decision to join For the Love of Africa Society resulted, in part, from meeting a University of Manitoba friend who returned to Tanzania after attending University.
