I understand that some of Mr. Sheldon's book doesn't have a happy ending, but a character , an important one albeit, has none? Apr 01, Janani Gopal rated it it was ok.

A big disappointment in the name of Sheldon. Luckily, Tilly continued his work.

But she has done a very good job. After the first quarter of the book, the ending was very predictable. We could easily guess the Culprits. But the book was still a page turner. The plot is astounding. The ending left me a bit confused. He leaves a lot to the imagination of the reader. Even though the story was very engaging, it had many plot holes and many questions are unanswered. So I gave it 3 stars. Nov 03, Bobbie Grob rated it it was ok. I have a problem with an author trying to write like a deceased author, and then marketing the book under both their names.
That seems cheap to me. I didn't realize that was what had happened here til after I read the book. I figured that perhaps old manuscripts had been found posthumously and were then polished and printed, but that is not the case. So, I am irritated by this book. The story, however, was a good one that I enjoyed very much. If Tilly Bagshawe had just published it herself, I'd g I have a problem with an author trying to write like a deceased author, and then marketing the book under both their names. If Tilly Bagshawe had just published it herself, I'd give it 4 stars and go out and get another of hers.
But, I am irritated. May 19, Renn Shearin rated it it was ok. Andrew Jakes, an elderly multimillionaire art dealer, had been brutally murdered in his Hollywood home, his lifeless body tied to his naked young wife. Raped and beaten, the lovely Angela Jakes had barely survived the attack herself. Gazing into her deep, soulful eyes, Danny swore that he'd find the psychopath behind this barbarous act.
But the investigation didn't It was his first big murder case—and one of the bloodiest and most violent crimes LAPD detective Danny McGuire would ever encounter. But the investigation didn't turn up a single solid lead, and within days of Angela's release from the hospital, the stunning young widow—Danny's only witness—had vanished.
For ten years Danny McGuire could not forget the sweet face of Angela Jakes and the terrible crime that had shattered her life; his obsession with her nearly cost him his sanity. Now in France, thousands of miles from the past—with a new life, a new job with Interpol, and a ravishing new wife—he's happier than he's ever been. Curious about his father's murder, Matt has been digging into the cold case—and made some shocking discoveries.
Three killings nearly identical to his father's have taken place across the globe. The victims were elderly, newlywed millionaires, their young wives assaulted. And in each case the widow, the sole beneficiary of the will, donated her newfound wealth to children's charities and then vanished. Could it be true?
Had the Jakes killer struck again? If so, Danny knows he must tread carefully or risk losing everything for good. The evidence points to a single killer—a brilliant and ruthless criminal who travels across the globe under a string of assumed identities, cleverly keeping one step ahead of the law. Joining forces, Danny and Matt pursue this intriguing shadow from Los Angeles to London, New York to Italy and the French Riviera, in a tantalizing game of cat and mouse filled with promising leads and frustrating dead ends.
When another murder fitting the profile occurs, Matt heads to Hong Kong, hoping to get answers from the latest widow, Lisa Baring, and perhaps uncover the hard evidence they need. But Matt becomes besotted with the irresistible beauty, nearly derailing the investigation, and Danny wonders whether Lisa is truly a victim or something more sinister. When a break in the case sends Danny to Mumbai, he knows he must act quickly, for the clever killer is poised to strike again. Sidney Sheldon's Angel of the Dark is a twisted, mysterious and altogether contagious novel.
I was hooked the moment I picked it up even as I waded through the lies, violence, and graphic murders. The plot line was excellently developed. The author left the reader as completely in the dark as the main characters as the book progressed. There were several unexpected twists in the novel. The ending was completely surprising and made me sit back and simply say "WOW! The characters, especially the Angel of the Dark, were extremely well developed.
The Angel was such a mystery. Her characteristics were surprising and her gall unbelievable. Matt Daley was love besotted to the nth degree, and I could only pity him. I was glad that Danny, the only light of reason in the entire book, was part of the novel, for he was the only normal person in the novel at times. Overall, I enjoyed the novel, but it did leave me with an weird taste in my mouth and the pure evil and darkness that resides and is acted upon in some people.
I would only recommend it to readers who enjoy a good mystery yet are not put off by violence and graphic murders. Jun 26, Iqra V rated it did not like it. Unlike the original Sheldon books where every page is filled with excitement with an extra serving of thrill.
And the readers aren't left scratching their heads but blissfully satisfied with his books So many loose ends and loop holes that it feels like you are banging your head just trying to make sense of the ending. Was it really Sofia who was the mastermind behind the kill Very disappointing indeed! Was it really Sofia who was the mastermind behind the killings like Frankie claimed in the courtroom? Why wasn't Frankie given a chance to speak his side of the story?
Was the violence a turn on for him? What was her motive? Was it Matt, out of sheer jealousy? Sofia, who is supposed to be the "angel of death" is potrayed from the beginning till the unraveling of the mystery as a hypnotizing ravishing goddess that is every freaking man's dream yet this helpless, naive, lost victim of a psycho? How is she the angel of death then when she is not shown to be guilty of even one murder, not even of Carlos'? Having resided in Mumbai, there were so many geographical mistakes there. Like a local street was named "Marathi" which is the local language and no such place exists o.
O Ok seriously, I could have just looked past the huge loopholes that other reviewers have pointed if only Tilly Bagshawe could have told us who manipulated whom? Or whether Sophia was really mentally sick or just a smart psycho since she pulled up such an intelligent stunt in the end that would have gladly earned her the title of angel of the dark or death or whatever. She seems like a prop till the end who lives happily ever after. Dec 18, Nicole rated it really liked it.
Sidney Sheldon's Angel of the Dark 2. Danny McGuire, a Los Angeles detective, was called to a scene with a millionaire harshly killed and his wife raped. The person who committed the crime couldn't be found. Several years later, multiple cases very similar to this one was occurring all over the world. One of the victim's sons, Matt Daley, and Danny McGuire make it a mission to solve this case and find whoever committed these crimes along with what happened to all the wives who 1. One of the victim's sons, Matt Daley, and Danny McGuire make it a mission to solve this case and find whoever committed these crimes along with what happened to all the wives who mysteriously disappeared after their rape and their husbands death.
Two things kept appearing throughout the entire book. Betrayal and manipulation are two motifs in this novel. Toward the end of the story, Matt Daley married a girl named Claire. She got pregnant, yet Matt left her to run off with his lover he met while trying to search for the suspect in these crimes. You have to admit it's a romantic house. Just think how happy we'd be there! Matt was unfaithful and disloyal to his wife Claire.
The second motif seen was manipulation. She would never have cheated on Miles. She just isn't that sort of person," Matt tried to convince Danny on page Danny responded on page , "I meant, using you for information. You know as much about these murders as the police, if not more. If Lisa's boyfriend was behind them She would marry one guy and then help kill him. Next, she would get surgery change her appearance and then learn a new language so she could "fall in love" with another millionaire and then kill him.
This book would appeal to a broad audience. I think any teenager or adult who likes even a little bit of adventure, action, or mystery would enjoy this book. It was very entertaining. At times it was predictable, but at other times I didn't want to put it down. Oct 13, Himel Rahman rated it liked it. Couldn't surprise me as I knew almost everything.

Jan 09, Susan Johnson rated it really liked it. It could of ended perfectly, but nooooo, take it a little farther. I actually gave it four stars for the ending. I felt it was a little draggy at the beginning. It was a good book, but the ending!!! Sep 29, Zreina rated it liked it. Sidney Sheldon's Angel of the Dark. When I first saw this book, I was like, What??
But I thought Sidney was gone..? And as I looked closely, there was another name, Tilly Bagshawe. Sorry Sidney Sheldon Fans, but this isn't his writing here. First of all, the cover. Yes, the name Sidney Sheldon got me, and the way the title goes Angel of the Dark. I immediately grabbed the book and read the text at the back, not Sidney Sheldon's Angel of the Dark. I immediately grabbed the book and read the text at the back, not knowing that the whole story is already embedded in the description.
Angel Of The Dark: Sidney Sheldon and Tilly Bagshawe
The execution was good, if not, better. I like sub-story plots, but the one in India? Oh, the thrilling plot. I liked the plot, but never loved it. The continuous killings were already expected, with the murderer hopping from the next victim to the other. But, as the air-headed girl I was, I never did, even once, think about whatever or suspected anyone who might did the criminal and vicious acts. I just agreed with everything and just read what is about to happen. There were major, as in major , plot holes in the story.
I had already expected them to tell me what happened to the previous problems and cases, like the missing paintings and why money to charities "if-I-can-easily-grasp-it-in-the-palm-of-my-hand-as-the-wives-of-all-the-rich-millionaires? That really disappointed me. I saw many people complain about the Hong Kong public transport, and I can agree that this "little" mistake can go a long way pun not intended. It's already public transportation, how could Bagshawe get this wrong? The characters were good, I liked them.
It's what their actions anger me. How in the world could Matt leave his pregnant, yes, pregnant , wife to a woman who has a bloody plastic face!? I loathed the ending. It looks like it should be a happy ending for me and for the both of them, but it's not, like, even possible in my right mind. It's just like a twisted world where everything looks like it should be right, but will never be. In the story, things have gotten to the point where it revolves around manipulation and beauty.
It seems that every man falls for only one human, being that the woman is Lisa Baring, and I find that I do not know why or how these men came to love Lisa, but the most likely reason is because of her plastic beauty and her "hypnotic-to-me' eyes. And I will leave my bitcoin recommended by good mythical morning, replacement for "2 cents" there. Overall, I believe she could pull this book off even without the 'Sidney Sheldon' part. It feels like she's looking for her fame within the depths of Sidney Sheldon's fame.
And I think that's wrong. Either way, the plot was there, and it satisfied me. But what makes the story so great is its ending.

Them making me accept the ending and, me, spitting it out and leaves me a terrible feeling altogether. It should be 2. The ending gives away 2 stars, and the use of Sidney Sheldon's name is a weak move, and not the best one. It gives false hopes to some readers who think this is Sheldon's book. The plot, liked it, but the ending destroyed it. Not completely, but partially. I think I would recommend it to people because of the thrilling plot, but not because of the surprising ending.

In a fast-paced story, full of mystery, glamour, excitement, and spectacular twists that build to a stunning climax, Sidney Sheldon's Angel of the Dark is quintessential Sidney Sheldon from the first page to the last.
To be honest, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this book. It was certainly quite good - I just wasn't expecting the plot to be as convoluted or as intricate as it turned out. For me, solving this mystery took much more concentration than some other mysteries that I've read recently.
Ever since Sidney Sheldon passed away in , Tilly Bagshawe has taken up his mantle so the legacy continues. I absolutely loved Sidney Sheldon as an author, but I have to say that this book was slightly disappointing for me to read. I just wasn't expecting to work so hard to solve such an intricate mystery.
Aug 30, Cynthia Fountain rated it liked it. I liked it at first but toward the end I found many unanswered questions. I found it a bit tedious at times and not a book I would read again. Apr 06, TheGeekyBlogger rated it it was ok. Received for Review Overall Rating: I am a total "ender" aka the end of the book can make me look at the whole book differently. I think that should be noted and I want to be fair. Can we rewind a few chapters and just end there, please? The story had you on your toes and even though you could guess who all was involved--the art of the police figuring it out was brilliantly done.
I really enjoyed and pretty much devoured the story in an afternoon--it pulled me in that much! The characters were complex and added to the story. In thrillers, I don't need to connect to them in order for a story to work for me and that was what happened in this case. I "liked" most of the characters good and bad and they were well written. The personal side of the story added to the case. What made me go huh?: I didn't like the end at all. I can't be more specific don't want to give stuff away BUT it kind of ruined the story for me.
Luckily, this happened after everything was figured out so it did not ruin the thriller part for me. I imagine this story will work better for other people better than it did for me. Sep 20, Elena rated it it was ok Shelves: It was a quick and captivating read but with a crappy ending! I don't understand how a random chick gets to write under the legendary name of Sydney Sheldon?! She is nowhere good enough to be doing that and I find that it misleads the readers hugely!
While a good idea, the mystery was somewhat obvious from the start view spoiler [ the wives were all the same person and in on the murders! I didn't quite understand how Matt view spoiler [could fall in love with a killer and defend her 'till the very end Even going so far as to dump his pregnant wife and run after the murderess?!!? Soooo this is exactly the SAME thing that Matt does at the end of the book - he leaves his wife and kid to be with the killer! Does that mean she will have him killed , too?!?!
PLUS - what kind of a moron is he to actually be in love with a killer?!?! And I ended up hating Matt, more than the killer! Seemed that I had exhausted all he had to offer, and with no new titles coming up, I moved on to other authors. Tilly has done justice to Sheldon's story, to a certain extent. As written below, by many other readers, that there is not much of a suspense left after a few chapters, and you can kind of guess who the culprits are, but it still intrigues you, as to why they are doing so, and how will they be caught, or i Truely an Angel of the Dark The last Sydney Sheldon I read was almost 6 years ago.
As written below, by many other readers, that there is not much of a suspense left after a few chapters, and you can kind of guess who the culprits are, but it still intrigues you, as to why they are doing so, and how will they be caught, or if the crimes will ever be proved or not. My heart goes out to the character - Matt Daley, who in my opinion gets the worst deal of the lot, while the Angel soars high. It is a bit irritating though, the way every male character seems to be smitten by the Angel and her good looks and naiveness, even when the truth is evident.
The end is quite predictable, except off course the last page. That leaves you wondering for a while. Has justice truly been served????? It is not a great work of literature like Doyle or Dickens, if you are expecting so , but a typical Sydney novel, some satisfy you, some leave you in doubt, and some leave you wanting more.
I'd recommend it for train journey. It was awesome and I found many good reads there Ha! This was one of them. I have read about four Sidney Sheldon's books and I found them interesting. This one, despite its title, is not fully written by Sidney Sheldon.

Its author is Tilly Bagshawe. She built this story on some unpublished work of Sidney Sheldon. Frances Mancini proved to be one. That is when the first victim, Andrew Jakes, was murdered. Charming and unsuspecting, he was very easy for her to read, as was every other man in her life. She realized that in spite of all the evidence pointing towards her being, if not the main perpetrator, but at least a part of the murder, Danny chose to override his first instinct and trust Angela Wife no.
This encouraged the psychopath in her to conspire and plan with Frances for further escapades, motives being either monetary or purely the adrenaline rush that accompanied the murders. The blood lust, primarily, was hers, but she let Frances play it out. When Matt Daley estranged son of Andrew Jakes and a writer who wanted to make a documentary on the killing came into picture and her life, Sofia came to know that she and Frances were drawing way too much attention to themselves. This was going big. By the time she met Matt as Lisa, they had already gotten away with at least 3 known murders.
She knew it was only a matter of time before there would be a lot more people on their case. It would, then, be difficult to get away with these proceedings as easily. She figured out a plan to use her last heist as a way of disappearing off the face of the earth. With exorbitant planning, she let Danny, Matt and David Ishag the unsuspecting supposed last victim who had been pulled in the loop by Danny catch up with her. The hushed murder of Frances followed, the motive being revenge for his abuse on her dormant side all these years.
After this was done, she met up with Matt, the one man left who was ready to go any lengths to protect her or vouch for her. Carlos, unfortunately, had to be killed by her in the process, seeing as he was the only one apart from Matt who knew about her being alive and her whereabouts. All she wanted, after killing Carlos, was a fleeting moment of happiness with Matt. But, Matt did the inexcusable.
He made the mistake of leaving his wife and unborn child, becoming another one of the men Sofia loathed. In the end, I like to think Sofia Basta got her happy ending. She was in the story she had always wished to be in. This was literally the most stupid analysis of the book ive read so far. Makes it look like youve not even read the book properly, lol.
