As he starts heading towards Jennifer, she hears him coming and freaks out. Nightmares from the dark incident in her past, make her panic and she starts running.
John starts running after her and they both fall into sinkhole of sorts in the forest floor. Mining used to occur here, and they have fallen into a large, and very dark cavern. Now these two strangers are stuck together for who knows how long. Being way off the path, they have no idea how long it will be until someone will find them. Jennifer is terrified of the dark and John, living in darkness himself, helps her cope as they come to know one another.
Bound to You pairs two strangers together that get down and dirty fast. I think their coupling may have been rushed a bit, but when you are stuck in a deep, dark hole, what else is there to do? And what unfolds is very, very dirty sex. John may be blind, but damn does he know how to have sex with a woman. I think because John is blind and he relies so much on his senses, the author makes the sex scenes, when it is in his point of view, that much more descriptive.

Bethany Kane eventually tells you what happened to Jennifer to make her this scared, and it really is gruesome. We needed a strong reason for Jennifer to cling to Jonathan, a stranger in a dark hole, and to seek comfort. And the reason Bethany Kane gives is a pretty good one.
