Retrieved May 27, A small town's doctor takes matters into his own hands after a series of gruesome and bizarre rape crimes perplex the clueless authorities. The monstrous offspring of a violent crime grows up in seclusion on a remote island, where a boat-full of hapless teens have shipwrecked, unaware of what's lurking in the woods. An orphaned teenager finds himself being dominated by his aunt who's hell-bent on keeping him with her Amanda's deathbed request to her son, John, was for him to destroy all the lab notes etc.
She also blurts out he had a brother. At the funeral John meets Melissa, who claims to be his mothers biggest fan. Together with some of John's friends they go to Amanda's house, but none are prepared for what they find there. Dying woman Kim Hunter tells her son David Allen Brooks to destroy all of her lab work and that he also had a brother. Brooks takes some of his friends, plus a mysterious woman Amanda Pays that claims to be a big fan of his mother's work, to mom's house.
There they fall victim to a monster that his mom accidently created and that Rod Steiger is trying to capture for research. Scary film with an intense opening sequence and a good cast, especially Steiger and Pays. It also features some good nasty gross out special effects, especially the watermelon scene and the finale.
