My epic poem, The Parliament of Poets, has just been published, and much of the background study for it took place throughout the writing of The Grove of the Eumenides, so I hope readers will enjoy reconsidering this book of essays in light of my epic.

Narayan, among others, from mimesis and deconstruction to the United Nations, with extensive essays on Chinese, Japanese, and South-Asian literature. Clearly the work of a poet-critic attempting to embrace a larger portion of human experience than the personal postmodern self, The Grove of the Eumenides reaches toward an epic vision of the twenty-first century. All the muck and glory of American and international experience and history mix in the complex tension of a mind struggling with itself and its age. Acutely perceptive of the spiritual and moral nuances of literature, criticism, and culture, Glaysher confronts the loss of religious faith in the modern world and breaks through to a vision of the unity of the human longing for transcendence.

At the college and university level, he taught American and non-Western literature, world religions, etc. Glaysher lived for more than fifteen years outside Michigan—in Japan, where he taught at Gunma University in Maebashi; in Arizona, on the Colorado River Indian Tribes Reservation, site of one of the largest internment camps for Japanese-Americans during WWII; in Illinois, on the central farmlands and on the Mississippi; ultimately returning to his suburban hometown of Rochester.

Most of humanity perished in the first few weeks, stricken down by a fast-moving infection, only to rise up as a zombie with an insatiable hunger for human flesh.

Millions burned to ash when the military rained fire on the cities in a futile effort to halt the contagion. Millions more simply lay down and gave up, unable, or perhaps unwilling, to exist in a world no longer fit for human occupancy. Despite all the death and destruction, there were survivors, brave men and women who stared into the face of annihilation and chose instead, to live. Together, they set about to rebuild civilization, to create something new and permanent out of the ruins of what came before.

Jan 11, Sherri Moorer rated it really liked it. I don't normally read romance, but the introduction of a fantasy element was compelling and I do love mixed genres.

One thing that particularly impressed me was that love was approached and embraced more holistically than it is in most romances. This was no "one night stand leads to marriage and happily ever after" formula. It was a real, down on her luck woman that took a long and difficult journey to discover that her quest for true love meant more than just "the perfect m A compelling read. It was a real, down on her luck woman that took a long and difficult journey to discover that her quest for true love meant more than just "the perfect man," it meant embracing her authentic self, finding beauty in the world, and giving her love back to the universe.

A great read, especially if you're tired of the same old formulas and stereotypes. A Paranormal Vampire Romance Her Panther Twins Audiobook

Jan 14, Sara Sykora rated it liked it. I thought this was quite an interesting book. A genre I have not read a lot of books in. The main character of the book completes a in her life and comes to terms with her past and present life. I was a little overwhelmed with all the technicalities of how she had to learn the four steps to finding her true love and turning her life around. Overall, it kept me interested and was a quick read. Jul 17, Denise rated it it was amazing. I found this book quite intriguing.
