Moses, however, was not convinced that he was the one to go to Pharaoh and make such demands. God did not say that Moses was incapable of speaking effectively— Moses did. Moses made these statements about himself. Moses was obviously afraid and doubted if he could do what God commanded. Even after seeing two amazing miracles 4: According to Exodus 4: Thus, in context, these statements were made about a man at two very different periods of time in his life.
And, as everyone should know, two different statements cannot rationally be said to contradict each other if they are referring to two different time periods. How many of us were better at something in our younger years? Could Moses have not been a more eloquent speaker at 40 than at 80 after spending four decades as a shepherd in a foreign land? Keep in mind, however, 1 it was Moses making this assertion, not God, and 2 we cannot be certain how far back in the past Moses meant for this statement to apply. All they had to do was do exactly what God was telling them to do on a step-by-step basis and then God did the rest.
If any of you are ever asked by God to do something that is out of your comfort zone, out of your own natural abilities — remember this part of the story of Moses. The story of Moses is a perfect, dramatic, and powerful example of just how far someone can go with God if they are willing to follow God fully and not be afraid to walk with His anointing.
God had given him a direct order to speak out to a rock and God would then cause water to flow out from this rock. For some strange reason, Moses ends up striking the rock twice with his rod instead of speaking out direct to it as God had specifically commanded him to do. Moses had disobeyed a direct order from God on how to perform this miracle.
As a result, God kept him from going into the Promised Land and he then died out in the wilderness. Some people may wonder why God was so harsh with Moses on this particular matter. Moses had done just about everything else right in God — so why would God hold this one particular act against him? I believe the main reason is that God was holding Moses to a much higher standard. Moses was also dealing with a miracle that God was wanting to perform. When you get into this level with God where He is manifesting miracles through you — you have to be operating in perfect obedience to God.
There is no negotiating with God in this higher level with Him. If God wants to manifest a particular miracle through you, then you better do exactly what God says as to how He wants to bring the miracle or manifestation about. This is one area where you cannot question God or attempt to try and do it your own way. If you do, you could seriously jeopardize anything else that God may want to do through you. You could lose your call, your ministry, your anointing, and any other blessings that God may have in store for you.
For those of you who will ever receive any kind of direct order from God on any issue — do not disobey the order or try to do it your own way like Moses did. If you do, the consequences could be severe. In some cases, it could be a matter of your own life and death.
Remember — God always knows best — you do not. Though the story of Moses ends up on a rather sad note with him not being able to enter into the Promised Land, just remember all of the good things that he did right in God. In one lifetime — in a 40 year period — Moses was able to:. And all of this occurred within a 40 year time period! Read below or add a comment Thank you for sharing this.

The story of moses is a great achievement in terms of leadership and trust. Basically, the relationship between God and Moses was an intimate one such that God spoke to Moses in the form of supernatural things. Moses was a man of humble heart and contrite spirit.
He never wanted to displease God in everything that he did. He always did everything posiible to please Him.

Everyday there are so many blessings we should be thankful for. God speaks to us in so many ways.
We just have to pay attention and beleive. Still God did interfere and so the stage to present the heavy 10 plagues was set up. To the spiritual eyes of Moses also came a vision of a premortal council held in heaven, wherein the Father presented the plan of salvation.
Jesus Christ was willing to come to earth, give his life for us, and take upon himself our sins while preserving the honor for the Father and the agency of man. Through the Prophet Joseph Smith it has been made clear that since the Fall of Adam, Jesus Christ is the being from whom revelation is received by prophets. The true nature of God has unfortunately become clouded and confused throughout much of the world because of the creeds of men and misinterpretation of the biblical text.
Without the restored light and truth afforded the Saints through the book of Moses, many have made incorrect assumptions as to the nature of God—that God is a formless spirit or that he is without body, parts, or passions. These incorrect perceptions have been perpetuated for centuries when the revelatory correcting tongues of prophets have been silenced due to apostasy. Further clarification of this doctrine was revealed to the Prophet Joseph Smith with unmistakable plainness: As part of his preparation between his call recorded in Exodus 3 and his leading the children of Israel from Egyptian bondage recorded in Exodus 12, Moses was trained in a vision by the Lord himself.
He was taught of worlds and the purposes or plan for which they had been made. Unfortunately, the clear picture of the plan of exaltation has been lost from the Bible. One of the major contributions restored by the Prophet Joseph Smith is that Moses knew that the entire plan was known even before the world was created.
The concept that there would be a creation, a fall, an atoning savior, prophets, dispensations, ordinances, and so on was all known before the world began. Each of the dispensation leaders, including Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and the Prophet Joseph Smith, had the entire plan of salvation revealed to them see Alma Part of that plan includes covenants and ordinances that are eternal or everlasting. The central or core doctrine of the plan is the infinite and eternal Atonement of Jesus Christ. President Ezra Taft Benson observed: Yet from the restored account of Moses and other revelations provided us by Joseph Smith, the answer to why the Fall occurred gives welcome enlightenment.
We come to understand more fully the necessity of this central event in the plan of salvation.
Lessons From The Story Of Moses
If they wanted to remain as they were i. But if they desired to partake, they were free to do so. After their transgression, Adam and Eve found themselves in a different world with very different conditions from their previous existence. Procreation, children, aging, pain, sorrow, joy, death, and corruption all attended the telestial world. Although this changed world now included opposition and negative contrasts to their former paradisiacal environment, both Adam and Eve rejoiced realizing the progress this new world would bring:.
Blessed be the name of God, for because of my transgression my eyes are opened, and in this life I shall have joy, and again in the flesh I shall see God. Although the promised consequences resulted from the partaking of the fruit, the book of Moses reveals that a Savior would redeem mankind:
