They want everyone else around them to do the heavy lifting, to cheer them on, to give them the money they need, to give them some sense of "guarantee. If you surround yourself with negative, unproductive people who don't have dreams of their own, then guess what?

The truth is, most people can't explain it because they aren't even sure themselves. And instead of continuing on the journey of self-discovery, they decide to give up altogether. It's far better to be misunderstood living your truth, than being entirely understood living a lie. They would rather give up entirely than adjust their expectations, shift, and continue on the journey. And then there are the people who give up purely because they lack the creativity to continue reinvent themselves. So it's sad when someone gives up on their dream purely because they don't want to put in the effort to discover the next version of themselves. For some, these tough learning moments are too much to handle. They stop seeing themselves as a work-in-progress, and start to accept that they've failed. It's a sad truth in life that the vast majority of people give up on their dreams.

As I look back on my life, I realize that every time I thought I was being rejected from something good, I was actually being redirected to something better. Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did. Through perseverance many people win success out of what seemed destined to be certain failure.

Develop success from failures. Discouragement and failure are two of the surest stepping stones to success. Failure is often that early morning hour of darkness which precedes the dawning of the day of success. I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you … never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.
