The Network is Content: Emerging dependencies in content delivery architecture. Most network providers have learned the lessons to engineer their networks in a resilient way with ring or otherwise protected network architectures. However, at the same time the network traffic patterns have changed dramatically. Today most capacity is used for high volume web and video data, and in order to accommodate to this, most content providers and operators are relying on third party content delivery networks CDN.

The CDN fault tolerance architecture, which usually includes a lot of third parties is an order of magnitude more complex than the underlying network architecture. Dollar is a respected technology innovator with over 20 years of experience designing and managing network communication infrastructures. Before founding Uplogix, he was a key network architect at several application service providers, responsible for Dollar has spent over a decade with world-class organizations such as The Coca-Cola Company and Reliant Energy, driving key aspects of technology and network architecture strategies.

The use of Iridium satellite and Uplogix appliances for out-of-band connections to cellular infrastructure to improve resiliency and access during natural disasters or local outages. Maintaining high availability of cellular networks presents a number of unique management challenges for operational staff. Current network monitoring tools fall short of meeting these challenges because they only work in-band, or when the network is up. Uplogix, an Iridium partner, automates numerous network support, maintenance, configuration, and recovery procedures when primary networks are impaired due to natural disasters or local outages.

His research interests are focused on cyber security, wireless communication, big data streaming, and user performance.

Recently, there are increasing interests on moving wireless technologies into manufacturing applications to replace the current wired communication networks to lower the installation and maintenance costs. However, as identified by NIST, the transmission error and delay caused by unreliable wireless connections have been the main concern that prevents the widely usage of wireless networks in manufacturing applications.

Imtiaz has done Telecommunication engineering work for over 21 year, with the last 15 years working for wireless service providers. In , Imtiaz was part of the Verizon team that designed and launched 4G network enabling voice and data 4G services and has years solving real 4G network deployment problems. With the recent interest and desire to transition to cloud based infrastructure, 5G networks will be constructed utilizing not only virtual network functions but with a substantial number of highly flexibly network deployment options.

With flexibility comes heightened degree of responsibilities and associated challenges.

Tim provides technical leadership of the development of advanced technologies for autonomous vehicles with a research focus in areas of wireless communications and sensors. Research and Business Opportunities Ahead

This evolution actually supports the performance increase and provides the capability to support the execution of very complex applications. Nevertheless, if these new architectures propose high computational performances, an important bottleneck appears for the communications between processors. Implementation of a classical electrical NoC is generally too limited for such architectures and cannot support the bandwidth required by the applications.

By using integrated optical technology in addition to classical technology, an ONoC can significantly increase bandwidth and decrease latency in a MPSoC based on a 3D architecture. The integration of such optical layer into a MPSoC requires to define a protocol for the communication, and in particular a protocol for the reservation of the wavelengths which ensures the communications. It allows to efficiently allocate, at runtime, the optical communication channels for a manycore architecture. The paper describes the ONI manager architecture and reservation protocol.

The synthesis results demonstrate that our interface can support a high frequency of MHz with 6 wavelengths managed. From these results, we can be optimistic about the scaling of the ONoC and its capacity to manage a large number of processors and more wavelengths.

Key properties of optical crossbars, namely a contention-free data routing b low-latency communication and c potential for high bandwidth through the use of WDM, motivate several implementations. These implementations demonstrate very different scalability and power efficiency ability depending on three key design factors: The emerging design technique relying on multi-layer deposited silicon allows reducing optical losses, which may lead to significant reduction of the power consumption. In this paper, multi-layer deposited silicon based crossbars are proposed and compared.

For this purpose, spintronic devices are proposed to combine or even replace complementary metal-oxide semiconductor CMOS technology for the implementation of integrated circuits. One of the most promising solutions is all spin logic ASL device, due to a low power consumption, high switching speed and the compatibility with CMOS. In this paper, we propose a one-bit full-adder and a multi-bits adder circuits relying on ASL devices. The performances of the circuits are evaluated with transient simulation using a compact model of ASL devices developed in Cadence.

Finally, ASL device parameters are explored for optimization.

From the system point of view, one of the most critical problems in optical communication is channel bandwidth, strongly influencing the system performance and cost. Channel bandwidth establishes the number of waveguides and wavelengths to serve each communication request. Dynamic approaches allow to define the channel bandwidth at the runtime, which leads flexible systems but may turn their performance unpredictable.
