The author, a Methodist clergyman, takes the Presbyterians to task over Calvin's doctrine of predestination. Hodgson does a good and fair job of summarizing the Calvinist position, and then artfully, skillfully, and thoroughly disassembles the Calvinist position.

The Calvinistic Doctrine of Predestination Examined and Refuted
Need to be read if one wants to have a good foundation in Biblical truth. This book is not a fun read. He seems to understand to an extent the doctrine, but fails to admit there is great mystery involved in regard to God's sovereignty and free will. The conclusions he comes to are logical, but entirely circular, and lacks the mystery of God. You can do the same sort of God belittling argument with the arminian doctrines as well. The truth is God is good, and loves, and predestines, and we get to wrestle with that until we are face to face with Him!
