Return to Book Page. When Alysin decided to surprise her boyfriend at work with dinner, the surprise was on her. Since he was going at it with his secretary on the conference table, she packed a bag and called her BFF. Jolie and Alysin had been traveling the country, working as digital nomads for ten years ever since graduation. Taking this as a sign it was time for a new move, the Sin at Sea: Taking this as a sign it was time for a new move, they decided to take a cruise, regroup, and make a plan.

Then she meets Mr. Following her lead, they pretend to be married so that she can rid herself of the guy who started hitting on her before the boat left the dock. Though it was supposed to be a momentary arrangement, he asks her to take it one step farther. Then another and another. The cruise promises to be memorable in every way that matters. Along the way, Alysin learns that she won't have to fake an orgasm if she's with someone who knows what to do, that not all men suck, but the best ones suck really well, and that sometimes what starts out as something pretend, can fast become something completely real.

Will the woman who lives life with no regrets, regret that she made that stupid rule about not exchanging names and contact info? It was supposed to be a week of simply being, of living in the moment, and enjoying every minute while it lasted. Of course, that kind of intoxication can have lingering effects. For Sin, she found herself wanting to break all the rules, to extend her time with the stranger who stole her heart. Vegas was just the right kind of place to take such a gamble.

Meeting up with BE at the gondolas was a risk. Soon Alysin will be tested. After guarding her heart for so long, she finally let a man in and discovered that the worst things in life happened when she least expected them. When she walked in on BE with another woman and overheard their heated conversation, she suddenly remembered there was a reason she made these rules. Will broken rules lead to broken hearts or will she realize that though love was a gamble, she was all in? For ten years, Sin and Jolie were inseparable. Now with Sin happily married and pregnant with twins, Jolie is feeling lost and restless.

She knows something is missing, but the closest she comes up with is a desire for her own baby. Maybe, if she could just get past her issue with men, she could find a proper sperm donor. For the past ten months, she's been working with Mac. Other than being male, he's younger, her complete opposite, and pretty much wrong in every way. Soon he instructs Jolie to take a vacation, and decides to join her. It's only a week, but by now Jolie should know that someone who seems wrong can be oh so right, and a week can change the course of a life.

I liked the stories once I finished them but just getting through them was hard for me because I felt it was monotonous and had to put it down a few times.

I liked story number one but two made me think why she went from "I know what I want" to "why am I like this? I am glad best friend found her love as well in story number three. I laughed at how outrageous Jollie acted. Her character made me like the t I took too long to read these. Her character made me like the three stories. Jun 08, pamela d bryant rated it really liked it. This was a pretty interesting book. The characters were very strange some of them. Now the ways Adysyn and Ben met was kind of sweet.

I cannot figure something was wrong with Ben when he was needing to take a nap all the time. I was glad he decided to have that study done to try to help his condition. But I hate it what happened to his sister. I also didn't like what happened to Jolie when she was in school to make her hate men.

I'm glad that she met Mac, and she found out that all men are Great! I'm glad that she met Mac, and she found out that all men are not the same. I recommend this book to all romance readers. Mar 20, Geraldine rated it really liked it. The second story was emotional and heart wrenching and there were tears. The majority of the third story was fabulous and funny but I felt the end didn't quite match the rest of the story, it seemed disjointed and rushed.

I would still recommend this series and will be looking for more from this author. Dec 12, Kimberly rated it really liked it. I loved reading all 3 books chronicling Sin and Jolie's adventures and eventually meeting their soulmates. I couldn't put this book set down. I laughed, cried, and got a bit frustrated with each character for their thinking and mindset at times, but I'd definitely recommend to ANYONE who loves to get lost in a great book.

May 05, Stephanie Zuiderweg rated it really liked it. Surprisingly enjoyable While the first book was a little over the top erotica, it led nicely to book 2 and 3, which were much more character building. I enjoyed both Sin and Jolie's story, though occasionally Jolie in book 3 was too much like Sin in the first books. Jun 26, Stephanie Sandoval rated it it was amazing.

They're so sexy and dominant, apparently all-knowing and all-powerful, and they know how to make demands and have people jump-to like no one's business. Sterling Sparrow was an enigma. After reading an entire book about him, I still know very little about the man. Aside from his seeming obsession with Araneae and keeping her safe and piecing out the secrets bit by bit, I know virtually nothing. He's rich, he's taken ov There is just something about an alphahole that really gets my juices flowing.

He's rich, he's taken over the family business after his father's death, his business is both legitimate and illegitimate, he owns a jet, and his sex appeal leaks from the pages. Oh and he was an alphahole to beat many alphaholes. Then there's Araneae herself. She was smart and independent. She had suffered some huge losses and learned how to roll with the punches and taught herself to be self-sufficient. She also had the amazing ability of not being rational while believing herself to be rational. Huge events were happening around her, at first without her knowledge, but when she was made aware of the dangers she faced, she still thought she could handle things on her own.

But she couldn't see things for what they were. So why continue to assert that you were quite capable of things that were beyond your abilities? Someone set your apartment on fire. An unknown man is trying to reach you, the plane you were supposed to be on crashed, and you're worried about bears. I only wish it were obvious to her.

Araneae can't see the forest for the trees. So smart and yet so I can't expect her to be perfect in all things. After being left to cling onto a virtual cliff, I'm looking forward to learning more about the secrets of Sterling and Araneae's past and how they affect both their present and their future. I'm especially eager to see more of the man who is quickly becoming one of my favorite alphaholes. View all 8 comments.

  • Sterling Sparrow is the prodigal son and sole heir to the Sparrow dynasty. He had everything he could ever want except someone to reign beside him. The only thing missing from his empire was his queen. He was now ready to secure his future by collecting and claiming her. She belonged to him. Araneae meets a mystery man that is devilishly handsome.

    Brightly Beams Our Father’s Mercy

His dominating dark stare is electrifying, and his desire for her is written all over his face. She felt like his prey waiting to be devoured. As she learns more about this complicated man her life is thrown upside down. She feels he may be the only person capable of giving her answers. The flame was lit as heat sparked within me, stealing my breath and twisting my insides.

This story was fabulous! I adored Sterling Sparrow. Oh my gosh is that man seductive. View all 13 comments. I was hooked from the start and I just couldn't put it down till the end. Sterling is dark, sexy and mysterious. Araneae is an interesting heroine. She is sassy and strong. I like their chemistry, there was tension and passion between them. I'm going to wait for next book! I highly recommend it! This first book, in the Web of Sin trilogy, is a great start to what appears to be a very dark, thrilling, intriguing, seductive ride.

Sterling Sparrow is powerful, arrogant, commanding and sinfully sexy. Kennedy Hawkins is smart, beautiful, caring of others and has lead her life enveloped in secrecy. Her real name is Araneae McCrie. This first book sets up Sterling and Araneae. There are so many secrets and only a few are answered.

His outer persona is so different than his inner dialogue. And then there is Araneae and her struggle with learning about her past with a man that she does remember she was warned against. This book is fast paced, sexy, and full of mystique. I know that this story will be full of delicious turns that will only have me anticipating the next book because this author delivered quite an amazing cliffhanger in book 1.

All I can say is The Web has been Cast Are you ready to be Aleatha'd? View all 20 comments. Nov 21, Manju rated it it was ok Shelves: I am not new to Aleatha Romig. This is my third series and 9th book by her. I don't find it any different from the previous eight books. He abducted the girl like Rawling and later on seduced her like Nox. Said abduction and seduction is one of the story, other half is full on Romig trademark trail of secrets of the past, an obsessive hero, and a twit of an heroine.

Sterling's con I am not new to Aleatha Romig. Sterling's constant chant of mine mine mine gave me a headache and if that was not enough, Aranaea behaved like an uncontrollable horny teenager whenever he was around. He was not that good to ignore the fact that he abducted her and then forced his will of her living with him, and marrying him. Oct 02, Pam Godwin rated it it was amazing. Secretive, unbending, and dangerously delicious, Sterling Sparrow isn't just your next book boyfriend. The page-turning suspense, blazing chemistry, and unexpected twists make this a must-read romance.

Aleatha Romig has gone back to her roots in this new series installment Web Of Lies. The sexiness was brought in, secrets were held in the background, and the drama? Well that was there full force and it had no plans of going away. Kennedy Hawkins has always lived a good safe life until one day she was told about part of her real identity. Sterling Sparrow is arrogant, rude, powerful, and whatever he wants done, it gets done. In his world, only the strong will survive and everyone else will be nothing but casualties. Kennedy Hawkins is about to find out exactly who is Sterling Sparrow is and the lengths he will go through for her.

I know that this book is only the beginning of a series so were just starting to find out little things and not have the entire facts, but I really enjoy the flow of it so far. It had this sexy aura to it that just made you want to flip the pages at warped speed just so you can get your next hit and I loved that. Now the cliffhanger, I did not love but who really likes those? Aleatha has a way with words. She's always able to grab my attention from the very first chapter. Secrets is the first book in the Web of Sin series.

    Editorial Reviews

The dark setting intrigued me and the suspense made me turn the pages constantly. The book begins with Renee being sent away by her adoptive mother. Their lives are in danger and she must run. Her mother hands her new a new identity and tells her she must move to Colorado. She will cease to be Renee and she will become Kennedy Hawkins. However, bef Aleatha has a way with words.

However, before she leaves, her mother reveals her true identity. And my greatest fear has always been that he find you. She will come to regret her decision. Or maybe not, after all, she will land in the arms of Sterling Sparrow. He's currently in charge, but one day it will be his son, Sterling. Someone who has waited to take Araneae as his wife. He's determined to do so without a second thought.

Araneae knows he has the information about her past she is desperate to learn. He holds all the cards. She must do as he says or the people closest to her will get hurt. There were so many lies and secrets! Everyone was hiding something. Araneae didn't know who to trust. I feel like there is much more for us to learn about Araneae's childhood and her real parents. I know Sterling has to be the good guy although he's the anti-hero and since her life is in danger, he has the means to protect her too.

She had a backbone. Even when she had no choice, she still made her dislike of the situation known. She didn't roll over and that was a plus. Sterling is a smart man. He served his country, cultivated true friendships along the way and now he's the CEO of Sparrow Enterprises. We know he hated his father Allister Sparrow and that he was promised Araneae when he was too young to know better. He does have an obsession with her and I'm sure he has been following her progress through the years.

It will be interesting to know how much he was involved in her life without her knowing. I'm excited about the next book and I'm so glad Aleatha is not making me wait long. Oct 17, Kate's Corner rated it it was amazing Shelves: It is all a ruse. I really liked Kennedy. She is strong, sassy, and has a backbone of steel however she always puts others over her well-being. She was always given a choice but not making the right decision would leave all of those she cared for open.

Not knowing a lot about her past, it is darker than she will ever think. There were times I though come on girl just leave but was it possible? Could she out maneuver Sterling? Did she want to? Her body said no but her head was all for it. Sterling Sparrow runs an empire he is the king of Chicago on top and in the underbelly. He has seen everything and done nearly everything as well. As long as he can relatively rest when he goes to sleep at night it has been a successful day. He is successful, domineering and has standards that are to be lived up to. There were times I loved Sterling and others where I hated them.

He trusted only two people in his life. He wanted what had always belong to him and that promise he made a long time ago. It was a conscious choice that he made. He had his standards, his dominating ways. About the chemistry this is where it gets tricky for me. Let me first say that the author hit the nail on the head with this one. It gives the book class. If that makes sense? She is with him to learn her past but truly she is with him because of the chemistry that they have although it was hard to go to the instant sexual chemistry that was there, but I adapted.

It was hook, line and sinker for me from start to finish. It is captivating, I soaked up every moment of this book. The emotions, the feels all of it wrapped up into one perfect book. Fingers crossed that the rest of the trilogy will go in the same direction. Coming to the pace of the book it was actioned packed, fast paced not a dull moment and time just flew by reading this book. Verdict I have now written more than I wanted to. Let me just I am seriously impressed by this book more than I expected to be.

Obviously, it ends on a cliffhanger so wait until all three are out you have been warned. View all 5 comments. Oct 14, Michelle rated it it was amazing Shelves: This book is just brilliant from start to finish. I couldn't put it down the story and characters are just to additive. I 've been looking forward to this book since I heard about it. I m a big fan of this author her Infidelity series is just amazing and Nox is my favourite character of hers. But I think Sterling Sparrow as just taken first place wow is just a everything you want in a hero.

He's a total alpha and can be a total butt. There so many side of him that you are in this book and it's only the first book. He can be so domineering and in your face then he's caring and gentle. He had my head so over the place but god I luvd him straight away. It's hard not fall for him he's so sexy and just drop dead gorgeous. There isn't many heroes that have done that to me. She has had to deal with a lot from a young age but has dealt with everything so well and now has got a great business under her beat.

But things can't alway stay perfect and deep down she knows that her past is goin to come back and haunt her. She just didn't know it was goin to be a sexy tall strong alpha guy like Sterling. The chemistry between them from the start was so hot. Araneae has not had anyone telling her to do in a long time she is so independent. So have this guy demand her to do things didn't really go down to well. Plus Sterling isn't used to people well woman do has he says.

So let's just say these two butt heads pretty much from the start. I understand where both characters are coming from so I find it really hard to take sides. But I do think that they need to each other it might not come across that way but I think they do. I just think that Araneae doesn't need to listen to Sterling a lil bit more but after the way this book ended I m not sure of anything. I highly recommend this book I honestly can't say enough good things about it. The story is addictive I hated putting it down. I was dying to know how things were goin to go. I got frustrated with both characters at times but I still luvd them.

I really luv it when I get a book like this that has my gripped from start to finish. The ending is still killing me. I can't believe that it ended where it did. So I m begging that we don't have to wait to long. I need more of this series and more of Sterling Sparrow. Do you like them A Domineering; B Accommodating? Secret is Aleatha going back to her dark business. No she is not a mobster, well I don't think she is, but she is the queen of edgy stories filled with mysterious, commanding and powerful sexy male characters. She weaves a tale of secrets, treason and danger. Araneae's past is hidden in the shadows and even she does not know her real identity. She knows she has to stay far from Chicago as the bad man is waiting to catch her and hurt her. When she has to go back and meet her nemesis she won' know who to believe.
