Sure, some of these poems are forgettable and pretentious and not that great, but there are so many amazing and gorgeous poems. I love that this collection is divided into three sections: Love, "She was afraid of heights, but she was much more afraid of never flying. Love, Her, and Wild. The first section has poems all centered around love, the second section is all poems about a girl and all include the word 'her' or 'she', and then the last section 'wild' includes poems about life and youth and everything else.

This collection features some truly stunning black and white photography that fits the mood of the poems so well. I know a lot of people probably don't like these poems because some of them are so simple and basic, but I really enjoyed almost all of them. In the goodreads description this book is said to have the most "tattoo-able" quotes which is something I definitely agree with. I definitely feel the urge to tattoo half of these poems.

I would classify them as greeting card poetry. And delivered in a bit of a Jack Handy voice, it lacks the sweetness of the graphical representation. Here's an example of a longer one: It might be that I'm just too damn old. But I've liked the book versions of other social media poets, so I'm not sure that's it exactly. Maybe I'm too deep. You guys know that I read a lot of mental health novels and poetry. So if I see something I have to call it out, even though it seemed small this quote bothered me: It is important for everyone to know that if you are struggling from a mental illness, that a significant other will NOT solve ALL your problems. It just irked me how this short poem turns down therapy and drugs which is an important part in recover for people who suffer. You can't just stop going to treatment because you have a significant other, like no! That one poem is why I can't give this collection a full five stars which may seem silly but I would not be who I am if I didn't mention something like that.

For the record though, the collection than says things like: For the majority this book is filled with beautiful poems and art. It does show female empowerment as times which I always love to see. My little rant makes me sound like I hated this but I really didn't. Aside from my issue with that one poem, this could have been a five star read for me. Nonetheless, I would still highly recommend this as a beautiful poetry collection.

Poetry's magic is that it is found when it's needed. Love Her Wild is full of short but nice poems that are complemented by pictures. Though not my favourite poetry book, it was still very enjoyable. Aug 25, Alison rated it it was ok Shelves: Honestly don't know why I keep doing this to myself. I know I don't like modern poetry, but damn does the aesthetic of these collections get me every time.

Every time I pick up one of these collections, it's like reading tumblr posts that have been regurgitated over and over again. None of it seems all that original or was all that inspiring. Plus, this collection had photography, but I don't wanna know how much they spent on StockPhoto because they all seemed like things I've seen before? There Honestly don't know why I keep doing this to myself. There were a few poems that sparked my interest or I felt I could get behind. The rest were just so-so and I hate saying that about poetry, but I know it's MY taste that makes me dislike this, not because it might not be good.

This book is a collection of what I'm going to call "Modern Poetry". Think Milk and Honey, and others of that ilk. I feel this is more of a collection of meaningful phrases and sentiments rather than traditional poetry. In saying that, I did really enjoy this for what it is. The poems are beautiful, evocative and full of soul.

The book itself is delightfully presented, being interspersed with gorgeous, moody, photography among the sentiments, which complimented the feel of this collection perfec This book is a collection of what I'm going to call "Modern Poetry". What did we hear? I think I was searching for treasures or stones in the clearest of pools when your face…. I came to you one rainless August night. You taught me how to live without the rain. You are thirst and thirst is all I know. You are sand, wind, sun, and burning sky, The hottest blue. You blow a breeze and brand Your breath into my mouth. You reach—then bend Your force, to break, blow, burn, and make me new. You wrap your name tight around my ribs And keep me warm. I was born for you. Above, below, by you, by you surrounded. Here is no question of whiteness, white as can be, with a purple mole at the center of each flower. Wherever his hand has lain there is a tiny purple blossom under his touch to which the fibres of her being stem one by one, each to its end, until the whole field is a white desire, empty, a single stem, a cluster, flower by flower, a pious wish to whiteness gone over— or nothing.
