The book does suffer from one aspect of 'fanfic syndrome', where you're expected to have read the first book and know all the characters and what happened previously. That being said, it definitely is a wonderful read and shouldn't deter you from reading it, although I do recommend reading Dark Horizon first, not only for the continuity, but because it is wonderful as well!
Jan 26, Richard Lewis rated it really liked it. This was a good followup to the first novel, with some more character development and a continuation of the storyline. I liked the direction some of the characters are moving and there was one totally unexpected interaction between two friends that made me laugh out loud when I read it.
Having said that, if you have not read the first book, you may feel a bit lost, ok, you WILL feel lost, but since the first book is totally worth the read, go get it first, then read this one:
