Dec 02, Ayse rated it did not like it Shelves: Definitely a YA book, it reads as if it were written by a teenager. Random things kept happening that had no point and didn't further the story any, personalities of various characters changed on a dime with no explanation or reason or follow through.

The main character's motivations made no sense -- deliberately planning to have a shitty weekend as penance; changing her mind the minute someone says anything; being wracked with self-doubt for no explainable reason; g this book was hard to enjoy. The main character's motivations made no sense -- deliberately planning to have a shitty weekend as penance; changing her mind the minute someone says anything; being wracked with self-doubt for no explainable reason; going along with that ridiculous date -- none of it makes any sense. The love story, while believable to some extent, is in the same old tired vein as love that lasts forever at first sight, moving in together within a week of having met -- it really read like the version of a romance that a teenager might imagine, but not fully fleshed out with real problems.

It reads like a string of vignettes or stream of consciousness tied together very loosely by the names of the characters, and it is exhausting. And the contrast in the parents was silly -- one is the saint who even offers to let them take over the master bedroom while she takes the spare who does that! This book is infuriating. Accidental Fastball to the Heart — G. A lot of YA queers would be able to identify with this story. So, I do recommend this book for them.

Queer or gender fluidity, fine. But there is nothing wrong with being a lesbian either. So, one tick against it there. Parts gives the impression of distinct changes in story. There were not forty-four distinct changes in story. The biggest issue I have with this story is that it gets boring in places. I mean, this story would have worked with me a whole lot more if it was condensed down.

More titles to consider

There were whole sections that did not move the story along and did not contribute to any thing worthy of that journey. It was during the latter times that I was disappointed. It was still OK. Stars knocked off for: American phrases; and in places, pseudo-teenage situations knocks stars off. Oct 21, Natsu rated it it was ok Shelves: Nothing deep or serious. Just a couple of lovestruck teens. Oct 29, Heidi rated it it was ok. Good for YA, didn't really cross over for me as an adult. Some young adult stories still work or remind me of my time as a YA, this just didn't work for me.

Chest protectors and vests are designed to reduce trauma from blunt bodily injury, but this does not offer protection from commotio cordis and may offer a false sense of security. This ineffectiveness has been confirmed by animal studies. Development of adequate chest protectors may prove difficult. Most cases are fatal.
