It is short but gives you information that you didn't know from the Slayer series if you read them first, which I did. Surprisingly good, but there are some loose ends that I suspect might be answered in the novels which I do not plan to read and some info dumping which was added for readers unfamiliar with the world building which knock it down from 4 to 3 stars. I found myself engrossed by the story and the character of Jamison from the start. Almost nothing turned out the way I anticipated in this story which endears it to me even more.
