The First Battle is an amazing book and an excellent addition to the Warriors: Dawn of the Clans. The plot felt satisfying and had numerous subplots to make the book better and neat characters. On the downside, I felt that the climax of the book was very short and rushed. But in spite of that, the climax was suspenseful.
The First Battle (Warriors: Dawn of the Clans, #3) by Erin Hunter
Anyway, The First Battle was a decent book that I'll rate four stars. Apr 26, Preston Leisure added it. I have so many mixed feelings about this book. There is so much character development. But not all of it is good. I hate the evil characters such as Tom and Clear Sky. Tom knows he is being mean and stealing the kits. Clear Sky doesn't know that he is hurting cats by claiming more territory.
The battle was especially painful because the cats who I liked were the cats that died. Even th I have so many mixed feelings about this book. Even though there were so many bad parts in this book, I loved the plot and can't wait for the sequel. May 06, Christine rated it liked it. I liked the second one way better than this one, but this book wasn't so bad. I was shocked and sad to know that Turtle Tail was going to die.
I'm excited to see what becomes of her kits, especially Pebble Heart. I felt like this installment of Warriors was really fast paced, and the battle itself wasn't exactly the best Warriors fight I've read. It was still an entertaining read, and I look forward to reading The Blazing Star. This book included some of the author's most brilliant moments in writing. Tension between characters was brought to a peak and then dealt with and a great formation is happening which is all settling down nicely into the histories of the original series.
I look forward to what is to happen next. Apr 17, Kian.

In a story where there are three male narrators, it seems all the more important to develop interesting and well-rounded female characters. However, at this time it feels like they have yet to reach their full potential. The lack of spotlight makes it difficult to connect with these characters, and I hope the remaining books have more in store for them.

While not female, River Ripple also deserves an honorary mention. Sep 22, Zoe Allen rated it it was amazing. Book 2 Thunder is returning to the moor after leave his temporary stay at Clear Skies camp and is afraid that no one will welcome him back. All the cats rush to greet him and even though their not quite sure about him they fully welcome him back into their lives. You meet an interesting cat that might know more then he is leading on and he causes a lot of trouble for the moor cats. Thunder, Lightning tail, and turtle tail must make a journey to the two leg place where danger is lurking behind eve Book 2 Thunder is returning to the moor after leave his temporary stay at Clear Skies camp and is afraid that no one will welcome him back.
Thunder, Lightning tail, and turtle tail must make a journey to the two leg place where danger is lurking behind every corner. Gray wing, Tall shadow, and Thunder go to try to reason with Clear Sky but he won't have it and his stone heart leads to something that the cats have never had to deal with before.
In this book Thunder changes his perspective of his life on the moor and in the forest. He goes from walking away from everyone he loves just to live with his dad, to taking charge of something against his dad. He changes his way of heart and returns to all his friends on the moor and helping them through one of their lowest points. By the end of the book the cat's trust him with their lives and the ability to lead them.
When he was a kit he would trip over his large paws but no longer! He is a very experienced cat. I always love a good Erin Hunter book but this book is truly amazing. There are many times when you have NO idea what will happen next or even how they will solve a problem. Clear Sky gets no better and sometimes I feel myself actually yelling at my book. If you are looking for a good book feel free to read this one. I can almost guarantee that you will love it. Jul 16, TheGracefulReader rated it it was amazing. How can this possibly be how things were meant to be? Gray Wing continues to grow as a character, making new mistakes and learning from them.
Hopefully soon peace will spread through the territories. I respect a lot about Thunder, like his decision to leave his father's group and his bravery when going after Turtle Tail's missing kits.
See a Problem?
But sometimes I forget that Thunder is still really freaking young compared to most of the cats, yet he seems to be one of the most mature out Of all of them. That doesn't bode well for the future, especially if Clear Sky keeps making horrible decisions. Huh, guess I called that death, eh? I still don't like her, but I can appreciate that strong mother's love she has. Clear Sky; Oh boy. Hopefully all of the craziness here will bring back the cool, level headed Clear Sky that I loved back at the beginning of The Sun Trail.
Understanding what motivated him - fear - has gone a long way to helping understand his choices, even if they are still horribly bad choices. Apr 17, Natalie Smith rated it liked it Shelves: It got my hopes up, because I like reading about the cats battling. Yes strange person here and yet Clear Sky completely changes his personality. The book was still good though! I loved Tall Shadow's perspective on keeping things right. Then she randomly became so sad because her brother who no one really new about, and Pebble Heart mysteriously had strange dreams, and then never again did.
Gray Wing was definitely a strong thinking wise character in the book, and had a strong sense of what's right that's probably why Tall Shadow wanted him leader when she was grieving for a brother no one knew about! Thunder was also a great character in the book by demonstrating courage and determination. I don't know if I would recommend the is book to anyone, unless they are reading the Warriors: Dawn of The Clans books, then they kinda have to read it. I did like this book not love even with all the flaws and confusioness!

May 17, Fluffy Unicorns rated it it was amazing. I'm glad the bloodshed and pointless fighting finally ended. It was starting to get on my nerves how illogical and impulsive everyone was acting. I never did get why all the other clans gave ThunderClan so much shade, they were the only ones who were like "hey I don't like the idea of Clear Sky just getting forgiven because the magical spirits told them to work together, but I hope he is more helpful now and also receives a fair punishment for his idiocy.
It's also interesting to see how Thunder is developing and is so conflicted. I've been figuring out all the founders of the clans as soon as the series started and it was great to see them all gathered together at the end of this book and gave me Into the Wild vibes.
I can't wait to read the next prequel since it's interesting to connect this series to that of the rest of the Warriors Universe. Mar 14, Aarifa rated it it was amazing Shelves: I was heartbroken at the end. I have so many questions: Why did they trust Clear Sky? Couldn't Gray Wing have sent patrols around Four trees later known as Fourtrees to see if Clear Sky was bringing anyone?
Why did Rainswept Flower just stay with the kits? She promised them she would bring Gray Wing back, but she died. Why did Falling Feather and Jackdaw's Cry kill each other? They could have persuaded each other to make a peace treaty without anyone knowing! Couldn't Clear Sky end the battle sooner?
He saw all the violence and didn't stop!
The First Battle
Why did Turtle Tail die? She had to be more careful! She should have gone with someone to protect her! Gray Wing just wanted to make peace! Actually, it kind of was his fault too, he should have just sent Rainswept Flower to talk to Clear Sky privately!

So much violence in only 3 books. I stayed up till My favorite characters, supporters His actions and ideas keep the books interesting and challenge the others to react. Wind Runner might be one of my new favourite characters, she is strong and opinionated and works well with others while seeming like she also is superior to them to some degree. I believe her story arc is gonna be great. I loved the view into Thunder's conflicting feelings towards his father and his life; you can clearly see he i Almost 5 stars!
I loved the view into Thunder's conflicting feelings towards his father and his life; you can clearly see he is struggling. And Clear Sky didn't stop him, the idiot Turtle Tail's death was heartbreaking. She is not one of my favourites but I gotta say that her death happening off-screen and with no one to witness made me tear up.
I was hoping her and Gray Wing would have kits together. Now I hope that Gray Wing will find someone else. On the topic, I am glad that he finally is realizing he is not made to be a leader. He needs that kind of backbone to find his own destiny. By using this widget you agree to the Terms of Use.

This was such a good book, and there were a lot of emotional moments in this book, and throughout the first 3 books in this series! This is a really good book. It has a lot of action and basically makes the cats seem human, like they have consciences and real emotions and can actually plan attacks, etc. I really like the plot, because it has a lot of suspense and foreshadowing that makes the reader excited to read ahead. The thing I didn't really like about the book was that it became kind of boring towards the end, because everything was mostly the same - the descriptions of the cats, their thoughts, mostly everything!
