I absolutely loved this clean historical romance. If you love second chances at love, healing and a little faith, this book is for you! Mar 09, Austin Ryan rated it it was amazing. I write book reviews on my blog. One of my tags is "Nobody writes like Sarah Monzon". That pretty much sums up how I feel about this novella. When Emory Blake is not at work, she's has her nose in a book. Her friend and up-and-coming musician Tate bets her that she couldn't possibly do the things her fictional friends do.

Emory accepts the bet on one condition; if she goes on Tate's surprise weekend trips, model This review is only for the novella "Bookishly Ever After" by Sarah Monzon. Emory accepts the bet on one condition; if she goes on Tate's surprise weekend trips, modeled after her current reading material, he will have to send in song-demos to an agent in the musical industry.

There's a lot of fun, an enviable friendship between Tate and Emory, misunderstandings, triggered memories. And the ending is I adored this novella, I kept wishing it wouldn't end. I identified deeply with Emory and her backstory. I was surprised at the depth the author was able to put into such a short story. At one point in the story I laughed out way too loud after bedtime, but thankfully didn't wake sleeping children. I briefly considered moving to an apartment building in Seattle just in case a musician around my age was prone to sit on the fire escape and play his guitar, and I was under the influence of my Kindle app.

I received a complimentary copy of this novella from the author. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone. Apr 08, Becky Smith rated it it was amazing. I have only read Pepper Basham's Facade from this collection and can't wait to read the rest of the stories. From the first chapter of Facade, and even the opening line, I was completely engrossed in this story and could not put it down! It is full of intrigue, with breath-holding suspense; and I could almost actually feel the danger that was constantly lurking everywhere.

The twists caught me by surprise!

Kari Trumbo is a talented author that gets better and better. She has a gift for writing entertaining and sweet stories. I have read several books by her and have not been disappointed yet! She has quickly become one of my go-to authors that I really enjoy reading. I recommend this book and series to anyone that enjoys reading a clean western romance with a delightful ending. This book is part of a series; however, it can be read truly as a stand-a-lone. If you are looking for a good series than Brothers of Belle Fourche is a great place to start.

Jun 03, JaneReads rated it really liked it Shelves: I very rarely read novellas as I am not a fan of many as I prefer longer stories that give me more of an opportunity to really get to know the characters. However I was excited to read this collection because it includes stories from two of my favourite authors and I liked idea that all proceeds were being donated to Live Strong Foundation. Collections like this are great for introducing to you authors you may not be familiar with. Each story is unique in its own way with no one story feeling li I very rarely read novellas as I am not a fan of many as I prefer longer stories that give me more of an opportunity to really get to know the characters.

Each story is unique in its own way with no one story feeling like another. Readers are transported to a wide range of settings featuring the upper class, farmers, mountaineers, spies, and the young adults. Give Me Thine Heart is the most historic story in the collection and takes you on a ship from Europe to America. I felt for Moira and the situation she was being forced into, however I did question her decision of leaving with a complete stranger for escape from this situation. But as I got to know Samuel I began to root for the two of them to form a relationship. Facade had me on the edge of my seat, taking me to France as Livy and Christopher are spies on a mission.

Danger lurks around every corner making me wonder if they would succeed with their mission and come out unscathed. I was holding my breath numerous times. In Bookishly Ever After, Emory is a character that any book lover who enjoys escaping the real world by engrossing themselves in a book will be able to associate with. As much as I related to the bookish side of Emory I was intrigued by the excursions Tate takes her on. It was in these three I found myself easily caring about what was going to happen with the characters.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. This review first appeared at: Jun 19, Julia Wilson rated it it was amazing. They are all unique with their characters and settings but perfectly complement each other with similar themes. I loved them all but definitely had a favourite. I wonder which one you like best?

Everyone on both sides have lost so much. The people are scarred by their losses. Women have lost their men folk and must manage the best they can.

The Good Samaritan spirit is still alive as people do good to those in need which contrasts with the carpet baggers. War changes relationships even with God. I loved the inclusion of a stray dog who attached himself to a new master. Thrown together due to inclement weather, two strangers have to work together to survive. This is a tale of overcoming, both the grief of the past and the circumstances of the present. Together we can achieve more than alone. There are some heart stopping moments but God is good and God is faithful. With God in our lives, we are unbeatable. Enchanting Nicholette by Dawn Crandall concerns reputations, new beginnings and fresh starts.

We are not bound by our past reputations. It is always unfair to judge. We must rise or fall by our own actions. A traumatic event may lock us into our past. We need to take our fear to God and trust Him and have the courage to live again. There were some highly humorous moments, including lessons on dating. A delightful tale that reminded me of Downton Abbey American style.

It explores the devastating effect of the tongue can have on lives. The story shows the importance of learning - not just letters but learning to live, trust and hope again. A name change signifies a character change reminding the reader that Jesus gives us a new name when we are adopted into His family.

There is the difficult topic of domestic abuse that affects both mind and body. This links to the theme of healing. Some important lessons are to be learnt in this tale. It concerns secret agents in occupied France showing their cunning and bravery.

Books are not just for enjoyment but can be used as an escape and a refuge.

Books are 'safe' but should we really hide from the real world and miss out? I loved all the references to books, characters and films, I felt right at home. This post civil war novella found it's way into my heart early on.

Poor Tristan Stuart barely made it to Opal Martin's porch before asking her if he could die on her porch. Lieutenant Tristan Stuart, head wound bleeding and barely conscious was on his way back from war to a home that no longer existed when he collapses on the Martin's porch. Opal and her mother are living a life of drastically reduced means in the 4.

Opal and her mother are living a life of drastically reduced means in their family home after the loss of their father and husband, who died alone on the battle field. Everyone has been affected by the war. I enjoyed the authors writing style, she made it so easy to keep reading. I enjoyed the setting, the dialogue, and the 'real' characters. I love the author notes at the end, and how she used words from her grandparents sweet romance in the story.

Review for Teach Me To Love: I absolutely loved Isabelle's story. She endured so much and could have let the pain of her past keep her from loving again, but she embraces healing, and finds purpose and true love. I fell in love with Conrad right away, the way he pursues Isabelle, is just precious.

I really enjoyed the flour fiasco, and how Isabelle turns disaster into a delicious bakery. This is a charming story of healing, love, and faith.

This is the first time I've reviewed a novella collection and hopefully it won't be my last! Each story was written by a different author and in chronological time.

The proceeds from the novel will be donated to the LiveStrong foundation, which supports those who affected by cancer. This is near to my heart as I am a cancer survivor and my mother and grandfather passed away from cancer. I was pleasantly surprised by these novellas. The plots were very engaging from the start.

Even though they we This is the first time I've reviewed a novella collection and hopefully it won't be my last! Even though they were a little shorter than your typical full length novel, each story was very developed. One thing I don't like about some novellas I've read is that the hero and heroine practically fall in love at first sight, which means the romantic tension sometimes falls a little flat.

This was not the case with these novellas. Each story had a different type of clean romantic story line that most certainly didn't fall flat. There were spiritual overtones in this collection but it was more subtle in some than others. In every case, it didn't have a "preachy" feel. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this collection and have now been able to read books from several authors that I had not previously read. Go now and pick up this perfect summer read!!
