The plaster cast of a horse, discovered in an ancient stable outside Pompeii. Nearly 2, years after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius devastated the ancient Roman city of Pompeii , archaeologists made two amazing discoveries, starting with the intact body of an ancient horse. Shipwreck found in the Black Sea with ties to ancient Greece.

By the time an Anglo-Bulgarian research team located the wreck of an ancient Greek merchant ship off the Bulgarian coast, a lack of oxygen had preserved the vessel virtually intact—mast still standing and rudders in place—for more than 2, years. The archaeological team succeeded in detecting a unique system to move and pull blocks which can be dated to the reign of King Khufu at the latest. Though the pyramids themselves were constructed mostly of limestone, not alabaster, the discovery supported longstanding theories that their builders might have used ramps and ropes to pull heavy stones over long distances.

Ancient drawing found in Israeli Church could show the face of Jesus. Found on the wall of a church amid the ruins of a Byzantine-era farming village in southern Israel, the previously unknown 1,year-old painting is a rare example of early Christian art found in the Holy Land. It was against those that threatened the new religion or fought against it. This time is analogous to Europe's Renaissance though during this time, Europe was still in the Dark Ages. The region's culture flourished and made many advances in fields including mathematics and science.

The world benefited from Muslims' discovery of the immune system, preservation of Roman and Greek texts, and invention of the number zero, the decimal system, and algebra. Even coffee was discovered during the Islamic Golden Age! The stability Muhammad brought to the region was one of the reasons that the culture was able to make such advances. Since the birth of Islam, it has become one of the largest religions of the world. It covers the globe, and through many of its sects, it has influenced the world. The terrorist branches have reached out and impacted the daily lives of every person through their traveling procedures or just the way they go to work with extra security.

Muhammad changed the shape of the Middle East that is still changing today. This is the period of relative peace in the Roman Empire for about two hundred years. What was so special about this besides the fact that it was peace for an empire that loved to fight and in which bloodshed was part of the daily life was what the peace brought forth. During that time, many innovations were developed that are still used today. Roads of amazing engineering were built and linked the far areas of the vast empire like none other before them.

A postal system was refined and utilized like never before. An explosion in the field of engineering gave us the arch, plumbing, and so many more cultural advances that were the basis of many of the things that we use each and every day of our lives. This period of peace allowed the warring empire to settle down and adjust to its new size and all its new family members.

It developed a legal system like none other. It created a culture that is envied today in many aspects. This peace helped lay down the foundations of our world today. Nothing can compare to the age of the Renaissance. Ignorance was being pushed aside and the world was beginning to see the mathematics of a falling apple, the sparkle of a dewdrop, and the wonder of a distant star. It was during this time that great men and women questioned tradition and standing beliefs. People learned that there was still a lot to learn in this great world. The earth was not the center of the universe.

There were planets besides our own. There was a world of mathematics that had functioned just under the surface where no man had yet looked. There was beauty in colors that art began to acknowledge and share with the whole world. The Renaissance gave us new light, pushing aside the Dark Ages when man was directed by superstition and fear.

The Renaissance gave the unexplainable a face and a name. There would be no more fear. Curiosity was encouraged despite opposition from those that longed to remain in the past. The Renaissance was an awakening to the world and was the beginning of all our curiosity today. As I said, putting together this list was both difficult and controversial. Thinking about what has made the world what it is now is a challenging task that puts history in perspective. Around the world, countless people and events have contributed to how you live today.

Trying to pinpoint 10 events is an exercise I'd invite you to try! If you would like to learn more about any of the events listed, below is a list of online resources. And if you have other events you wish were included in this list or perhaps even an entire list of your own , please add it in the comments along with why you think those events are among the most important in history. You have to respect to Muslim and remove it. We are respect your article. The picture of Muhammed sav is not true, because there is no such a picture in the world. You better to remove the photo that you named Mohammed scw "s. Guys can you just stop the hate! They probably don't want to put a lot of the things people know because you already know them!

1. The American Revolution

I'm just kind of annoyed with all the hate I have read, so I'll just stop reading it! Member of Asgardia, the first space nation, since October We have a section of the actual wall displayed at the National Museum of the Air Force in Dayton OH a-- It is set in darkness with a few spotlights shining on it as it was when it stood at night in Berlin. Mannequins of two people running along it on the ground are accompanied by a couple of Nazi officers on the top of it ready to shoot.

The display will surely keep people from forgetting it. I understand what you were striving for here. But events such as the defeat of Sparta by Athens, pasteurazation, the atomic bomb, computers and the internet, the Magna Carta. Gun powder and paper China more crucial events. Landing on the moon, Sputnik, vaccines, the auto and the pick up truck. It would help us if you explained your criteria for determining what was important. Number of lives saved; health standards increased; people could communicate and travel easier; number of deaths decreased, etc.

Reall you should do a basic fact check considering every single thing you said the Muslims founded was literally founded by another civilization. In addition to being obviously american centric a lot of the stuff discussed is either false [the chinese invented the printing press] the same thing [rennaisance gutenburg and protestant reformation] or irrelevant [the arw literally did not cause any significant change in the world with almost all of the revolutions that succeded it stemming from the French revolution].

And one of the worst post, in which you plotted the picture of anybody as a holly prophet sallallah u alahe wasllam. These people are clearly American, I mean, who puts the American Revolution first. Oh yeah, it is the most important time in history EVER. I personally think that the French revolution should come before that, first or last on this list I'm not French, but I think that anyway. Its so american to put the American revolution as the 1 event - it would say the french revolution instead because that actually inspired the american revolution, i would even argue World War II was more important - to me that revealed the cruelty of humanity and was more significant.

Ight Listen i am an 11th grade student and i also do college courses and her ideas she put up are amazing dont just go and tell her What to put up, you might not like some information or not think its useful then just skip that part you dont have to say something about it she tried alot and you as you notice she put alot of time and effort to this not everyone would ever do this we get this rare now in days and i am pretty sure all of you guys talking big got at least one information out of this and it was useful.

In this world you will have to see people make mistakes be the Good friend and agree with her but tell her in a polite way what she can do to make it better but that is really rude to tell her what to take off of something she created. Be the smart ones. Do not think your cool by making fun or judging someone or even simply telling someone what to do.

We are all a group trying to figure out answers to our questions so be helpful not hurtfil we are all one. I doubt the validity of this page after I read..

  1. The 10 Most Important Moments and Events in History.
  2. eventful | Definition of eventful in English by Oxford Dictionaries?
  3. Dramas of a Bald Head Queen.
  4. Menage Box Set.
  5. Double Down;

Please research well before you post out stuff like this.. The Age of Enlightenment, for it's influence on the relationship between individual rights and the proper form of government and the industrial revolution, for it's advances in the Free Market Economies and reduction in poverty. That phrase alone holds the distinction of being the most American thing I have ever read.

This leaves out the most important event in all of modern history - the Industrial Revolution!!! I can't believe some people - she has done a great job!! Everyone has their own opinions and everyone has different ideas of what is the most important to them. Let her express her opinion without being criticised!!! Also, don't worry about the people who want to take the picture of Muhammed off It's great that there are pictures to explain the points. Sorry, Raffa, but you are grossly misinformed. The place name "Israel" as a sovereign entity appears throughout the Jewish and Christian scriptures, as well as in numerous extra-biblical sources possibly dating as far back as BCE including the Merneptah Stele.

The regional name "Palaistine" does not appear in the historical record until 5th century BCE in the description by Herodotus of an undefined coastal region in the "district of Syria. Thank you for your effort, great work I just have two things to say though about incorrect statements you made in this article,. First off Jesus lived in Palestine not Israel, there was no such a name or a thing or a country before ! Your list is very biased. Too many things are from the 20th century. The printing press is a good one.

But you are missing so many things from the entire of human history and too focused on a western worldview. I'm American myself, but I think you need to dig a little deeper here. I think the invention of video games should be on there; it's stopping possible wars because now people are too lazy to do anything about it! To be honest give this her a break, she already has enough people righting about how the picture of Muhammad should come down, also I think it should stay up.

Purely for the reason, he can't be the most beautiful thing, Lucifer Satan, but before he got thrown out was the most beautiful thing. Actually not a bad list. Limiting yourself to 10 Historical events misses many other events of great significance. Two major historical events that shaped the world not listed were the Greco-Persian wars from B. If Persia had conquered Greece it is hard to imagine how different the world would be now. The Greek Age of Reason would have been delivered a death blow and the influence of Greek ideas particularly in the West would have never materialized.

The conquest of Constantinople has many consequences on events that are listed in your list. Both the Renaissance and the Protestant Reformation were made possible by documents that came out of Constantinople after the Siege. Also the current struggle of power between the West and the Middle East are greatly shaped by this event. You tried your best but it would be more better if you mentioned the brief histroy of every event, its concequencises and its accomplishments, thanks.

Honestly, your comments couldn't be any meaner. This person comes on here and tries her best to make a list that isn't biased or insulting, and all you guys can do is criticize it. Rest of the world may go to hell , according to you. There were plenty of historical events that were of much importance than Prophet Muhammad and Berlin Wall crap.

This list is absurd.

2. “Graffiti stone” found to be part of a Crusader-era altar.

What about the domestication of the horse? The invention of agriculture? Such discoveries have a MUCH greater impact of our lives and societies than any political, military or religious events. Also, most of the events listed here had little impact on the vast majority of the world's population, living in Asia and Africa.

I agree with a few things on the list. However, I agree that people's faith should be respected. Also, some of the biggest events were missed, such as the neolithic revolution and industrial revolution, and instead the american just the US though revolution was on the list. Also, the printing press was invented prior by the Chinese who make basically everything. Yes, it is just opinion, but almost every single item listed is Westernized, except for the life of Muhammad not including Jesus because Christianity was popularized in Europe.

Westernized being the US and Europe. If you went more broad with items on this list it would be better. For example, instead of Jesus and Muhammad separate, you could put them together and say religious figures, along with Abraham. You have some really great ideas and explanations, but things that literally changed everything so drastically are not on the list and the american revolution is.

In summary, although the list has good ideas, it lacks a lot of things that would make this a good list. And like you said, it is a hard list to make, just some ideas on how to maybe improve it. Never really knew about the reformation or Martin Luther before. I guess Liam Neeson narrated some things? Lol But, this was great. French Revolution was a big event too! There's no way that you could've condensed the entire history of the world into 10 events.

Some of the events listed above even overlapped each other, ie the printing press and the Renaissance. The fact that the American Revolution, which really did nothing but shift the power from the British elites to the colonial American elites, was chosen over the French Revolution is preposterous.

This post was clearly American and Eurocentric, not everything revolves around the North Atlantic you know. Definitely one of the worst list about world history that I've read. French revolution would be good instead of printing, because every invention affects world in any sphere and French are those who actually invented democracy. Also when i read this article i knew there would be far too many objections about this list being filled in with european history.

If not europe and its explorers, half of the world would still be unknown for us. Many thanks to the author of the article.

Computer identifies the most boring day in history

I think you need to change the title to '10 most important events in western society'. It seems you forgot to read through the history of the Middle East, North Africa, Central America, India, China, the African slave trade which is the foundation of the American 'libertarian' State- not just the feel good revolution and its faux pas democracy- i think you would be better off just referring to the Greek philosophers of classical antiquity instead of the American revolution- which is really just a continuation of Western European idealism.

You could even try to contextualize the list as events that brought about a kinda 'global society' especially in regard to the British Empire or further back to the Mongols but that would mean dropping probably half of your favorites from the list. In any case your title is incredibly deceptive and western-centric, sorry, but ya It seems some have objection about the American Revolution being posted as the first entry assuming the author was giving priority status.

Perhaps those objecting did not read the author's introduction. The following statement was written:. You left out what is arguably the most significant event in world history. That is contact between white Europeans in the indigenous peoples of the Americas.

Please remove the picture of prophet Muhammad sm. It is extremely offensive to Muslims. This event is vital in mankind history as it is almost like the reformation of Christiannity. Don't comment on 'islamic' extremist groups. They are not muslims. I would never go up to a German and comment how they killed 6 million Jews therefore you ought to respect the boundaries islam bares.

French revolution , the rise of communism and industrial revolution are also v important turning point of history. Your catalog sucks it is so biased! You should have more than 10 history events so that everyone who is looking for one that they can see all of them.

I think is most focused on American and North European history I am doing a narrative essay and this site was very helpful. There are some key events that you should edit onto here. My father passed away moments ago, posting his last comment on this article he said that you were an amazing writer but you never approved his comment. Please do that was his last wish. Thank you my dear beautiful Queen. I find you're list very biased, I hope you understand that just because you aren't muslim that doesn't give you any right to disrespect them.

I think that this list should be re edited. I wonder why Magna Carta and French Revolution are not included in the list. Secondly Renaissance and Reformation are important but I am not sure whether they are turning points in History, because history has seen such cultural enlightens even before, like Classical Greece and Indian Enlightenment in First century BC. And the very important point, Indian freedom struggle and making of its grand constitution for the first time out side western society was the beginning of a new experiment with democracy and prompted the proliferation of democratic movements and de-colonization all across the world.

I am a muslim and we find it extremely offensive when the prophet is drawn you cannot say we Muslims need to grow up and stop complaining about the pictures. We believe he was the most beautiful man ever to be and that his beauty cannot be expressed in a picture so I would like to kindly request that you remove that picture. Very good list - however I just can't say I feel like the American revolution merits a place at the top. Just pales in comparison to the others. Personally I think the reformation was history's most important event so were not too far off! The American Revolution was the most important event in the history of the entire world Get your head out of your arses will you?

A country of murdering delinquent Europeans who couldn't make it in Europe due to incompetence who settled a country, killing off most of it's population. Then celebrate when you 'overthrow' a cruel despot of a leader who didn't want to rule you anymore than you wanted him and who consequently didn't put a single shred of effort in to defeating your revolution.
