This book would have helped me out there because: Kitties do not like showers, either.
I also, know for a fact, that kitties also do not like hair dryers. If you want to dry your kitties hair do not use a hair dryer. The sound terrifies them and if you get it too close to their body like I did you will wind up with a dreadful surprise. I recommend this book to all people who plan on giving their kitties a bath in the future. Laminate the pages because if Kitty drags it in the tub your directions will be lost.

Bad Kitty, with her normal bad attitude, needs extra special care when bathing, like a suit of armor, an ambulance waiting in the driveway, plane tickets to go into hiding until Bad Kitty forgets about the bath and a clean set of underwear for example.
Despite all this silliness and ridiculous illustrations, the book is also a useful guide for washing cats. They do occasionally get dirty and need baths beyond what they can do for themselves. So this book while being entertaining is also instructive. The easy books that are perfectly at her level are way too boring, and the more interesting books, i. We first met Bad Kitty a few years ago with the original alphabet book about a kitty forced to eat healthy vegetables. It starts, "She wasn't always a bad kitty.
She used to be a good kitty, until one day Its good - one of those picture books I'm still happy to pick up because it is perfectly silly with humor that both kids and adults find funny. As opposed to say, Amelia Bedelia. Now Bad Kitty is back in a chapter book and she needs a bath. The drawings are plentiful and expressive, and the pacing of the book is perfect for a 1st grader bored with Nate the Great but not quite ready for Geronimo Stilton.
Some pages are a little more difficult with a lot of text, but then some pages have only a couple of lines or even just one word, such as "LICK" or "BATH". There are some difficult words in the book, but it is so engaging that Georgia was encouraged to struggle through them and ask what they mean. There is a glossary at the back of more difficult terms. Of course the glossary is just as silly as the rest of the book and includes a definition of glossary as it should.
This phase of learning to read is challenging for me as a parent because I get impatient and find so many of the books at this level are mind-numbingly simple. At the same time, I know there is a part of Georgia that is reluctant to leap head first into reading by herself because it means I won't read to her as much.
This is the first of the Bad Kitty chapter books and it is wonderful! It may not go through the alphabet as in the previous picture books, but Bad Kitty is still the master of mayhem and mischief. Bad Kitty and Poor Puppy make a complete mess of the house and themselves and now it's time for the kitty's bath. But how do you get a feline as contrary as kitty to get into the bathtub?
That is what makes this book such a romp. Not only is there the misadventure of trying to get the cat in the bath, but there are several sections of nifty facts about cats as explained by a new character named Uncle Murray. This book is a must read. After reading and loving "Bad Kitty" and "Poor Puppy", I was happily surprised to find a chapter book featuring our favorite bad kitty.
In this story, kitty has been playing hard with puppy and they both become very stinky and dirty. In the introduction, we get an explanation of how kitties typically clean themselves with their tongues; but as we soon learn, this time Kitty is so stinky and dirty that she will need an honest to goodness bath. Bathing a kitty is never an easy task and we try several different ideas. But in classic kitty style, Bad Kitty has some ideas of her own. The age range listed for this book is My son is only 4, and while some of the humor was a little over his head, he was definitely able to follow along and, because he knows the characters so well, he still enjoyed the story.
I also like that while the story reads like a chapter book, it doesn't sacrifice on the illustrations. There enough pictures in the story to keep even a younger child engaged. At the back of the book there is a glossary of some of the bigger words in the story. Even the glossary is done in a humorous and clever way. The only criticism I have is that the illustrations are black and white and the pages have a grainy, newspaper print kind of feel to them.
This just didn't feel like the same level of quality as the other bad kitty books. Just because it's a chapter book, it doesn't need to feel like a cheap paperback. I took one star off for that. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. We are a bit disapointed in this Bad Kitty book. It seems to be too long and too drawn out with things that aren't really funny, silly or connected much to the story.
It breaks from the story with things my daughter is not really interested to hear in what should be a cute funny story like other Bad Kitty books we have bought. My daughter loves these books. They have gotten her interested in reading, and helped her grow as a reader. They also have a little bit of educational value. However, the marketplace seller I bought it from listed as being in very good condition, yet it was written in.
Be wary of buying your books from these marketplace sellers. The 'Bad Kitty' series are great first Chapter Books. They look long and have plus pages but they are very easily read by kids who want to read chapter books but are a little scared by the chapter books with a lot of pages but not a lot of pictures.
These books are a great confidence booster to get your child to take the next step in reading more chapter books. My granddaughter just loves this book.
