Dec 28, Jessica West rated it it was amazing. Gossamer Wings is a collection of short stories and some flash fiction that Mr. Zachary crafted mostly in response to writing challenges issued by Chuck Wendig via his blog, Terrible Minds.

As a writer starting out in much the same way myself, I was at once encouraged to find a kindred spirit and intimidated because, holy wordsmithery Batman, this guy is good! If you haven't checked it out yet, I highly recommend you pick up a copy of Gossamer Wings asap. Some stories left me a little confused and some left me wanting more.

Please try again later. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. The reviews for this book were pretty good, but I have to say this was, by far, one of the worst books I've ever read. With no intention of being cruel to the author, it seemed that every lesson of English was tossed into the story in rapid fire.
Bizarre, yet unimportant characters the beatnik renter, Mr. Paradiso more dramatic accidents than a Latin soap opera and the overabundant use of 'bro' and 'dude' that even Bill and Ted would find ridiculous makes this book a less than top-notch read. Very well written It would make a wonderful Hallmark movie! Ortel's Gossamer Wings will appeal to a range of readers, especially those who like both adult and adolescent coming-of-age stories peppered with verbal wit, salted with screwball humor, and spiced with mystery and a dash of romance. There's even a pinch of the supernatural. The opening paragraph offers the light appetizers: Neil didn't know it, but at this moment in time, his future couldn't have been brighter.
His journey had begun. The concluding dessert both satisfies and cleanses the palate. Ortel cooks up a feast that exquisitely continues quenching the reader's hunger while whetting the appetite for more, in chapter after chapter.

A totally enjoyable Steampunk adventure that had me engrossed from start to finish. I totally loved every moment of this very interesting romance. Charlotte and Dexter have a relationship that is absolutely fun to read. The way that this book starts out is interesting because it takes us to the past so that we can understand what is going on between the English and the French. We are in the middle of a mission going wrong, papers designed for some kind of weapon have fallen into the wrong hands, plus someone dying.
Charlotte has always wanted answers as to why her husband died. Charlotte is now an agent herself. She finds that Dexter is a very interesting guy as he makes all of the gadgets that she needs.
Plus he himself is a Baron of sorts. So he is nobility like herself in a way. Him and Charlotte are going to enter into a fake marriage, not realizing that they will develop very real feelings along the way. Also Charlotte has invented an airship of her own, that she calls the Gossamer Wing. The Gossamer Wing is an airship that can move very quietly and will come in handy during night missions. Dexter finds Charlotte to be a very interesting and intriguing woman.
One that intrigues him so much in fact.
