The area is famous for its all its bars and pubs and it didn't disappoint. Every pub had friendly staff and we always made to feel welcome even in such a big group, something you wouldn't find in London. The night continued into the early morning as some people tried to drink all the Guinness in Ireland.

Resulting in only a handful of people making it down to the lovely full Irish breakfast that the hotel provided. As people slowly rose from the dead a few of us took the time to explore some of the city in daylight before the flight home. Luckily, we found a few traditional bars in which to rehydrate after the all the walking. The trip was a great success although another night would have been perfect.

I have never attempted anything like this before, so completing this challenge will be a lifetime personal achievement, at the same time, raising funds for a very worthy charity. In short others have been and done it, probably younger and fitter. Some in less time than I propose, but these were supported riders. I will be totally unsupported and alone for 8 days - unless I make friends on the way, or people decide to lend morale support. As someone who has used the facilities and treatment offered by the Firefighter Charity I appreciate what a fantastic service they provide.

They are there to help injured firefighters and their families during their time of need. Please help me raise as much money as Western Area Darts Trip Seven welfare members from Hendon green watch and one from possible for this valuable Barking green watch attended an afternoon session at the PDC charity. Customary for week for a firefighter, spectators to wear fancy dress, we got into the spirit by all donning serving or retired to receive our best Christmas jumpers; rather under fancy dressed compared treatment at one of their to many though.

Thank you to the welfare section for subsidising this team building justgiving. At the end of the week we all agreed to book next years trip with out delay, and our brilliant tour organisers, Geoff and Carol have already been on the case and booked our next years trip to St Christoph am Arlberg. The area is well for those wanting to take a ski break in the sun! St Anton here we come! I remarked then on how quiet and uspoilt it was and, apart from a few new lifts, I am pleased to report it has hardly changed.

We were certainly in for a week of empty slopes, excellent snow conditions and sunshine and……very freezing temperatures! Boot and ski storage was available close by, so at the end of the day it took just a couple of minutes to take our boots off and dissapear in to the nearest bar - actually the only open one in the village!! Although not as extensive as some resorts, Champoluc, Gressoney and Alagna had some good skiing for all, with as much room to manouver on the pistes as you could wish for.

The mountain restaurants offered reasonabley priced drinks most important! So, overall, the trip was as good and enjoyable as ever, with a few 32 Welfare Fund Magazine Spring It was an enjoyable, vibrant event in which 94 people attended. As usual the venue was decorated to a high standard with all singing and dancing fantastic lighting and decor that brightened up the room, turning the Sir Freddie Delve Suite into a party palace. On this occasion we decided to use just half the venue which worked very well.

Giving the Freddie Delve a real Christmas and cosy feeling. The musical aspect of the night, was controlled by our new regular DJ Nicky, who played a nice mixture of music in order to cater for all types. He created an amazing disco atmosphere, getting the majority of our attendees onto the dance floor.

As always, we provided a large range of melt in the mouth desserts. All attendees were able to part take in a wide selection of drinks from sparkling wine, bottled beers and ciders to soft drinks and some lucky early birds even got a glass of Caribbean punch, which definitely went down exceedingly well and helped to get attendees into the party spirit.

The raffle is always an exciting part of the evening as most of the attendees are anxious to be one of the winners. Again, we had a good selection of prizes ranging from a spa day including treatments and bubbly to a three course meal for two with champagne and two other experiences… all the way to a bottle of champagne and a luxury box of chocolates. We can safely say everybody that attended had a great time and left with a smile on their face, full of the food and drink not to mention Christmas.

I would like to say a big thank you to the following people for giving up their time in order to make the Christmas party a great event and success once again, as their help was very much appreciated and went a long way in ensuring the party from the planning, execution and clear up were completed within the timeframe. As this was unknown Dick Peatfield, Bob Miles and Tony Lovell decided to test it out before the competition, they chose the first three pegs at the gate. Dick was first to catch a 21lb pike! Then Tony a PB of 10lb, Bob had four between 4 and 6lb then Tony beating his best at 15lb with more small jack pike to all the anglers before the end of the day.

A great days fishing and confidence making for a good day the next week. February the 24th, the day after a violently windy storm which brought trees down all around the venue. This did not deter the LFB pike anglers looking for a good day. Eddie Marriott, myself and Mitch Copplestone were the first three to draw and strangely enough chose the three pegs fished the Fire Sport Carp pairs match.

Stuart Lovell last year's champion caught a small pike of 2lb and Lancaster was the LFB organiser, no stranger to the magazine this although the fishing was slow everyone was enjoying the warm year Stuart competed and won medals in the swimming nationals spring day, tea and banter, Dick was next to catch a 6lb fish and well done!

This one is fished over three days with a partner in the same peg, There was speculation why the fishing was not quite as a combined weight for the pairs and largest weight for individual. Singleton, Ricky Durant's partner unfortunately had to drop out at Even so a enjoyable day with Tony taking third place, Dick second the last moment so was only fishing for the individual position. The carp were pretty slow to start feeding but Stuart and Graham Thank you to all the chaps who attended. A date for the diary this caught good fish to lead into the evening, throughout the night year's pairs pike national which is in South Yorkshire on November Stuart outclassed the other anglers by catching and releasing 8th over lb of carp, at the end of the competition Stuart had just Please contact me and reserve a peg!

Polar Bears welcome 1st Rifles 1 Recent searches: This was the turning point as we went on to Merseyside in the English Cup. We had a strong side available and score 4 more. Wood Foster x 2 and Georgiou. Again we ran out 6 opted to play a 4 4 2 line up. We welcomed back Nick Wilson -2 winners to reach our first cup final of the season. Dagenham in goal after Charlie Hassle had broken his ankle Due to the weather we are waiting to play East Scotland in our before the season had even started. John Aldridge Whitechapel other semi-final.

A good solid performance to see Georgiou to slot home. However Merseyside started to take us win the game We were hanging scoring for us. Next was a home tie to Manchester, but they pulled on, making silly errors and not playing to our strengths. A fine out putting us into a quarter final tie. Bedfordshire again at home double save from Wilson kept us in it as the ref blew for half time. Knighty had a decent squad to pick from, however Bedfordshire played well, probably one of the better Vets sides we have come A few harsh words and some changes bought the desired result up against.

We took the lead through Mark Dagger, but and in the second half goals from Hackett, Francis and Georgiou Bedfordshire hit back. It was a tight game and then in the second see us run out 4 - 0 winners. Our next game was an away trip to half we were awarded a penalty. We changed our formation to 3 5 2 as couldn't finish them off.

Another penalty was awarded to us, but we believed we had better attack minded players. We also we missed it. Again we struggled to pull away, but eventually welcomed Adam Foster North Kensington , Luke Vernon and Dave Ellis struck late on to give us a win. This gave us a semi- Luke Partridge both Bethnal Green into the squad. We started final tie against South Yorkshire. But due to unforeseen really well.

Going one up via an own goal in 30 seconds. However circumstances this game is yet to be played. We had three more good changes before another error see us go down within a In the UK Cup we took on Herefordshire. Again a strong squad minute. Foster scored to make it 2 all.

Dark Brigade

We then took control and proved too much as we again ran out winners. Next we took goals from Vernon and Georgiou gave us a half time lead. We on Hampshire, once again at home and yet again we were far too started the second half as we finished the first. Scoring five more good and beat them 7 This put us into another semi-final. Hampshire got one back, but we ran out winners. Next up was an away trip away to Cornwall in December in the English Cup.

We decided to fly down and back for the game To say it was slightly windy when we all met at Gatwick is a bit of an understatement. At this point our keeper Wilson informed us he wasn't the best when it came to flying. As the cabin crew prepared for take-off they decided to move some passengers around as in their words "it will be a bumpy ride into Newquay airport. After a roller coaster ride into Newquay we got to the pitch to find bright blue skies. However the next 90 minutes we saw rain, sleet, 70mph winds and snow. Again we started well going 1 up in a minute then 2 up two minutes later from Georgiou and Brendan.

But Cornwall came back into it and before long it was 2 all. Just before half time we scored again, Georgiou to take a half time lead, the two Dave's where not impressed with the ease at which we were conceding goals and that if we cut this out we would take the win.
