The internal meaning is that the devotees of Vrindavan, who worship Lord Krishna [Jagannatha] in spontaneous love wish to pull Him there, away from Dvaraka, where He is worshiped in opulence.
Ratha-yatra is important to us because it is important to Srila Prabhupada, who began at age five to observe Ratha-yatra with his childhood friends and who introduced it in ISKCON in , the very year Lord Jagannatha appeared at our San Francisco temple.
