Patrick was a high school state camp wrestler, horse breaker, rancher, pilot, miner, master mechanic, welder, heavy equipment operator and jack of all trades. He spent many years in Wyoming working at General Chemical where he retired in He was very outspoken and said what was on his mind.

He was willing to help anybody, even a complete stranger, and had a great sense of humor. He also liked gathering the family around, even collecting strays who needed a family. He is survived by his wife, Mary S. Leon and Mary lived in Blanding after marrying while Leon worked in the uranium mines. Leon continued to work at the mines and later found a job working at Dixon manufacturing in Grand Junction where he later became head of maintenance. Mary joined him as an employee at Dixon and they worked together for over 20 years. Leon retired in After retiring Leon wanted to return to Blanding. Although Mary preferred to stay in Colorado, she supported him in this interest and they sold their Palisade farm in and moved to their present home in Blanding.

For many years, he and Mary served in their ward nursery. Leon and Mary were inseparable. They did everything together. When asked recently for counsel from a grandson, he said, "find yourself a wife like Mary". Although his body began to fail him and he lacked much hearing, sight and could barely breath he continued to be as active as possible, looking for new projects and ways to help others, never losing the smile that all who knew him will remember. Leon will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Leon was buried in the Blanding cemetery.

In , they moved to Moab, where Leon ran a Credit Bureau. While in Moab, Leon sold his business and went to work with his brothers in a uranium mine in Colorado. In , Leon and Mary moved to Palisade, CO, where they bought a farm on eight acres and raised peaches, hay and farm animals. Leon continued to work at the mines and later found a job at Dixon manufacturing in Grand Junction, where he later became head of maintenance. After retiring, Leon wanted to return to Blanding.

His favorite place to be was anywhere in San Juan County, whether on Blue Mountain, out in the sage brush, pine trees and junipers, or down in Bluff. Leon also loved his family. His family extended far beyond his own children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved people—and everyone loved Leon. It was hard not to. As a young woman she worked to become a licensed beautician and also graduated from Stevens-Henager College before serving a full time mission to England. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served in numerous callings throughout her life. She and her husband served a mission to Panama and also served for many years as temple workers in both the Logan and Twin Falls Temples. Dora had great enthusiasm for life. Her warm and friendly personality, coupled with her sincere interest in people, drew many to her. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, and her greatest joys were always centered in her family.

She was also very talented musically. She was a gifted pianist and was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice and she gladly shared these talents in both the church and the community all her life. Her father died when she was five leaving her mother to raise 5 children on her own. She later married Elam Farlin Allen, who was a loving step-father to Berdine. They had been married 69 years at that time. Berdine and Bob loved to bowl and golf and won many trophies. They were always surrounded by many wonderful friends. Berdine's joys in life were her family, reading, painting, and playing the piano and organ. She was a devoted, loving mother to three daughters. She hosted family parties for birthdays, holidays and special events, giving her family many wonderful memories.
