I enjoyed this book through the course I took. It's structured well, but is sometimes vague. It just covers so much content and often things aren't explained fully so you have to read between the lines. It's best if you already have a pretty good grasp of the topic being discussed but if you use it along with the other material power points and chapter reviews that your professor should have, you'll be fine.
Heritage of World Civilizations, The, Volume 1, 10th Edition
You probably don't have much of a choice anyway though if your professor uses the book. Stay away from ANY class that uses this book! It is the most disorganized mess that will leave you frustrated. This is one of the worst books ever written! I find it hard to believe they keep asking the same people to author World history!
It is clearly not written with the student in mind! I had to deal with these same authors for my previous World History Class, which was on campus. If it were not for attending lecture, I would have been ill-prepared for understanding History. This semester, with Vol. The flip-flop sequencing of the history, with no connections to other civilizations or their time-frame. It is piecemealed together and is one of the worst history books I have been a part of. Some of its better qualities are the snipets from historical data, most of which is tied to a small but important insight into a specific letter or event.
If you must purchase the text for a class, be prepared to take detailed notes from your lecture, as an instructor is needed to tie together all the loose ends. This book starts off at chapter I'm screwed for the beginning of my history class.
Heritage of World Civilizations, The, Volume 1, 10th Edition
One person found this helpful. A great academic read on a diverse array of world civilizations. Rented it for a college class. Its pretty expensive for a cheap paperback book and I feel bad for those who do not have the option to rent this. Overall helped with the class, but I would not buy it just to read on my free time.
This book was definitely worth the buy.

It is a used book, so I cannot complain much about the condition. Everything was still intact and readable. For the price paid, I really cannot complain!! Kindle Edition Verified Purchase.
