Wow, less than 24 hours after finishing this, I can't recall much about it at all. Not even a really good bad guy. Very clean, not even a kiss until the HEA. This one was cute, completely derivative of Heyer's London novels, featuring the ingenue heiress, the rebellious sister of the hero, the lovably mischievous little brother, the fortune hunter abducting an heiress, and the stolid country relation sent to fetch the heroine home, and it rather clumsily shoehorned in Caroline Lamb's infatuation with Byron, Spencer Perceval's assassination, and Beau Brummell's affectations, but as brain candy, it hit the spot at the close of a particularly stressful day.

  • Not bad but not great. The heroine was fun but perhaps a little too perfect. Feb 02, Mary Hale rated it liked it. Reminded me of Georgette Heyer. May 30, Monique rated it it was ok. A little fuzzy on what happened at the end besides the predictable ending but I believe this is the one where the mom doesn't really care about her own daughter or let's just say children and the H doesn't know how to deal with his little brother preferring beating and the like, although h interferes a bunch and screaming matches ensues , and besides the subtle violent tendencies of the guy, this was just ok.

I've noticed that this author cannot seem to write romance without referencing the physical sensations dominated by attraction. Like, actually write about them liking each other, admiring qualities, spending time with each other because there's so much more to a relationship than attraction. Besides the whole "he makes me feel " I never really got the feel that they even liked each others personalities.

Like, one of those, they'll-be-estranged-in-two-years relationships that was a "love" match.

On the other hand, this was perfectly clean if you measure cleanness by no sex and stuff , but it is a bit warm describing those "physical feelings" so I wouldn't recommend because of that and lack of a proper relationship in this book I like my romances with quality.
