I was glad this time there's not too much details like the previous book, maybe it's Aaron's 'occupancy' make it hard to put on details. Speaking of Aaron's job, I think this should be a bit more fire in the story, but it's was just okay, while I need 'steamy' at time. This is actually sweet, with a little ridiculous jealousy here and there. The low self esteem of Jackson about relationship. And the way Aaron tried to convinced Jackson that not every relationship will ended bad.
I'm still having a hard time with the nosy family, especially the twins and Mother. Well, Aaron seemed okay with them, so I also have a little problem with Aaron's job at the end of the book. But since Jackson accepted what he do for a living, I guess, that won't be my problem in the future.
Let Jackson have it. Overall, this is an okay read. If you're looking for this kind of story, go for it! No high rating required. Oct 24, Ami rated it liked it Shelves: I liked that they are not homophobic bigot family, so no hateful comments from older uncle, or church-going aunties I thought Aaron was a good man.
It wasn't exhilarating enough and the view spoiler [time jump hide spoiler ] fizzled out the story near the end. Mar 17, Sylvia rated it really liked it. I really liked Jackson he was just so sweet my favorite part was when Jackson said what he's looking for in a partner ; You're perfect to me even if they're not to anyone else. Sep 15, Line rated it really liked it Shelves: After a re-read my rating definitely still stands. Meg Harding does these really great, fun, chill romances so well, and they make me smile like crazy.
Yes, the whole series follows the same storyline: I am a BIG fan of MCs making sure they're the best people they can be for their partner, and Jackson's rationalization after the fact, really made me like him even more. His insights were great and I thought their romance was great. I will definitely read these books again, and I recommend them if you want to read something lighthearted and fun. The concept of this story is not very creative but appealing nevertheless. Escort meets a guy on a professional level and after some time - surprise!!! Both like each other and they move on from pretending to a "holiday fling" both knowing it cannot be more than that. The book kept me entertained and it was an okay read but honestly, it was rather average. The story was extremely predictable no surprises whatsoever. The main characters were strange. Jackson, telling Aaron why his relationships always fail, thinks he is strange and I must admit, I think he is right about that.
Everything felt "written" and not natural. Everyone acted in a weird way and the story evolved really strangely. This was okay while it lasted but nothing I would recommend and for me average 3 stars. Nov 03, Cathy Hope rated it liked it. I enjoyed the premise and the story was reasonably well written but I was very frustrated by the constant use of present tense. Oct 14, Barbara rated it it was amazing. Jackson comes from a loving and rich family and does well on his own as a make-up artist for famous movies.
He has four brother sisters. They are all noisy and intrusive, but supportive. Aaron is an escort who dates, but does nothing sexually with his clients. Both men are gay. Jackson has a rough time with relationships with the last one being so rough that he got rid of all his possessions and bought a house because he felt that everything in his home as tainted by his ex-boyfriend and his lover. Jacksons's sister sets him up with Aaron as his date at a family reunion in Hawaii. They make an instant connection when they meet.
Aaron soon realizes that he is in for a rough time as the family reunion involves competitions to win a trophy that the families fight for the honor of having until the next reunion. There is a lot of angst in this as well as family love, loyalty, hot sex, misunderstandings, denying feelings, nosey family members and lust.
The games are fun to read about and instead of making the MCs heroes, they fall and have to pick themselves up just like normal people. The games help Jackson and Aaron learn to know each other better. This is a funny, at times sad, story. It gives a picture of a man who has many hang ups and phobias and a mouth that never shuts up. It also shows a man who is wise in the ways of people, but who fails himself by making decisions that are only going to break his heart. A really good story. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC book.
He is really to pitty and you only want to hug and cuddle him closely. The idea of helping him with an escort to prevent the nasty questioning of his mother let me laugh viciously and a bit mean. Great sex scenes and sensual tension rising during the whole novel. Also with sweet emotions which clench your hearts. Just what I love.

Feb 01, Rachel Emily rated it really liked it Shelves: I thought that this was a great follow up to the first book in the series - which I loved. This was adorable, funny, and when Jackson and Aaron were together? I always love the fake relationship becomes the real thing trope, and this was incredibly enjoyable to read. Great writing, fun characters, we got to see James and Bastien again, and plenty more of this crazy family!

Very cute characters and great family. Humorous if not a little predictable. Sep 01, Chrissie rated it really liked it Shelves: This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. The stories aren't mind blowing and I don't fall in love with the characters as much as I could but I do really enjoy reading them and continuing on the series about the Carlisle family. This is the second book and it, for the most part takes place in Hawaii.
It was an interesting read but I wouldn't go as far to say entertaining. I wasn't crazy about their extended family, we were warned plenty beforehand so I shouldn't have been surprised but they just weren't great additions IMO and the whole competition part of the story wasn't for me.
Thankfully we didn't get too much of them however we did get a somewhat unnecessary brochure about Hawaii. Unfortunately it wasn't just a one time thing for book 1, the sex scenes do not come in spades which is a little disappointing. Just subtly suggest we get more rumble and tumble in future stories.. Thus far the stories I have read from this author have been light, low drama reads, but with that said it doesn't necessarily mean things are fluffy and smiley the whole way through. I actually deeply related to Jackson's insecurities which meant that every negative thought and insecure feeling was projected through the pages and I felt everything myself.
For me that's means the author did their job right however is also means whist the story was incredibly light it also had more depth and an undercurrent of sadness. I can't imagine this will be everyone's experience. As with the last book, the epilogue wasn't great. This is probably because it's a series and it won't be the last time we see and hear about this couple.
However I still would have liked a little more, the story is somewhat subdued and doesn't blow your mind and I think if your stories are going to be like that, intentionally or not then you can absolutely add a little bit of fluff and love to things. By the time the 'drama' the inevitable bad part of the story for the couple was over I thought they were kind of past dating and being casual and withholding their real feelings, I just kinda wanted them to bask in the realisation that they both had some pretty serious feelings for each other and the so many months of being apart was torture for them both equally.
Instead the author gave us some well thought of but does nothing for my girly parts and doesn't really make my stomach flutter, creative dates and a family meal, this girl needs a little more cheese and fluff in her romances, not to the point where it cheapens the writing but enough that I'm left grinning like an idiot.
I'm going to shut up now and recommend this series to others to give a try, preferably starting with book 1. It was not safe. He could be killed. But once in a lifetime is allowed to everyone. The agency said it's going to take only thirty minutes. Only twenty-nine minutes were left. Is he going to be hot? It's sex, something whole world is crazy about. After five minutes someone knocked.

Lists with This Book. This book is not yet featured on Listopia. I used to write boring blogs in a funny way and there were not many readers. One day I got really disappointed and decided to write something everyone would read no matter what. So I chose Erotica and result is this novel. It is not about escorts. Though there are many escorts. The story is not about mafia either though it is mafia story. It is a badass alpha male classic Romance but it is not about that. The book is full of sexual content and now I feel it is excessive. But that is just an insecure aut I used to write boring blogs in a funny way and there were not many readers.
But that is just an insecure author worrying that none will read her book. That insecurity expands to pages and beyond. What is this book all about? People who have read this will get me. It is about Time. Time heals us and it kills us too. Time is our best friend and it is the most enemy. It is our lucky charm and it is our bad luck. It is a blessing and it is a curse. Like a shifter, it shifts. Like a vampire, it feeds on us and then hypnotize us to forget everything.

I try my best to develop characters and I try to make them life-like. Writing an erotica story made me feel guilty all the time. I am a very moral person and ethics are always there to ruin all the fun for me. When I wrote this, i was constantly bugged by the thought how will this story affect a young mind? What if a young teenager girl reads this and decides to find a mobster and chase him?
I know I am not responsible like those people who created dynamites or bombs or guns.

We are people with ideas but does this idea should see the daylight? It was fun writing this. If you have read this far then let me request you to write a genuine review of this book. The book is not boring but it IS a philosophy wrapped up in classic romance. Through out the book it expresses Kia's personality which sort of let's you see into her heart.

Dec 22, Sue rated it really liked it. I was really happy to receive a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I don't usually read much light romance as I tend to favor the dark and dirty world of bikers, rockstars and deviants When Clover's evil boss keeps trying to dismiss her and put her down as being not worthy of even having a boyfriend, she is forced to hire an escort to accompany her to a business function. Enter the handsome and very confident Damon who is only too happy to "play pretend" boyfriend for the curvy Clover and what follows is an adorable and at times very comedic story of two people who are shocked into changing their ways for another There is very little romance in the book and sexual scenes are pretty much non-existent kissing and light touching is pretty much it so for those who don't like explicit sex in books It focuses more on family relationships, getting to know what makes another person tick and how to re-invent yourself to become the person you were meant to be but kept hidden.

Dec 31, Maura rated it liked it Shelves: This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I have to say, first person POV in a story, usually makes me nervous, because inevitably I become irritated by the inner workings of that character's mind and I want to know what other characters are thinking.
In this case, the author pulled it off nicely. I was never irritated with the heroine - she was an honest-to-goodness likable person and I didn't mind even enjoyed being inside her head. While there were times I wanted I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. While there were times I wanted to know what Damon, the hero, was thinking, I'm glad I never did, because he was so sweet and mysterious as a result. While there was not a lot of physical romance between the two main characters, what little there was actually sparked - it was sheer chemistry and very well written.
Debra was probably my favorite character, but I'm a sucker for villain-like characters. This was a good and relatively quick read. The other is in the dialogue, which on occasion felt a bit too formal where contractions might have sounded a bit more normal in speech but maybe that's a cultural thing I understand the author is Australian and that might explain it Dec 20, Jessica rated it did not like it Shelves: I've decided to institute a 5 mistake maximum.
After i hit 5 mistakes I will put the book down no matter what to prevent me getting pissed off about people who can't spellcheck. This book only hit 3 that I found but a lot more of the language was just awkward. Contractions are your friend. If you avoid them your book very quickly starts to sound like my law texts and i'm reading romances for a reason. The dialogue also didn't fit together. Like one character would ask a qu I've decided to institute a 5 mistake maximum. Like one character would ask a question and the other character would say something completely unrelated to the question like they never even heard it.
Also I was really just bored. I think i made it about halfway through without anything of real interest happening. There wasn't any romance and i skipped around through the rest of the book and didn't see any sex scenes so I don't really know what this was intended to be. The heroine was too insecure to appeal to me and the hero seemed to be too cool and aloof to be appealing. View all 5 comments. Jan 15, Amanda Hammond rated it really liked it.
