Both females and males punish their own gender much more viciously for behavior outside the lines. For this reason, I believe female coaches cannot succeed simply by mimicking male coaching behavior. Their female athletes will rebel. Instead, female athletes need successful female coaching models to learn the gender-related behavioral standards required for leading teams.

A better mantra for coaches of females is: It is harder to work with women than with men since you have to constantly fight against the female psyche. Technique, the game, training, you do all the same things with men or women, but the male and female psyches are completely different.
It is hard with one woman, to say nothing of having constant control over fifteen or twenty of them. At the men's competition at the Olympics in Barcelona, first and second places were won by coaches who had once worked with women, for they had a better understanding of psychology than anyone… When we come down or should I say rise up! Their priority is money. They enjoy fame, but it is less important. On the other hand women are in sport most frequently because they want to prove themselves, to come out of the shadows. The thing that motivates them most is love. I don't think it is harder to work with men or women, considering I have coached both.
You are also dealing with different cultural and societal issues in your country. It is a matter of motivation and how each gender is motivated, both individually and as a team. I believe Kathy DeBoer does a great job with communication techniques and patterns to the genders. Your email address will not be published. Notify me of follow-up comments by email.

What are academies for actors, for players were teams. Through teams, coaches created and perfected players. If coach devotes to developing players, he can lose couple of games and because of that he will be replaced. Some teams change two or three trainers during the season.
To improve some players, trainer has to work systematically several years, many years. Now, trainers just throw the balls. Because of commercialization we got much more time on television and in newspapers.

Unfortunately, quality of players decreased, and I can barely stand that. In the end, volleyball rules changed because of commercialization and money from television advertising. Second, because of lot of games and not so much training, players are often injured. But, there is also a good stuff. Players are making much more money now. The game was more interesting, the ball was more time in the air, players were more concentrated, the old rules were better for audience too.
