Each chapter concludes with a "Becoming a Lighthouse" section with several ways to implement the principles discussed in the chapters in your own family. As a mom of two small boys, I really appreciated the ideas in the book. As we are called to make disciples, it needs to begin at home. It caused me to reflect and reevaluate ways that I am introducing my boys to Jesus, as well as ways that I need to do better.

I loved the stories that they told to show how the principles came to life in their own home. This is a great, practical handbook full of ideas that can be implemented in your own home and neighborhood. It's perfect for families, but several chapters are perfectly appropriate for singles or couples without children. Jul 10, IrenesBookReviews rated it really liked it. This book has helpful information about ways to expand your families outreach. The outreach it is talking about is being a family that witnesses for the Lord in all they do. I did not find as much helpful information in this book as I thought I would.
I did think it was more of a do this and this book then just helpful advice. I felt it was saying if you do not do these things then you are not doing enough for the Lord as a family. I do however think that if you are This book has helpful information about ways to expand your families outreach.
I do however think that if you are looking for some ways your family can make more of a difference in the world this book would be a great read for you.

I really appreciated the author's focus on evangelism being more than a "program". Our homes should reflect God's love to anyone who is in need. I disagree with the author on how one obtains salvation ie sinner's prayer , which is not found in the Bible, but as a baptized Christian, I was not reading it looking for salvation.
Organic Outreach for Families: Turning Your Home into a Lighthouse
A good read that will give inspiration to those of us who feel like they can't join evangelism programs due to their stage in life stay at home moms, etc. Apr 08, Cory Brown rated it it was amazing. Organic Outreach for Familes
My home has not been a lighthouse. It's been more of a self-serving environment, as each of us do our own entertaining thing. Reading Organic Outreach has left me wanting more for my family. As Christians, it should be each of our desire to grow closer to God and share His great love with others. How did I forget that in the midst of day to day living? I'm determined to reconnect with God, be real and honest with my kids in how I live, and show them through God's Word how to live a life that is joyful and meaningful.
The authors share their experiences and their own now-grown sons' testimony of how their parents' leading and commitment helped them become the committed Christians they are today. It really has a lot that I would love to implement in my own home. I've been falling for Satan's deception and discouragement regarding my home and the lack of spiritual habits. However, I see that I can change things in my home, because with God all things are possible. I received this book from BookSneeze in exchange for my honest review. I have three young daughters, so training them up in God's Word and helping them be the light of Christ to their friends and in their schools is often on my mind.
The Harneys' book, Organic Outreach for Families, addresses some of my primary questions as a Christian parent: How do you reach in to disciple your children and help them develop their own personal and real relationship with Jesus Christ? And then how do we as a family reach out to our community with the love and witness of Jesus? So often this is a difficult balance. We want to protect our children from worldly influences and keep them safe, so we collapse inward.
Sometimes that means we associate only with Christianschurch, private or home schooling, Christian clubs, Christian activities. And then we find ourselves without a single relationship with non-believer. We can also force so much of the Bible on our kids that they resent it and rebel. On the other hand, we can immerse ourselves so much in our community and neighborhoods, focusing on outreach, outreach, outreach We can grow our children up in a spiritual vacuum neglecting to teach them God's Word.
