Furies of Calderon

Well, I just reviewed the first book, which was good. However, Isle takes a much more dark and sinister turn. Bad guys were not just evil, but highly skilled and successful, for the most part. I love smart enemies to root against, because it makes the ending that much sweeter. I also enjoyed how the story ends neatly, but there are definitely unresolved issues that make me want to read more of the books. I'm intrigued about how the author is developing a "good" nation, where the inhabitants share a common philosophy but have different opinions.

It's much easier to write an "evil" nation, I would think. But how do you keep a country secure if your entire nation is made up of fairly nice people. I'd like to see where this nation goes as a people group. The tales of Rygia and Teman continue in this epic sequel. Although this book starts out at a slower pace, it was not long before it fixed my attention and held it to the end. The world and plot deepens as Lyons reveals more landscape, characters, and background.

In this book, Lyons also shows a darker side of the world, and there is some mention of gore. I would not recommend this book for young audiences under 14 , yet these point strengthen the plot and reveals the extent of villainy. The characterization in this book was excellent. The message was powerful, and Lyons continues to build upon the theme of forgiveness. First of all, let me say that this is actually the second book in the series. If you haven't read, "In the palace of Rygia" yet, go and buy it right now. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Now onto this book. An amazing sequel to the first. If you have read the first one, this book just builds upon the plot. You go deeper into this fantasy world and you are going to love what you find. There is adventure, action, and unmatched suspense. There was a few parts I almost didn't want to read on, because I was afraid of the outcome.

I'm not an particularly emotional person, but this book definitely pulled on my heart strings. Now don't take that to mean it's some sappy romance. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us. Jan 28, I'm going to live as like a Narnian as I can even if there isn't any Narnia. On the surface, the Victorian age is one of propriety, industry, prudishness and piety. Presented by Stephen Fry, this series delves deep into a period of time we think we know, to discover an altogether darker reality. For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

The golden age of man is coming to a close and enemies surround the civilized world. Lulled into a false sense of security by isolation and pervasive peace, human lords hatch petty schemes to weaken their rivals and gain favor with the throne. Meanwhile, an ancient darkness stirs beneath the Great Northern Mountains and the orcish hordes grow restless just beyond the Southern Peaks. Out of the chaos at the end of the Tranquility Era, a new breed of hero arrives to forge an age of sorcery and mayhem.

And into this chaos comes the Necromancer! Before being conscripted to fight in the Total War, Private Hector Park had a shattered family, a collection of old video games, and a promising career as a motorcycle stuntman.
